pkdude
Hello, I'm having a problem with the north point mall Every time I walk into it and go near the GASH clothes store the game crashes with the sound still playing. can someone help please? P.S it's the PC version I have already tried deleting the gtavc.set EDIT: I have figured out what happened, the crash occurs when I walk by the GASH store and the elevator on the other side of the mall. If someone has the same problem please reply! Also, I've figured out that mission mods caused this error. Edited April 9, 2009 by pkdude
flicko
It seems you've already made a topic on this subject, here. Are you still having the same problem with the game? Has that topic not resulted in any answers to your problem? I had a search through the Buglist topic (Gives you solutions to well-known problems), and this was the closest thing to the problem you are encountering- Problem #4:Vice City periodically locks up with the sound still playing. Solution: Disable custom MP3s or take a look at file names - it seems the game dislikes huge filenames for MP3s (e.g. "01 - Artist - Album - Song.mp3"). Alternatively: Re-install the game with the optional 'radio stations'. This means the game will run solely off the hard drive, thus giving better performance on most machines (although worse performance on older machines). Alternatively: Roll back your drivers - the new nVIDIA drivers apparently aren't the best for use with Vice City. nVIDIA drivers version 61.76 are recommended. That doesn't sound like it has got a whole lot to do with your problem though... Do you still have modifications installed? Or have you tried getting rid of them to see if it would solve your problem? Sometimes enabling certain modifications will results in specific things not loading up/working. An example of that being if you modify the Admiral vehicle, and haven't yet played the mission Guardian Angels, it could have a knock-on effect and make you unable to pass the mission. In a lot of cases, simply removing all mods from the game solves the problem.

But the thing is... the mods that are installed are made by me, From scratch So I have tons of mods installed on my game, so removing all of them wouldn't be an option. What I need to figure out is witch mod caused it and remove that specific mod. It hurts to remove all your work that you've made on the game. So there must be another way. Also, I've tried deleting the MP3s it doesn't work.
Girish
Sorry mate, but if this issue has been caused by a specific mod, the only way to find the culprit is to remove the mods one by one and check the game every time. This is, of course, assuming that you have made backups. If you haven't made backups, then the only way is to reinstall the game. There are no shortcuts or other methods. flicko
It's nice to know you've discovered the solution to your problem. Did it involve ridding of a lot of your custom mods? Or did you have a lucky break? Regardless, it's good to hear you've solved your predicament.
