Bada Bing
Is it me or is there some kind of obsession with setting individual deathmatches at the airport. I haven't played that much but it seems alot of people choose the airport. I know, I know, it has helicopters. But really, the fun of deathmatch in my opinion is city warfare... being able to run up alleys and hide behind things, and if you're me, get shot dead from an impossible distance. paul
maybe it's 'cause of it's area and free space. But I like city wars better
LanceVanceDance07
I agree with you that the fun of deathmatch is city warfare. The airport is such an open place and in my opinion, a pretty boring place to do deathmatchs. I haven't played that much either, but I hardly play at the airport. Maybe it's just with you. ChristopherD
I think it has to do with the never ending supply of n00bs... I have to admit I loved the airport for the 1st cpl months I played. With its open spaces, DMs are quick, kill-kill-die-spawn....rinse and repeat. This type of match provides new players still trying to rank up with the best chance at a high kill rate... And more kills = more cash. Your observations just show that you are a more subtle player than most and prefer a challenging and interesting match to the Airport "hack & slash" type match. Oh yea...and I agree with you about urban warfare (in-game)...WAY more fun! I have been looking for and hosting matches on the far left island (been playing for almost a year and still can't remember the names of the islands...lol) and that island has so many nooks and crannies its rediculous! Makes for very interesting matches...even if I DO keep getting cought in dead-ends...lol Edited April 6, 2009 by ChristopherD
Ghett0
With the alleyways in Alderney as long as your prepared you can find good cover Chris.

MrJohn666
The actual reason for playing there is so that players can relax in the first class lounge, or buy tax free cigarettes and booze, whilst leafing through the in-flight magazine.
Double_Deagle
Airport = Huge open space + sniper rifle and good sniper = epic win Good snipers dont need wide open space! They know their environment and adapt to it. I love sniper action in Bohan! Just gives those classic mic commentaries "Where the f*ck are you shooting me from?" "WTF? Where are you?" "Damn, when I find you!" Edited April 7, 2009 by Double_Deagle
SuperJude™
Airport = less thought. Let's see, you have the occasional person making an attempt to use cover, the occasional sniper and the occasional RPG guy and the rest is everybody half decent zig-zagging trying to be the first in headshot range while the n00bs continue to run down the middle of the tarmac and get shot. Of course there was a time I loved the Airport/AA games, it was a fun training ground. Now, if I play Airport at all, it's generally to do the unspeakable (begins with a G *wink*) or have some fun with a sniper rifle, blips far/off matces. Bada Bing
Well, being as I am pretty much a noob and finding my way around (when the playstation network actually lets me stay logged in for more than 5 frickin' minutes), I find the urban warfare helps my skills more. I mean okay, open space warfare works on your shooting skills alone basically, which I know is the point, but the urban warfare lets you develop all your killing and survival skills. But I never thought about it before MrJohn said it... the airport lounge, of course! Anyway, no matter what deathmatch area you're in, I am pretty much easy pickings for now, so if you want to rack up some cash, look for me. But when I get the hang of this thing, watch your back because revenge is a dish better served cold.
Little-Jacob
Ermm... I played the Airportmatches, because i liked to flee with a baggage handler from the helis... I've done a video about that... But now it's boring...

devilrock28
All free modes end up there too... Yeah, they turn out to be the most boring free mode matches because when you are hanging out in Algonquin you are all alone. Then you go to the airport to see what everyone is doing and they start killing you. Although, I have been lucky to get into some servers where everyone is stunting at the airport. Most amazing servers I've ever seen. Some people are slamming head-on into each other with motorcycles or doing double back flips over planes. It's pretty awesome until someone joins and starts killing everyone and then it just turns into a big deathmatch with words going across the screen saying "XXXX wants to kick XXXX"
alx-ndr
yeah deathmatches at the airport are tiring, u hav no chance to rest. I played a aa disallow 30min one an got 82-25, that was like the most tiring bit of gaming i've played ever.
Pr0xy_fl00d3r
I agree wholeheartedly here, you just simply cant find a game of IV these days without it being on the Airport, its got to that stage where I hate the Airport. If I was going to play TDM, Bohan is my ideal area or the Industrial section in Alderney. The two are much better.

I love to play Bohan, Prison, Docks, Colony Island with Disallow. Sometimes I'll try out the other areas that aren't Dukes/Broker but the only time I run an airport match is to screw around with rocket launchers, if a pilot happens to join my team or if somebody requests airport. I truly am tired of airport as it's been the most popular destination for like a year now

I agree with you 100%. The deathmatches in the airport aren't as good as the ones in the city. There's more places to hide and not much huge open spaces where you could just get shot easily. MrJohn666
If you dont want auto aim turn it off in your settings, and if you dont want blips turn off the radar. You're missing the point - disabling auto aim only affects your own skills. I can use either, but am not skilled with AA off to survive in an AA on game with some auto-lock aggressors who think they are good. That and AA makes your car a bullet magnet for the unskilled. AA off users prefer to play against AA off users, then the playing field is level. etc

Ahrne
I used to play alot in airport because I had a low end comp and the airport was the only map where i wouldn't lag out in less than 5 min. I think this could be a reason why so much people are playing that map, not all have a decent comp that can run GTA IV flawless.
