Breaking Bohan
They say it happened last night and destroyed this old city - so far there are like 90 killed and maybe tens of thousands homeless. Please go help them if you live there - or keep them in your thoughts/prayers. Any earthquakes where you are? I've never experienced one I could actually feel (thankfully). --- http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/7985958.stm ---

ChanandlerBong
Thankfully there hasn't been any earthquakes where I live. Sad to hear about what happened though... Fabio206
Over 150 killed people at the moment and 100.000 people without houses now, it's a big tragedy
Rebel
Its terrible news, especially since it was the middle of the night so they couldn't even do anything before it was too late. I've never experienced a full earthquake only tremors, even that was a little scary so god knows what it would feel like to actually be in a proper one. Nemesi
I live at 400km from the place, so here there was no damage, but everything shaked in my room last night... It's a f*cking bad news
ElSaxo
I live very far from L'Aquila, however this is a sad day for everyone... http://translate.google.com/translate?prev...history_state0= Unfortunately this translation isn't so good, but expresses very well this tragedy... mr_bungle
Yeah, I've had my fair share of little earthquakes. The fault line isn't too far from where I live, maybe only a few hundred metres. And the worst part is, the Wellington Region, where I live, is 150 years overdue for a massive earthquake
Aussiebushmatt
sh*t, I was in Italy quite recently. One of my relatives called up to check if I was still in Italy or not.
SIKKS66
Hard to imagine what that sh*t is even like when you live in the UK, a place not known for its devastating earthquakes. Sad to hear.

WizardSmash
wasnt a strong quake, but it was very close to built up areas, it just tore down badly built houses
manofpeace
Sucks that so much ancient architecture was lost. The place had so much history, and now a lot of it's gone.

Nemesi
Things are getting worse, over 200 people death, a lot of distructions... And a lot of buildings were built less than 10 years ago. It's a sismic zone, but no-one did anything to prevent this. The hospital was renovated a few years ago. As always here people cares only about money: who built didn't build in the right way to make more money, and now we have a lot of deaths and people without home and job. But in TV there're a lot of shows about it, a lot of politicians that show themself, everyone talk but nothing useful will be done. f*ck, how I hate who runs my country. Slamman
Less then 210 dead I see reported, however, 50 to 70,000 people are now homeless... Imagine that! I know people have it worse then me, but I can't imagine being without everything it took your whole life to build up. To really start over from 0. SWEETSAPRIK
The sad thing is that when the one scientist suggested this might happen soon (using some technique having to do with radon levels) everyone wrote him off as a loon. They even went as far as reporting him to police for trying to cause a panic because he posted his findings (including seismograph readings) online. Hopefully they take whatever precautions they can, especially considering the fact that earthquakes like this can set off other earthquakes (not just aftershocks) in the surrounding areas. Wesser
I live very far from L'Aquila Me too, I live in South of Italy but I didn't feel any earthquake shake. The killed people are 278 and 28.000 of evacuees. Really bad on thinking what those people are living. 012 345 678 9A BCD EFG HIJK LMN OPQR STUV WX YZ

Wesser
Aquila's earthquake cannot end for a while. In 1980, the south of Italy suffered a stronger earthquake than aquila had. After that, the next shakes were about ten in all days but they had a smaller intensity. Geophisycal have some suspect of what are happening on the earth: they discovered about some fractures and a reduced lake water level. Maybe there's a lava activity but I don't know. 012 345 678 9A BCD EFG HIJK LMN OPQR STUV WX YZ
