Slamman
Keith Moon. He was very innovative, and he has influenced a lot of drummers. He was also one of the first drummers to use the double bass drum. Runner up's: Gar Samuelson (Megadeth) Cozy Powell (Rainbow, MSG) Bobo Schopf (MSG) Alex Van Halen (Van Halen) Nicko McBrain (Iron Maiden) No one who's passed on (pun not intended) is eligible, even though I concur with Moon, for honors. Gar Samuelson as well, Dave Mustaine mentioned the World lost a legend, one it really never noticed fully. Sad. Wish he wasn't the heroin junkie he was, he messed up the whole band with that addiction, getting everyone hooked on hard drugs. I think had he stayed living clean, we could enjoy much more of him and probably performing much much better too. R.I.P.
Mojam
Mike Portnoy from Dream Theater. I must agree. This man's ability to change time signature so gracefully is amazing. That and his fills are tasty.
mxx_007
Hi everyone! I'm new here. And I still don't believe, that you are talking about drummers, and don't pronounce names like Billy Cobham or Elvin Jones. But if I had to choose a great drummer of these days, I'll keep with Dennis Chambers. Listen what this man can do: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U6c5_5WdAmY Well, maybe for the people that aren't familiarized with jazz, don't know about him. But you must see what he can do. PS: Sorry if I had bad english, it isn't my mother tongue.

Mister Pink
Basically, Dr.Dre is the best drummer alive WTF? Dr.Dre? Yeah he's a good producer but I wouldn't class him as a drummer. Not like the great Jazz or Rock drummers. If Dre is a great drummer then what the f*ck is Aphex Twin? RUBBΣR░J♢HNNY (スオッ)
Scarface187
I can't believe I forgot to mention him before but I think Martin Lopez of ex-Opeth fame deserves a mention. I miss him.

The problem is those most revered are often dead now, and my threads intent is on artists still around, but then again, some nod and mention must be paid!
