nerner
In GTA: LCS it is revealed that Toni Cipriani helps the Yardies take over their turf in Newport from the Forelli family as a way to help corrupt cop Leon McAffrey repay an unknown favour to the Yardies that they did for him. After that, I am not sure that they would hate on you.
Flesh-n-Bone
Yep. The Yardies in this game hate you for unknown reasons, even though you helped them take over Newport.
Upaluppa
Sound like some kind of programming error to me... Storywise they are supposed to be friendly towards Toni, but for some reason they hate you after you finish that mission. I guess R* simply made a mistake there. Probably just another handheld bug that they put in for no reason so that we had something to discuss here at GTAF.
Upaluppa
Lol, I don`t think that R* creates bugs and glitches on purpose, but you`re right, they always lead to some nice discussions here in the forums !
chapapote
The Yardies are a bunch of backstabber bastards. End of discussion.
Upaluppa
Agreed I don`t like them either, especially because I think their outfits totally suck... And also because they are hard to understand in that mission if you don`t have the subtitles activated ! The Yardies in GTA III were somewhat cooler, even tough they weren`t exactly friends. Flesh-n-Bone
I like the Yardies' clothes in LCS. In III they are far too violent against you. But I like their lines in III.
Omnia sunt Communia
I think Rockstar Leeds probably tried to make The Yardies in Liberty City Stories more like their real-life counterparts. That is, violent, ruthless and unpredictable. They also come with a new set of clothes, which are much more akin to their real-life attire. I think, in general, Leeds tried to make the gangs in Liberty City Stories more realistic.

I think, in general, Leeds tried to make the gangs in Liberty City Stories more realistic. They are definitely more realistic than the GTA 3 version of themselves, in GTA3 every gang recognizes you as soon as you pass by, not that you drive the same car either. In LCS and all the games after III, the gangs take a while before knowing it's you, who pissed them off. But you haven't done anything bad to the Yardies in LCS for them being violent towards you. Omnia sunt Communia
But you haven't done anything bad to the Yardies in LCS for them being violent towards you. Yes, but like I said: Maybe Rockstar Leeds are trying to make them appear/act more like their real-life counterparts? The Yardies, in-real life, are very violent and prone to random attacks. They don't hold alliances for very long and will often attack without reason.
Shockwave_NewOrder
maybe a programming glitch? Some settings for a cancelled mission that they forgot to remove.

Upaluppa
I guess it`s a programming error, because it doesn`t make sense storywise to have them hate you after you helped them out ! And it has nothing to do with any removed missions. that`s for sure ! I`ve checked trough the gxt files and there wasn`t anything said about removed scenes involving the Yardies... EDIT: Oh, sorry I`ve already said that earlier...

Omnia sunt Communia
and who are the real life counter parts Uhm, The Yardies? They are a real-life gang, though they tend to be based in London and Jamaica more than anywhere else.

nerner
All of the Italian gangs are based on gangs such as the Corleones, and other mafia related groups. The Diablos are a Puerto Rican gang, based on gangs such as Almighty King & Queen nation, and Los Vatos Locos. The Sindacco family are especially based on the Profaci mafioso. The Hoods are a mixup of the Bloods and the Crips, as some wear Red, and others wear Purple.
Omnia sunt Communia
All of the Italian gangs are based on gangs such as the Corleones, and other mafia related groups. The Corleone's may not be the best example. I hate to break it to you, but the Corleone's are fictional too.

And Forelli members dress just like the Corleones in Godfather the game.
Osric
I've been reading this, and these are the conclusions I can draw from the Mafia gangs being based off real Mafia Families.... nerner
I would have said that the Leones were taken from COrleone, but yeah, that sounds about right.

But we're talking about real-life gangs. REAL-LIFE. The Corleone's aren't real. We've been through this.
nerner
Just because something is fictional, doesn't mean that something else fictional can't be based on it. And by the way, there was no need to put that in bold, I can read hyphenated words perfectly well, thank you.
