Changing Camera & Mouse settings back to VC Style?

Hey all,

 

I have recently purchased GTA IV and first impressions are is that it seems strange.

 

My mouse sensitivity is crap even when I change settings to full sensitivity, the cursor moves too slowly.

 

Also, it seems weird that (for example) when driving a car, I have to move the mouse (camera angle) to see where I am going to? The camera angle doesnt change when you move corners!

 

Is this normal? Does everyone like these controls?

 

Why cant we have the good old Vice City controls?

The camera angle does change at corners, but it changes very slowly when compared to the previous GTAs. I don't find it to be a huge issue though.

 

As for the cursor speed and such, there's nothing you can do about it. I have learnt to navigate through the menu using just the keyboard. Although there might be ways of increasing the cursor speed. It'll involve modding, so you better check the modding forums for help on that. Not sure if there's any solution for it though, so you'll most probably have to live with it.

I wish you could change grenade throwing back to VC style?

 

If you press Caps Lock, the camera will be instantly reset so you don't have to wait. I never remember to use that though.

Yeah, that's useful. How often does someone want to place a live grenade underneath themselves?

 

This happened to me constantly when I first started playing GTA4.

Quickly followed by a "Oh WTF?" and sprinting away as fast as possible. It's most entertaining when you don't realize what you did, and you suddenly explode into death for... apparently... No reason... Especially when it happens during a long mission and you have to restart the whole thing because you accidentally decided to commit suicide.

 

I've never used the molotovs ingame, but I can only imagine what would happen with those...

At least the grenade gives you a few seconds to run anyway. Does the molotov cause you to instantly burst into flames?!

Yeah, that's useful. How often does someone want to place a live grenade underneath themselves?

Since you cannot shoot yourself and commit suicide, grenades are a good way of killing yourself for whatever reason it might be. Molotovs and the rocket launcher can establish the same purpose too.
