I vs.d a level 10 in a DM last night just to prove to him that 10 is just a number. We played a 10 minute match and he got one point in the lead at about 7 mins and just ran away for the rest of the game. Lol. Then he messaged me and said he is the best and im a n00b.

Could have sworn I posted this already!

Anyway, I came up with a spiffy new twist on Dealbreaker: clearing the ENTIRE structure of people by shooting from the Maverick. deejay and I gave this a shot a couple times earlier and I must say, it was awesome.

I guess maybe you need to have played a lot of Dealbreaker to really "get" why this would be so amusing, but essentially most Dealbreaker games involve a lot of driving, then some shooting, then a lot more driving. You get to a destination, a structure in south Alderny where you kill a bunch of bikers, collect packages. Once you've killed them all and collected all the packages, more bikers spawn in escape locations. Kill them, get back to your starting point, end game.

Once you get good they involve flying/driving, coordinated shooting, timing and knowledge of where the bikers spawn. 10 to 15 minute games start ending in more like 7 minutes.

I no longer play with AA in Dealbreaker yet deejay and I managed to beat R* time, with just 2 people, playing Disallow. So what was next? Tailgunning!

It's really amusing shooting all the bikers in all their odd locations, up and down the building, tucked beneath pipes on the bottom, etc. and made for some VERY COOL looking action.

Of course it helps to have a decent pilot and helps to be a decent shooter, especially from a moving vehicle.

Tried this again, the idea being to use 2 choppers. We had johnwontscore and Arcterus with us but...the 2nd chopper wouldn't spawn, I flew too close and got Arcterus killed, maybe needed some more coordination...or maybe you just have to be a Dealbreaker junkie to even find this idea amusing?

Either way, it's a fun adventure and we managed to beat the game in about 15 minutes, not bad considering.

We DID notice an interesting find/glitch: When you do all your shooting from the chopper, you get 3 less bikers to kill, less packages to pick up. Not certain if R* intentionally designed it this way just so adventurous sorts such as oursevles could figure this out but it's totally weird and a pretty cool find!!!

Playing in FM today and got this. I suffered the consequences  BTW. Boom.

Is this common? Never seen it before.

Wait, you've never had the game threaten you to turn back or suffer the consequences before? It's a border that goes over the ocean around the entire map, so you don't get too far out to sea. However, the distance from land to the border differs depending on which side of the map you're on. The furthest you can go out to sea without the message popping up is if you go from Algonquin (the middle island) straight south. If you do that, you can actually go off the map smile.gif

OK, now I have questions on this.

If everyone flies do you still get all those guys running up and down the stairs? That would make that a little harder. Or do you shoot all the guys on the ground first?

Do you know which guys are missing? Probably the guys missing are on the ground, I bet all the guys in the building are all in the same place.

You kill all the bikers and then either 1 or 2 run through the building to pick up all the money ( or what ever they are). So you must start at the bottom and work your way up and get the ones on the top floor where the pilot is waiting for you.

Do you drop grenades on the guys on the top floor? Just cause it's fun? This must be even more fun with 4 people and 3 spawns.

I gotta try to find someone else to do this with. So far I'm at about $2 million with all my accounts in DB, It would be nice to try another way.

We tried to grenade the top guys but that would take a little practice so we ditched the concept and went straight for the tailgunning with AK and SMG.

The guys that don't spawn - there are 3 random shotgun guys that usually will be down on the bottom but also make their way up the stairs sometimes. Figuring those are the ones who don't spawn.

Killing - nope we managed to kill every single biker from the chopper. Most of them stay in the same spot, easy enough and for the guys moving up the stairs, across the platforms, let's just say I hope you're good at headshots from a moving vehicle, though it's not impossible, especially with a good pilot, kind of the same as doing a driveby.

We didn't start at the bottom but at the top and sort of work on who we could see, then move down, kill as many as you can, then fly to the next side of the building. That's key right there. You need to fly by all 4 sides of the building to get every biker, and also must clear top to bottom, which is why having a decent Maverick pilot with you really matters.

Oh, I would switch between AK and SMG or you'll run out of AK ammo, or at least I did my first round before I got used to tailgunning.

Once the building is clear, we had one guy start at the top, one at the bottom but I think in the spirit of things, next time I try this I might have the pilot drop the gunner at the bottom, the fly to the top and wait for them.

Too bad you can't snipe from the Maverick. Either way, this could be a fun approach to the second part of BDB II, clearing all those dudes off the deck of the ship from the chopper, though this is obviously not the way to go for speed!

I was chasing guy around Alderney the other day, him driving a car and me in the annihilator. I couldn’t believe my luck when he drove into and parked in a petrol station to take cover. I’ve never come across anyone stupid enough to do that. It’s a small petrol station with the pumps close together, which must have been why they all exploded at the same time. The guy’s car was destroyed of course, but he was thrown into the street behind. I circled over to him to start shooting, but I noticed the guy was burning as he ran. I just thought how shocking it must have been for him. He died of course.

More shocking was what happened at the airport. When you get someone’s copter on fire, one of the things they often do is bail out, usually over the sea. I’ve seen a lot of pilots bail and a while ago I started diving after them and trying to shoot them as they fell through the air. Sooner or later I had to hit one. So I shot this guy as he was falling through the air. Totally lucky shot really, but he didn’t know that. That must have been a real wtf moment for him. He never sent any messages though, a bit disappointing.

lol nice bro, but when my chopper catches fire, I dart 4 the closest health pack. I also see people doing this most of the time, as seeing people bailing is rare.

I was playing an airport fm today with a friend. There were only four of us in total but this guy on top of the hangar with the sniper rifle was completely dominating us for a good 10-15 minutes. He was firing rockets and i was running for the big block things. The block sheilded me from the explosion and the shooter was in plain sight and range of my ak47. I did a few quick taps on the fire button and he died. He must have been fed up because he just quit the match. It was one of the funnest fms and he just left because he got killed once.

Those are the "practice in FM then go to DM" type of players who are hilarious because they take it so seriously that it makes things all that much more fulfilling when you demonstrate their GTA 4 mortality.

Sickrage: yes, most people run straight for health as soon as they take a bit of damage. But if you pretend to be a crap/3rd person gunner by missing them, then climb to high altitude, they follow, they move in for the kill, you empty your guns into them, they have a roof fire and health is a long way down, they often bail. Which reminds me of something I wanted to post here last time but forgot about.

The most unlucky guy I killed in the manner above. Airport. I emptied the guns into him so he had a roof fire. To make sure he wouldn’t go for health, I took his tail off. He’s spinning round on fire high up and I’m thinking that he’s gonna bail, but this jet comes in and the front of it hits him, breaks his rotors off and he lands on its wing, and for a few seconds he stays on its wing. He slides off, drops a couple more seconds and then explodes. What a way to go. It seemed to me that the game just wanted that guy emphatically dead.

I thought this thread needed a revival and had a few funny/weird things happen.

First, racing a GTA race, 1 lap horse punch, I don't remember the cars, but it wasn't supercars/sport cars, but some kind of cars. I got into the lead and when I do I grab all the weapons until I get the grenades and then toss a few and see what happens. Well the grenades were just after the last turn before the end and the other guys were too far back to hit so I slowed down near the end so they could catch up. I toss them all right before the end, pass the line and then watch at the end and see the 2 other guys were tied, they both blow up and finish at the same time. I got the $200 plus $750 for winning the race. Never saw someone finish the race and die at the same time before.

Next playing DB I have seen this guy on here sometimes, Jimbatron, he was trying to help 2 guys get the achievement. So I just happen to get in on it. So I flew, they all drive, we clear the building, I get the boat, the other 2 guys get another spawn and I see Jmbatron going up on the highway going after the last one. So I fly up there, help him get that one and jump in the chopper and check the map. Those guys are coming up behind us, cool, time is tight, but it is still gettable. 1st guy is on a motorcycle pulls up, jumps off and is about to get in.........And then the wheels fall off the wagon. The other guy is driving a PMP 600, he skids into motorcycle guy knocking him a good 10-15 seconds down the highway. If it was bowling, I'd say it was a perfect strike.

PMP guy gets in the chopper and I look at the time.6:10. If we left then, we would get it unless someone screws up at the end. So the guy runs back, gets in and we leave. I probably could have flown forward and picked him up, I was just laughing too hard. Now the time is 6:30. If I had made a perfect garage landing we might have gotten it, but I never can and we end at 7:15. I love trying to help people with the co op times, and it's surprising how many times things like this happen so you just miss it.

Next game, PMP guy doesn't show up, maybe he is embarrassed that he screwed up. So Jim and motorcycle guy leave and get to the building at about 1:45, and they are really kicking ass when I check. Me on the other hand am searching in vain for the chopper. Go to the house, no chopper, go around the back, still doesn't spawn. So I look and they are racking up the kills so I head over to the booth tunnel and luckily it is there. I didn't even get to the building til like 3:30, and we still got it so don't give up if you don't find a chopper. If only to see what happens at the end. Love that DB.

One method deejay showed me (not sure if he discovered it or got it from someone else) that helps with the garage landing at the end is this...

You need the outside car to spawn, the bottom up guys take that car...

The fly guy grabs the car on the left (water side) car, drives it forward and left a bit and stops it between the 2 garages-- this keeps the door open, get out and get in the other car and drive to the heli-- costs you (and you only) about 6 seconds up front...

When you come back if you approach right you coast right in... on PS3 at least, the door will look closed as you approach.. as you get closer it will show it as open... so don't let it scare you and alter your glide path as you come in... you do come in pretty hot (don't have to slow at all) just try not to be too high or low...

This saves everyone about 8 to 12 seconds or more at the end from landing out side and having to run into the garage...

Got a 5:51 yesterday with deejay and a 3rd guy without a mic with this method-- and it did update in my stats-- is my personal best now... and was far from a perfect run.

Another thing I've noticed regarding the outside car spawn... is that if you are the host, and you watch the cutscene at the start of the mission-- up to the car spawning outside, that it will be there (and the same color) as in the cutscene-- but if you just click out of the cutscene as it starts, that more times then not, the car won't spawn...

Does not seem to be affected if you are NOT the host....

I'll have to look for that. I noticed if you join a lobby after someone else is there, many times if the car will spawn, you will see it as soon as the cut scene starts and it will be the same color like you say. I didn't hear about watching it before though.

I also think I figured out at least part of the reason why I have so much of a hard time. I play mostly with people from Europe it seems and when I come in for a landing I see 1 door open. Most people I play with say I go for the door that doesn't open so I see the door open, but since they are so far away, the other door opens for them. I found that if I go for the door that isn't open, I am more likely to finish the game making the landing. I have gotten it several times lately like this although it is more like 20% I do it. It is still way more than I got before.

I will also try the other way parking the car there.

TMW, Bohan, FF on. I was in a team with 4 people (an 8, and 2 lowbies) v a 2 or 3 people in diff teams. Me and the 8 was tearing it up when i noticed FF was on and one of our lowbies killed her, and again.. (oh yeah radar was on near)

The 8 ended up leaving.. and the dick started killing our other team mate. They left aswell.. So i stocked up on some grenades, nest time i saw him he started shooting at my car, left a grenade in front and behind then dashed away to do a task (came up he had died he he)

I was then tearing about in a PMP (brill car for TMW, especially if you end up getting atask, pick up x amount of people) he was in a Banshee and proceded to peep his horn then shoot out my tyres, i got away and ended up dieing to the other guys. I respawn next to this team killing punk. He tried to knock me down, fail! Couple of shots, Banshee is now mine ha ha He respawns seeing me tear away in his beloved car and leaves game smile.gif And then theres me leaving the game with 7k tounge.gif

I say again, the key trick to DB which nobody else seemed to notice was to have the Chopper guy land on the roof, then leave one package for pickup. You will always have a package up top and in the rare instance you don't, there will always be one where the 2 bikers spawn on the 6th floor. This way you don't need to coordinate who gets what package and when, the pilot is the pacesetter so they can wait on the others or grab their and ready for the boat spawn.

Trick if the chopper doesn't spawn: drive to the gas station and blow up the gas tanks. Half the time this will spawn the chopper, unless somebody leaves a car on the landing pad which happens quite frequently. Anymore if the chopper doesn't spawn right away after blowing the tanks, I just make a beeline for the second chopper. Might lose out on kills but your teammates will likely still need you (if you're a good pilot that is).

On another note, what is it with people stealing your money in TDM? I was clearly getting some hard fought kills yesterday and this 8 star guy would wait for me to get the kills then run up and steal the money. I tried every way to make him stop (message, vote kick, etc) and the only thing which worked was blasting him with an RPG before he could steal my cash.

Why do people do this intentionally?

Yeah i'v noticed people play like that on DB. I tend to just drive there (sorry deejay lol) kill and pick up as i can. Saw some twisted c*nts leaving the package up top, while they sit on a car / bike at the bottom waiting for you to pick the last one up.. Not sure if i have done DB time or not, will need to do all 3 at somepoint, i want all the online trophies tounge.gif

lol f*cking theifs. Yeah i'v came across some of them before, i tend to just leave them to it. Collecting only tends to get you a couple of hundred more, but when theres been a big massacre, just so tempting to pick it all up. Best way to deal with it, FF off biggrin.gif

I think you just have to drive around the back and it may spawn. It is hit or miss. I never tried blowing up that gas station.

I always go around the front, if it isn't there, spin around and go around the back and if it still isn't there then head to the tunnel. The most common way is drive by the motorcycle place, go over the unique jump over the highway, past your Alderney safehouse , down the hill and to the chopper. Is there a faster way? that's the fastest way I found.

snap map Stupid map, only works every so often.

Link to comment

Nah I think that's the fastest way, certainly the route I take. Do the jump over the roadway/building and it's just a little bit to the other chopper. Even if you land short on the jump, you're still pretty close.

Random players are the exact types who don't seem to care about packages. Not much you can do if they don't have mics other than deal with it or quit the game as griefing them does nothing since they don't know why they are being griefed.

Myself, I drive and fly is both fine by me, doesn't matter. In fact I'm getting my jump off the Highway to the spot to be pretty accurate each and every time, all about the angle of approach and using the ability to tilt the car in midair.

Far out, this pisses me off! It happens to me all the time. You get some c*nts that don't even TRY shoot anyone - all they do is run around picking up cash. I understand that sometimes you're going to run over my money (and me over yours) in the normal course of events getting to a kill, and that's ok. And when I play on my 10 star account in a TDM with my buddies, I'll tell them they can have all my cash - but don't f*ckin' do it without my say so!! Grrrrr!!!

I just found the best deathmatch settings. I played one on Colony Island, assault riffles, respawn near with 24 people. It was only a 10 minute game, but with so many people it was an absolute frenzy. Since the island is so small whoever you kill will respawn really close to you and if you die you may end up right behind your killer. You had to constantly look at the mini map to see if anyone respawned behind you. I got over 60 kills in 10 minutes. That might not be great for some of you, but it's pretty good for me. I also died 25 times. The winner had almost 80 kills. It was the most fun DM I have ever played. I don't think you could play for much longer though. It was too frenzied.

Do any of you guys like to play matches like this? I never even tried til today. It was great.

24 ppl?? what are u talkinga bout you can only have 16 ppl in one game

PC can have up to 32. I have played a few 32 person games. It's too many. The game gets too laggy. Did a 32 person truck race once. that was like 29 fire trucks and a few others. It was pretty fun, but too laggy.
