Smiley001
Could be the red laser of your PS2. Try cleaning the lens. I also doubt it's the game's fault.

HolyGrenadeFrenzy
Clean the disc very carefully after you clean your PS2 lenz as well. If you don't know how then find someone who does to show you. Don't ask the local idiot how this is done.
lil weasel
Rarely now, The PS2 overheats.Be sure the cooling vents are clear. Early PS2 units didn't have suffecient cooling and fail. If you clean the DVD disc, by hand, wipe only from the center to the edge. Never in a circular motion.
Benjimino234
Yeah it must be the ps2. I once played my ps1 with all these classic games but it didn't work... It was old and dusty and unable to come back to life. So fix it now!
hugh750
If all else fails just buy yourself a ps3 (80 gig ps3's are backwards compatible with ps2 & ps1 games).
Garfield 2
If all else fails just buy yourself a ps3 (80 gig ps3's are backwards compatible with ps2 & ps1 games). Only the oldest models. The new ones are still PS2 incompatible.
acet19
No I don't think it's my ps2, all my other games are working fine it's just this that's f*cking up... I already have a 160 gb PS3 and as far as I know it's not backward compatible.... so I guess am f*cked

radioman
If it's your PS2, you can always get a new one-they are only $99 brand new these days- here's a sample of how much they came down. So you are in luck about being able to replace a broken console. Hope this helps. Also, the 80GB PS3's are NOT backwards compatible with PS2 games, I have one and it will not play PS2 games. Hope this helps. Edited April 18, 2009 by radioman

Calidrugs
That's because the new 80GB PS3's only have limited backwards compatibility. As for the old ones, they have no backwards compatibility at all. At acet19, do you have the slim PS2 or the original?
radioman
(Yes the 80 gig ps3 does play ps2 games!), I've got an 80 gig ps3 and it does play ps2 games just fine I have an 80GB model(bought about 5 months ago at Wal-Mart #990), and it does not play PS2 games-I tried GTA III, VC, SA, LCS, VCS, Scarface; and none play-it just comes up something like "invalid disc" or "not a compatible disc format" I also noticed on the box it says "This model is not compatible with PS2 titles, and has limited backwards compatibilty". MK GTAmaster
Maybe the Game isn't original, or pirated. or maybe your Ps2 lens may have serious damage. try to play the CD on another PS2 (your friend's, shop's or whatever).. and tell me then is it working or not
