(AP) — A single-engine airplane believed to be stolen from an airport in Canada by a student pilot Monday is reported to have landed in southeastern Missouri after being trailed by two jet fighters from Wisconsin. .... By evening, the Wisconsin National Guard deployed two F-16s of its own in an attempt to get the pilot to establish communications with FAA air traffic controllers. The state capitol in Madison, Wisconsin, was evacuated for less than an hour as a precaution. http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/articl...QV4qjwD97DBFH80 Related articles F-16s trail plane taken in Canada and flown south The Associated Press - 8 minutes ago US fighter jets tracking stolen plane from Ont. K^2
Idiot. You have to ground-mask when crossing border to avoid being picked up on FAA radar. Just fly 50 feet over the forest, and you'll be absolutely invisible. Make sure to go to low altitude and surface near airports. That way, on radar, you'll appear to have landed at one location, and a different airplane taken off at another. Since you don't have to identify your plane when flying VFR, you can easily get away with it. You just have to actually pay attention in your flight class when they explain how FAA radars work. Edit: And keep track of your transponder. Turn it off when ground masking, but don't forget to turn it back on when surfacing. Make sure to squak 1200. ryuclan
The state capitol in Madison, Wisconsin, was evacuated for less than an hour as a precaution. What...really? Anyway we don't want to pick a fight with Canada. Imagine all those hockey players. But "Battle of Nova Scotia" sounds pretty damn appealing. fuckindumass
Eh, he wasn't even Canadian. But Canada got him a lot closer to US, and let him steal a plane. What gives Canada? And yeah, come get him, we don't want him

What are they honestly going to do? Launch maple syrup warheads? I lolled. So some Canadian dude flies his plane into the US and gets chased by F16's? Sounds like a drunken bet gone wrong to me, and I've been in a few, they always end up with you being chased by some form of authority (police, army, air force, mayor, your own mum). I can understand the precaution though, if he'd packed that thing from top to bottom with some fancy plastic explosives, it'd make one hell of a firework show. Then people would be 'omg where waz teh F-16's?!?!'

But F-16s are standard procedure for any aircraft violating US border without contacting FAA and implementing special transponders used for identification of international flights. Same would happen if he turned around. Believe it or not, there are some F-16s with maple leaves on them. That's not my problem, and if they felt the need at the time to take that measure, that's entirely up to them. Those F-16's with maple leaves on them, are those the U.S. ones that were parked near a maple forest?! (I know I'm an asshole)

K^2
Well, I for one, am not afraid of the Canadian invasion, despite living across the lake from them. If they send their Cessnas this way, local farmers will take care of them. We had a 152 come back with bullet holes because it was practicing slow turns over someone's farm. I'm sure that if it will be a Canadian plane, these rednecks will actually aim. Prior to filing a bug against any of my code, please consider this response to common concerns. You see, I slip up and give them my exact location, but the best they can do is land over an hour away. That's what happens when you build a plane out of lumber, kids. It's not just me though. Everyone makes fun of Canada around here e.g. do you know what a racist refers to a black person as around here? A Canadian. Conversely, Canadians are refered to as, well, obviously.
