Ok, iv'e baught the game, but not able to play it because my RAM(1GB) and video card(nVidia GeForce 7100GS 512MB), so I'm buying new one and one more gb of RAM.

So my question is if the game will work on those system specs:

Processor: Intel Pentium D 3.00 Ghz (2 CPUs)

Video Card: Inno3D nVidia GeForce 9800GT 512MB

RAM: 2048 MB

Power Supply: Spire 550W Real

I really hope that i gave you the whole specs...

thanks alot for your time,

GTAIVTRUEGAMER.

You should opt for a better CPU. A proper dual core, or even better a quad core. Also, 2GB of RAM is a tad low for this game, as GTA IV goes through RAM like a hot knife through butter.

But on the recommnded requierments it wrote that 2GB is fine.

anyway, the game will not work on my CPU? it is duel core (2 CPUs)

2GB of Ram should be ok as long as its reasonably fast. But yeah a new CPU would be highly advised. Get a decent Core 2 Duo

Yeah, they wrote a bunch of horse sh*t on the cover You can check out the recommended requirements on yougamers, they are quite a bit higher then those advertised by R*.

While 2GB should be enough, the problem is called "memory leak". That is, GTA IV takes a lot more memory then it should over time.

Also, D series of processors is not that close to the C2D in terms of performance. Besides, Intel dumped that line of processors rather fast.

so how much should it cost to me to replace my processor to C2Q like yours?

I have the same processor as you and the game runs fine, yes I might only get around 16 fps average, but it's absolutely playable.

What are your system specs?

Be sure that your motherboard is compatible with the latest Core 2 Duo or Quad Core. I recommend going for the latest CPUs, of course.

As for the RAM, 2 GB isn't really bad, if the RAM is fast, of course. I have 2 GB DDR2-1066 (PC2-8500) and they're enough (though I'm thinking about buying 1 extra GB).

As for the power supply, a lot of people think that it is a part of the computer that doesn't deserve much attention. Which is absolutly incorrect, because a good power supply is what keeps your system alive. Be aware of that when upgrading the computer with new parts that will require more energy.

I noticed when I upgraded my machine (motherboard, CPU, RAM and graphics card). I had to buy a new power supply because my old one wasn't powerful enough.

icon14.gif True. A good power supply is the 1st thing to buy. Not a funny surprise after new powerful GPU when your computer does not start at all.

this exact thing happened to me, and I bought my PC from a store that is now ruined. They were out of business just a little bit before my power supply died and killed my graphics card. So no refund for me... Damn I was so pissed.

I have 550W real of "Spire" company power supply.

in the store they said it should be enough and more for the 9800GT...

how much should it cost:

Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550?

If your worried about price then your not gonna be real happy. the lowest price quad on newegg is ~200. Not too bad after the recent price drop though. As for graphics an 9800 will run medium settings comfortably. 2gb of ram is alright.

EDIT: the q9550 is 269USD.

That's not saying too much. I dunno if you still have the box, but check the power requirements of the card you want to buy, then check the stats (on the box) of your power supply. For example my XFX 9600 GT (it's almost one year old - I'm proud biggrin.gif) says this on the box: "400 Watt or greater (with a 12V current rating of 26A)." - This is the minimum power. Recommended is: "500 Watt or greater"

You must be sure that your power supply is capable of providing a 12V current rating of 26A. If you don't know what are these values, google it. wink.gif

In the store they say everything. I don't trust that people lol... most of them don't understand sh*t about computers, and try to sell you OEM stuff, or say that "it's an Intel Core 2 Duo so it's good, take it". Oh yeah, there are like what, 20 different Core 2 Duo processors? How many Ghz, cache, 45nm construction, 60nm construction, etc... that's all pretty important.

Where do you live? Can you indicate some online store for the products? Also post your current motherboard please... if you're going to spend money upgrading the PC, you better spend it well. You don't want to buy something and then return it to the store because it's incompatible with your machine, right?

How much money do you think you can spend? We can help you with a good configuration. smile.gif

Yeah hi..

I wasn't here fo few days...

thanks alot for your help..

by the way.. I live in Israel and I successfly bought it!

GTA IV works so smoothly and I want to tell you something..

The card I bought is MSI 9800GT OC and it costed 660 NIS.(NEW ISRAELI SHEKELS)

The power supply is EZCOOL 500W real and it costed 390 NIS.

In the store they said that if I want to buy another GB of RAM, I should replace my mother board (that will cost 440 NIS), and than i will buy a 2GB RAM pack(in one piece)that will cost 200 NIS.

so the day before yesterday i spent 1125 NIS...

now, I have another problem..

In the game I put the graphics on very high(I installed the 1.0.3.0 patch) and the resolution on the highest, BUT!! I cant put the texture detail on very high....

I read somewhere that I should open a text document in my game location folder, and in that I should write something that start with with "-", I stayed with my mother board and my 1 GB of RAM...

What should I do??? THANK YOU ALL FOR COMMENTING AND HELPING ME!!!!!

P6NG Mother Board

EZ COOL 500 W Power Supply

6/8 GB? That's overkill, but if you want to us all of it just make sure you has Vista 64-bit.

For the Quad I don't think it's necessary. Buy the cheaper one, oc it and you can get the same performance.

For power supply I doubt it's sufficient.

But if you have much money and not have problem at all, that system is great enough. icon14.gif

Maybe you want use Extreme instead of Quad (or i7)
