Monstrous
Hi everyone, seen a few great threadds here, so thought this would be the best place to bring my issue. Basically, I have my save game files which I took from my old computer, and am now putting on this one. However, I deleted my old save games and put my one from the old computer, and every time I try to load a save game, it acts as if I have started a new game, with the Marco's bistro scene. Any ideas? Tried searching, changing the processor allocation, turned off compatability mode, deleted the .set file etc... Vista Home Premium 32-Bit Asus P5K3 Q6600 8800GT Corsair 4GB DDR3 1333 All latest drivers etc. Game runs spot on, just this problem . Just thought i'd add, if I save a game myself and load it, it works fine. But I was 99% through ... Edited April 8, 2009 by Monstrous
Girish
I'm not very sure but would this have anything to do with the v1.1 patch? Did you have this patch before?
Monstrous
I'm not sure if I've had it before, though if I did, and now haven't, that may explain it? Got a link to it and ill give it a try? Unknown version, patch wont work. Tried another few saves to no avail. Girish
The patch should work on an original exe. Are you using any no-cd cracks?
Monstrous
Nope not using any. Tried downloading save files too, and they dont work. Seems that only ones im creating work.
radioman
If you have V1.1, which is the Steam Version, that may be the problem, as the Steam version may not be compatible with the Original (CD) version saves. Do you have/have had the Steam Version? Or CD version? Your problem might be a compatibilty issue between the two versions. Hope this helps. I'm assuming that VC's Steam version is 1.1, because I have the Steam Version Of GTA III, and it says it is V1.1 when I start that game up. I'm not very sure but would this have anything to do with the v1.1 patch? Did you have this patch before? I thought SA was the only game that had a Patch available(because of the Hot Coffee thing). Do you have/have had the Steam Version? Or CD version? I have the steam version. Could it possibly be Valve anti-cheat stuff not allowing the saves to work ? When I load the saves in, it says the loading saved game bit in pink, then goes to the blue 'welcome to vice city' screen for a split second, then starts the opening intro to the game. Girish
I'm not very sure but would this have anything to do with the v1.1 patch? Did you have this patch before? I thought SA was the only game that had a Patch available(because of the Hot Coffee thing). As I said, I'm not really sure. When I googled for it, the search came up with a lot many v1.1 patch download links. So, I assumed there might be some patch in existence for VC. Although, the description of the patch states that it only corrects some graphical errors.
Monstrous
IF I were to upload my save game that i can make work, could one of you try it and see if it works on your non-steam version? Then try overwriting it with another save and uploading it, and see what happens?
Spuds725
steam version saves are NOT compatible with the original PC version of the game-- you cannot exchange saves between the two versions. NTAuthority
If the problem is the same as with SA, you could make retail saves compatible with the downloaded version (if they have different script files!) by overwriting the .scm file... I hope Note that I think the downloaded versions aren't just 1.1, they're 1.1 with custom authentication -- and probably a 'haitian-friendly' type SCM file, which may never have been in the normal PC versions.
