Isara Posted April 8, 2009 Share Posted April 8, 2009 I'm sorry to announce that the image hosting website, IsaraPIX.org, is gone and every file has been "mistakenly deleted" by our webhost and there are no back-ups. I just spent the last three hours talking to our webhost. Turns out their "system" made a huge mistake and deleted everything for numerous accounts. And they don't have back-ups of sites that are over 3gb. I apologize to every GTAF member who used IsaraPIX for their image hosting. Thank you for helping my charity organization with your visits and clicks. I wish there was some way to get your stuff back but there isn't. There was no warning this was going to happen and they had every technician try to recover the files, without success. Unfortunately the webhost is doing what big businesses do best. No accountability. They want the victim to jump through all the hoops. I made it clear that THEY are the ones who should be contacting the customer and telling the customer what THEY are going to do to make things right. But they wanted ME to contact their Helpdesk and Billing department to get a refund! Unbelievable. Isara Posted April 8, 2009 Author Share Posted April 8, 2009 Out of principle we can't go back to the old webhost. (I told them I would sue if they didn't make a reasonable effort to fix this mess.) So if it does start up again it would need to be on a new host, most likely a dedicated server, so this doesn't happen again. Unfortunately my charity and I can't afford another dedicated server. We need to focus our resources on our projects and our main website. Unless things change drastically in the next few days, and our old webhost grows a heart, then I don't see IsaraPIX coming back in the near future. I had always thought that if we ever shut IsaraPIX down we would give everybody 2-3 months notice. This isn't how it was suppose to be. I am truly sorry for any inconvenience this has caused you. So sad to see it go away . Imageshack is slow, Photobucket is flash based (so, it automatically is very slow)... Eh... Well, good luck to the rest of the site ! Eh, try Flickr. Not the best, but you can automaticly log in if you have a mail account on Yahoo. On Photobucket, I mainly use it for the Hot Chick Topic, they dont delete anything from me. Pat Posted April 8, 2009 Share Posted April 8, 2009 PhotoBucket isn't that bad. I'm running with 612MB of RAM (I know, pitiful), and I have barely any lag when uploading images on it. ImageShack, however, is plauged with ads. Tons of them get past my pop-up blocker, even when I'm just viewing an image that was uploaded on their servers, not to mention when I'm uploading an image myself. Photobucket's downside is still not the memory, but the graphic intensive layout makes it load slow, but it offers options, I added a Metallica backdrop, for my pages. There's not a lot in the way of custom options, but I've not had to reload, only had it lock up while deleting two of the same pic, that happened due to link loss to the site, I believe, as I couldn't get connected after that. I had joined WebShots prior and kind of negated it. Some of the Photo Edit online options offer storage too. Signing on is no biggie if it takes only moments to set up name, password, email confo.
