Girish
This is a graphical driver issue. Update your video card drivers and delete the gta_sa.set file from the User Files folder.
trickstar34
Whenever I delete gta_sa.set, it will just come back. How can I get rid of it for good? (I think it comes back everytime I play the game) Also, how do I update driver?
Girish
Go here: http://www.sis.com/download/ Step 1: Windows XP Step 2: IGP Graphics Driver Step 3: SiS66x/SiS76x & SiS67x Click 'GO' and download the 'uvga3_385.zip' file. Unzip and install that driver. Restart PC, delete the gta_sa.set file and start the game.
trickstar34
Do I have to save it to a certain location?
Girish
Do I have to save it to a certain location? Not necessarily. Just save it anywhere, unzip and extract it anywhere and install it. That's all.
trickstar34
EDIT: I think its doing this because I download 384 instead of 385. EDIT2: No, it did the same thing It wont install, it will have a errer message that says Message Bar: "InstFunc.dll" then a message saying "InstallDriverForVGA() fail 2:GetLastError()=3758096939" Edited April 8, 2009 by trickstar34
Girish
Try uninstalling your current VGA driver first and then install this one. See if that works.
trickstar34
I finally got it to work, but all the character errors are still there.
Girish
I finally got it to work, but all the character errors are still there. Did you delete the gta_sa.set file from the User Files folder? If it still exists, then I think it might be something to do with San Andreas not gelling well with your integrated graphic card. I have seen a fair amount of issues with integrated graphic cards (SiS video cards are more problematic, tbh), but most issues are solved by a simple video driver update. trickstar34
Yes, I did delete gta_sa.set, I also forgot to mention that when its foggy or in a sandstorm, then they show up. (also during "Beat The Cock!" as the screen loads, they show up too, but right when the numbers show they get messed up) This happened before and after I installed the new driver.
