lil weasel
After reading so manySnPs: How come Version 2 players rarely ask for assistance? And where are all these Version 1 copies coming from? Are version 1 players less skillful? Now that Version 2 games cost less than a days pay, less than an hours pay for that matter. Why arn't more Version 2 players asking for help? Do Version two players have more savvy/skill when playing the game? Or are version 2 players unable to find this web site? THIS TOPIC IS NOT INTENDED TO ANGER ANYONE, MERELY SOME QUESTIONS ON GAME PLAYING. If you are too immature to understand this you need not reply. Girish
Err, I don't see any logic in this. There's no difference between both versions. If there is any difference at all, it's at the user end; the person playing the game that is. Also, I'm not sure where you got the idea that v2 players rarely ask for help. I have been doing SnPs since 2006 and trust me, I have seen a hell lot of v2 players ask for help. That is one of the major reasons why you see a 'Completing v2 SNP requests using v1' guide pinned in the Mission Help forum. I also remember the days when we had to use pdescobar's manual converter so that v2 players could play with SnPs completed using a v1 exe. Also, it was the huge demand for v2 SnPs because of which Samutz finally incorporated the converter into GTASnP.com which erased the need for manual conversions. As to where the v1 copies are coming from, I believe these are just older players who are probably playing the game all over again after a considerable amount of time. I still have a v1 copy. As for finding this website, it's probably the easiest thing since GTAForums is almost always on the first page of most Google searches related to GTA. That's how I found this forum, looking for help on 'Learning to Fly' and a few other missions. I still remember the first hit on Google was the Mission Help sub-forum. That was my lucky day! lil weasel
Ah... In the few PnPs I've done only One was a version 2. and nearly all the others were 'newbee's in version 1. It seemed odd to me that there were so many V1s out there. Since they were recalled. Which didn't seem probable As I would expect new players to be using V2. Have you noticed that most of the people having trouble with the GunAction type scenarios also have chosen to use in inferior or exotic weapons, (Chainsaws, sawedoff shotguns, sabors. no body armour)? Girish
It seemed odd to me that there were so many V1s out there. Since they were recalled. Which didn't seem probable As I would expect new players to be using V2. The v1 copies were recalled from the store shelves. People who had already bought the game hung on to their v1 copies. And why shouldn't they? v1 is more easily moddable than v2, after all. Have you noticed that most of the people having trouble with the GunAction type scenarios also have chosen to use in inferior or exotic weapons, (Chainsaws, sawedoff shotguns, sabors. no body armour)? Most of them are unaware about the weapon spawn points or don't have enough money to buy ammo from an ammunation store (not taking into consideration people who cheat). But still, guns don't make much difference. If you're good enough, you can run through the game with a Desert Eagle alone.
trickstar34
I use v2 and the only reason I normally need help (with exception to street races) is because of my inferior graphic card so my computer displays it as 1 frame a second instead of 60 frames a second, so missions like Toreno's Last Flight (I completed this myself before I started GTAForums, by blowing him up with a SeaSparrow, because my heat-seeking RPG couldn't catch him) and Monster (I get like 11 minutes instead of 6:30). lil weasel
I realize that the game is very difficult to play for the new player. Only after 16 full game finishes (No 100% yets) Have I felt confident to do some of the more difficult missions. What I am seeking is why are there so many New People using/playing Version 1 games? Where do thay come from. It's been four years since they were recalled from vendors. Did so many venodrs not return them? Why are the new players/purchasers of Version 2 so rarely in need of help? Are You more experienced with the controls? It's quite reasonable for a player to keep at it until a missin is completed. It litteraly took me a coupoe of weeks, four hours a day to finish my first try at Flying School (PS2). Why are Version 1 players more likely to seek help? Also, Are the newer computers and OS (like vista) Making the game harder to play?
Girish
I think I already answered your question as to why there are still v1 copies out there. People like me have not exchanged them for a v2 copy. Moreover, there are illegitimate ways of obtaining v1 copies too. I don't think this is the appropriate time frame to compare v1 and v2 players, especially since the amount of SnP requests has gone down considerably since 2007. As I said before, we had a lot of v2 requests back then. The game has gotten older since then and many players have stopped playing the game and moved on with other things. Also, some people who needed help back then have probably learnt to do the missions themselves, so that adds up to the drop in SnP requests too. Newer computers actually make the game easier, or at least that's how it has been for me. I play at a fps between 70-90 at the highest possible settings without any lag at all. This makes missions like 'Cesar Vialpando', 'Life's a Beach', 'Stowaway', etc. much more easier since there is no lag to hold you down. In a nutshell, you can also say that older computers are one of the reasons why some people need to request SnPs. Quite a few times, it's the lag preventing the player from completing the mission rather than the skill itself. Edit: Locked on request.
