Shadows or Reflection?

I have a question. Whats makes the game look better. Shadows on Very High or Reflection Resolution on Very High? And why? One of my friends has 2 options, he can either max out his shadows and keep reflection at High or Reflection at very high and shadows at high.

if he plays with defenition - shadows very high (shadows look better with defenition off)

 

if he plays without defenition - reflections very high (better lighning, surfaces look better with reflections very high)

I don't care much for the reflections, they're not that well implemented in GTA IV anyway. Ever since the option was added in 1.0.3, I've played without reflections. I couldn't imagine playing without shadows though, it helps depth perception.

Medium reflection quality looks IMO much better than higher settings.

Very high shadows + very high reflections...

You can't compare them. I really like the reflections on the car, because it gives the car a pretty realistic looking, while shadows look very nice, especially at night time. If you turn your shadow density to 16 you can even see the shadows caused by other street lamps, and you can see your car headlight's shadows. (like drive near a lamp post and you'll see what it looks like)

Thank god I can use both of them so my GTA looks fantastic. All I need is AA now, cuz I can't get higher resolution than 1280x1024

I wish there was a way to have car reflections, but no reflections elsware. shadows are better than relfections, though.
