The intent here is specific to what you use for video reproduction, be it VCR, Camcorder or projector/ monitor.

One of the reasons is I just got shots of my best VCRs out of storage, now online, as well as getting a bulb working in my 1995 SharpVision LCD projector.

Looking that unit up online, the retail pricing back then was a cool $9000!!

The bulbs for 2000 hours of use are $395 thereabouts. I got mine with another projector and just figured out it would work in this one, the E850U.

Sharp did a lot for LCD and the projector market, it's there LCD panels in Sony's Handycams in fact.

If you're proud of your gear you got, show it off here...

The two VCRs I will present below are Sony's industrial GCS-50, using much of the home version SL-HF1000. the GCS-50 takes away the on screen prompting/texting for more up front dubbing control as well as a professional rear panel complete with BNC connectors.

The VCR it sits on is the JVC HR-S10000U, the best VCR they made for VHS format, a SuperVHS model that normally has faux wood panels but were removed to work on it internally, it presents many of the same home editing features the superBeta HF1000 gave Videophiles in 1986.

I bought two of those.

Along with the video and projector, I later acquired via eBay, both a Canon L1 and L2 camcorders, the highest models produced. the L2 added RC Time code, something I was trying to obtain when I shopped for my first in 1991.

Well, at the time it was new, there's not a chance I could buy it, and I went hog wild with access to eBay, initially I tried to pay just over $1000 for the Sony SL-HF1000.

Their best VCR was the Anniversary (15th) SuperBeta in 1992, or 1991, the SL-HF2100.

It's the only Betamax with S-video output. One can argue the merits of the best BETA picture/sound without S-video, which during it's commercial debut with SuperVHS, caused mucho confusion, it's not Super Video or SUPERVHS video, but Seperated (Y/C) video stream based nomenclature

I got it from the local auction for peanuts, it's a Sony TA-1130, which were made between 1970 and 1975.

I never use it, but It looks so damn good at the bottom of my hifi rack. It really does look modern with all the other stuff I have, it really looks like it was made this decade.

Heres some more info about the amp:

Sorry about the bad camera quality though guys, thats the iphone for you. whatsthat.gif

Not so much for video as for sound, but my sound system uses a Technics SL-DL5 record player and a Technics 6-cd system from 1991. i swear i had some pictures floating around on my image hosting service but i can't find them...

Oh, I'll have more pics....forthcoming. I keep shots of the Pioneer solid State I sold on Craig's List, got a good price for it, around $100. IIRC, but recently found the schematic manual I had bought to go with it. I also sold my SL-HF750 on Craig's List.

I took some guff over my fondness for LaserDisc, as one forgotten format, ignored because it didn't record and it required too many side breaks, and size factor as well. However, it's a good example of how Digital and Analog combine, as they do in the real world. Analog video with Digital Audio, and in some cases, a better CD playback then conventional players designed with CD in mind!

We have a LaserDisc player, it's been in the living room for over a decade now. It still works perfectly, everythings like it should be.

We actually used it the other day, and the picture quality was surprisingly sharp seeing we was playing it through a 52" TV. The colours were pretty vibrant as well, and the film didn't chug or lag at all, it was really good.

So as far as a format goes I like LaserDisc. The packaging for LaserDisc movies are always really nice too.

Heres a picture I googled of our player:

Hey, man, the D704 is equipped with the Dolby RF output, my D703 is identical but lacks it. I've gotten one guy asking for it, and I also bought a Sony Dolby processor with RF decoding (Demodulator), I have the Yamaha unit I bought prior up for sale... I wanted a smaller unit. Getting back to analog though.... I got more pics coming soon. That CLD-D704 is going to get interest when you sell, so hang on to it, perhaps. What's connected to the front display?

Slamman, that player is not our one, it's just a picture I googled of one. I just popped upstairs to take a picture and it's a tiny bit different to what I thought.

Our player is actually a D925, here's a (bad) picture I just took:

And heres a better picture I just found in an ebay ad:

It's still a great player though, I'm always impressed by it's sound and picture quality.

I've got a 4-channel stereo turntable, and a whole sh*tload of albums for it.

(and by "a whole sh*tload", I mean 2, and they are Floyd and Zeppelin respectively... You try finding albums for this f*cker, not to mention 4-channel needles! YIKES!)

And speaking (quite literally) of analog, I had a badass Samsung analog phone for the longest time, right up until the analog signal was gone... I miss it actually, that bastard always had reception, even in a f*cking cave, or 50 feet underground I was making clear calls.

Yeah, that import market LD player looks similar to the one my friend has, they hyped the 8 bit Digital Field Memory that was added for CLV disc still frame use, it's been in place since the digital VCR era, 1986 onward. You still have an RF output, can you decode it? I sure hope so! I have three decoders presently. There's a top flight Pioneer Elite receiver at the pawn shop right now that I'd trade my stuff for! It's marked at $300 USD

Sure^ sure. If it's top of the line, it's already the best, bar none!

Anywho, I am using a Sony dual well cassette with Dolby S and pitch control (for one well)

Nice touch on the top end models is the dual record BOTH ways of EACH well. They don't share features entirely but I love this model TC-WE825S.

The cool thing in my thrifty searches is that not only 8mm and Hi8 cassettes being offered up on the market, I've gotten brand new High Bias cassettes of all vintages, ones I recall spending a premium for! I can't really put into words opening a shrink wrapped vintage cassette... There's something about it, the fact that it's NOS I guess.! haha
