OverTheBelow
Well.. I have this brother who is 2 years older than me. He basically acts like he owns our home internet. I'm pretty sure he has done something to my wireless connection or my BitTorrent because before I was getting 200kb/s download speed, but now the downloads have only ever got to 40kb/s each day and only a couple seem download at one time. These are definitely good torrents I'm using and I have looked at countless guides to 'speed up my bittorrent' but to no avail. It started about 5 days ago, on the friday before easter break. Does anyone know any ways he might of slowed my torrent speed down, limited my connection, blocked ports or some sort of technique that I can reverse? I have access to anything except his computer. Or is this just my ISP blocking torrents? (bare in mind we changed ISPs just because of this recently) Thank you for your help. I should probably mention too that he hates me downloading and he may of sneaked onto my computer before to change something.
Wolf68k
Are your speeds slower only with bit torrent? Take a speed test at something like speedtest.net and see what you get.
Enjoii
If you're downloading too much over whatever your 'net plan allows then your ISP could be capping your speeds.
copperwire93
Is the torrent got good seeders? Most of torrent got great number of leech but poor seeders.
manofpeace
Check that the port you're using is open. Ports are really important because they let other people connect to you and can exponentially increase your speeds in both directions. The port I had used for a while got f*cked, so I had to try for a new one a whole bunch of times until I got a good one. Also, I'd suggest telling him about it and asking him to retrace his steps as far as what he's done concerning his torrents.
fiercedeity9
APPARENTLY - some ISP's are throttling users that use a P2P service; regardless of whether you download legally or illegally.
