Logo made my me

I know the SAW series is getting carried away and cashing in by making a new movie every year, but you got to admit the traps are awesome, every year they get better and more gruesome.

The story lines are pretty impressive as well with their twists and turns, one minute you think one thing but the next minute something else happens and just blows you away.

What are your views on the SAW series?

What do you hope to be in 6?

What traps do you expect to see?

Like you said, they're just dragging it out now. I thought the first was a decent enough film, the second too. But from the 3rd one on, you could tell they were just making it for the money. I don't think the 6th will be any different, just another pool of sh*tty plot twists and un-needed gore.

1st one was brillient. It was well acted and scripted. It built suspense and put the viewers in an uncomtable condition. The rest felt like second rate cheesy horror films.

I agree, that the first film is good, but they are good to watch, when you are at home alone and bored.

ha. Don't you remember when the guy had just cut his leg off, and he's losing blood, going all pale etc When he's trying to speak it's laughably bad acting. And Danny Glover was sh*t in it.

Watch it again. When he's aiming the gun and crying after it makes me laugh.

It built suspense and put the viewers in an uncomtable condition.

I'll give you that. I've only seen the first and a bit of the third, and from what I've been hearing I don't want to see the rest. The first actually had some good plot twists, like the end. I'll admit I didn't see that coming.

To be honest the acting was better then most horror films wink.gif

I can see film companies producing SAW films until they stop making money.

There's even a SAW ride in the UK now at Thorpe Park. Kinda funny how they've made such a big brand out of such a nasty series of films.

I love the Saw series, but I was very disappointed by Saw V. It didn't have that shock factor the first 4 had. I know it done a great job a tieing the loose ends from the other movies, but to me the traps felt quite tame, except the first one. That was pretty awesome. I don't think it's the same now that Jigsaw's dead. They killed him off way too early IMO. The flashback aren't the same.

My personal favorites are Saw II, and Saw IV.

I hope Saw VI is better than Saw V, because IMO it's the worst one to date.

My list would go Saw IV> Saw II> Saw I> Saw III> Saw V

I have great fondness for the Scary Movies series MAKING FUN of the Saw films as well as others. I've actually not seen any though my boss brought one or two of them to work, I didn't really feel the need to watch over-indulgent shock horror, I want a film that's more reality based and naturally scary, the premise started out interesting then got more bizarre. You can't help but mentally picture Dr. Phil as he got involved with the Scary Movie series to lambast it. I just can't help but want to see more things like that.

I'm only in it for the brutality, (or isn't everyone?) besides that the movies blow in my opinion.

I've seen every Saw film, but that doesn't go to say that I've enjoyed them. The only reason I watched them in the past was because I thought the torture sequences were hilarious.

Also, I like Saw's main theme:

I do love the Saw theme. inlove.gif

And, I have to admit, I'm still a fan... despite my previous post in this topic.

The Saw movies were great after, maybe, the third one. I think they progressively worsened, but it doesn't mean I won't miss this one. I love the puzzles every movie has that you can't figure out until the end. That's really how the first one hooked me in.

Still, I'm only in it for the torture scenes like most of you said...The story is getting way too confusing and sh*tty now.

More Saw news. This time not about the 6th but the 1st.

The creators of the series James Wan and Leigh Whannell are making the original in 3-D.

Edit:

Even more Saw news.

The 7th Saw has already been written or very close to being finished.

I can't wait for the 6th and 7th. Saw is one the best horror series with it torture traps that get better every year.

I don't get it.

The first one never emphasized torture or gore; it was all about the puzzle and generally everyone agrees that the first was the best. Saw was brilliant and brought something new to the horror genre, not to mention it was tied up with an end twist that, I feel, is up there with Empire Strikes Back.

As the sequels continued, the series seemed to fall back into the stereotype of the genre, and to compensate for this the writer desperately tries to add more and more gore. They're taking cheap stabs at shock value every f*cking time now - and being a Saw film, the fact that you always know there will be an ending twist (in every damn one) kinda kills it.

What I loved about the first one was that it stood out from other horror films with what little it had. There were torture traps, yeah, but it was incredible because of how dark and suspenseful and unexpected it was. Now it's just the mundane process of "walk through this door, see this person get their eyes stabbed, walk through that door, see that person get their arms ripped off".

I know a lot of people like to just go see these movies for the cheap gore thrills, and that's sad because if the Saw series took a serious hit to the wallet this year, maybe then they would step back and reevaluate how they're slowly killing off a majority of their original fan base. I guess as long as they get money...

All saw did was copy off of cube, a much better, more thought out and deeper movie. It really brought nothing new to the horror genre, it just relied more on the violence rather than suspense. Sure, I thought the first one was decent, but definitely not worth a second viewing, let alone a sequel.

Yeah I Agree I love the first one, I only watch the sequels for the blood and toture devices.

I never saw Cube so it's not really in my place to argue for the better movie, but I will say that the suspense, plot, and mystery in the first film far outweighed the violence. This is not true for any other film in the series.

I'm not sayin' it's the greatest film ever, but my standards on horror films are pretty high and considering the vast majority of them most recently aren't, well, good, Saw stood out to me.

Saw & Saw II were brilliant.

Saw III was unnecessarily gory and the film was lacking in substance.

Not seen IV, didn't even know there was a V, but now there is a VI coming out!?

They really are milking it, time to call it a day and start a new project.

Dude, if you weren't into saw just because of the violence, watch cube. Its premise is pretty much the same but its far superior.

Omnia sunt Communia

Saw and Saw II were the only ones worth watching. Saw was good because it was new and original and Saw II worked because it was actually based on a screenplay for a different movie which they adapted into the Saw franchise. The rest of them though? The same old "torture porn" over and over again. I don't like films that sacrifice plot and characterisation in exchange for special effects and gore and Saw is the epitome of these sort of films.

I think to get a full appreciation of the series you need to watch each movie closely. I didn't like Saw V at first, but that's because I hadn't watched the others for a while, and I was kind of lost with the plot. So one day I watched them all back to back, and it made me like Saw V alot more.

I just wish Jigsaw was still alive though. It's just not right, without his immediate presence anymore.

The series would be better if there was a gap between each movie. They've come out every year since 2004. I would prefer it if they came out every 2-3 years.
