flicko
Hey buddy, since you've encountered a problem, I'm going to go ahead and move this topic to the Troubleshooting section. If you had initially created your topic in the Troubleshooting section, you will have noticed this topic; Buglist with Solutions (PC, PS2 & Xbox). It lists numerous problems gamers encounter, and also lists numerous solutions. In your case it could be something corrupt, something to do with your sound drivers or something entirely different. Also, through what means have you purchased the game? Online or from a Gaming store? If you have purchased the game online, it would be appreciated if you specified exactly where. Added to that, to further give us helpers more of an idea of your problem, if it's not too much trouble, could you state your systems specs. That will most definitely help us to identify your problem.
Garfield 2
This is the RIP version, isn't it? Sorry. GTAForums does not support piracy
flicko
This is the RIP version, isn't it? Sorry. GTAForums does not support piracy There's no way of telling that for sure. You can't really make accusations until the topic starter comes back with a reply. If this game has been illegally purchased, then yes, I'm afraid will be letting this topic rest in peace. flicko
It sounds like you need to update your audio drivers mate. Have you also tried deleting the .SET file? If that fails, try posting this required information- (To accurately diagnose problems the following should be posted for any PC problems)• What CPU and its speed • How much RAM, also what kind (DDR, SDRAM) and speed • What video card • Which version of Windows (and any service packs) • Which DirectX version • What sound card • History: Is this your first install? Did it work once before? Anything that is relevant. • Screenshots, if applicable. This is especially necessary with display issues which can be explained far easier by use of visual aids. • Above all else, a detailed description of your problem. Give as much information as possible! Keep it relevant, though. We don't need a fifty-page printout from some diagnosis program. Usually the above prompts will suffice. It doesn't matter if you cannot list eveything, as long as you try to list as much as you can.

flicko
Now, this is where my knowledge on the subject reaches it's boundaries. Hopefully a computer whizz (i.e nerd ) will come in here and provide you with the solution you are after. Just to be sure, have you tried deleting the [.set] file..? Spuds725
I've very limited in the "support" I can provide-- (not nerdy enough ) -- however since you are running it on Vista, I searched the pinned "VC works on Vista" thread and did see a realtek card mentioned... in this post.. http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtop...entry1057422965 I'd read over that thread-- and see if anything pops out at you for general settings and things you can try. if you make any PC settings changes, it is a good idea to delete you .set file after each change before starting VC up... what that file does is retain the game settings for you for the next time you start the game (which you don't want to do)-- if one is not there, it makes a new one with your new settings... Just get your sound working and then you can mess with video settings later-- note that you can only change certain settings in game, right after you start up the game-- (before you load up a save or start a new game)-- it won't let you change some things in the middle of the game from the pause menu... HTH.. Girish
As far as my knowledge goes, this is a common issue with UHARC compressed Vice City that is available so abundantly all over the internetz. If you can show me a screenshot of your Vice City folder, I might be able to tell you something.

Ultraussie
You gotta pirated one like I used to have, because my pirated one had no audio. Still killer fun Oh well, apparently we dont support piracy here. I know, you dont want your perants to see the disk and all that.. The scacrifice's us kid's gotta make. flicko
You gotta pirated one like I used to have, because my pirated one had no audio. Why on Earth would you make such an assumption..? Just because it was the case with you, it doesn't mean that it will be the case with every single games audio not working. In future please don't assume such things, when you've got nothing to support it. And any discussion of piracy is not prohibited here, so please try to refrain from bringing it up for discussion again.
