Emotion98.3
I have yet to test it out, I just bought the "Linksys Wireless N Dual-Band Ultra RangePlus Gaming Adapter. If anybody has this gaming adapter for there 360/PS3 (I'm sure somebody does) can you give me any feedback on how much distance this Router can go. Or how fast it is, i had a Belkin G Gaming Adapter, and that worked, then it lost a connection to our Home Router and i couldn't get it to set up again. So if anybody knows anything about it, how far it can reach, etc. I bought it at Best Buy for $99 (108.00 with Tax).
Wolf68k
Adapter makes it sound like you're talking about nothing more than a USB wifi stick or the alike. Which doesn't do much of any good, speed wise, unless there is a N router for it to connect to. So even though it's an N adapter but it's connected to a G router then it'll only get G speeds. As for the range question: G - rated at 54mbit/sec and a range of ~100m N - rated at 600mbit/sec and a range of ~300m

It switches to G, so it acts like a G even if it is a N device. It's like RAM; if you put DDR400 RAM into a mobo that only supports DDR333 then it runs like DDR333 But to make it worse. Let's say you have a N router and you have that N adapter connected to it so you'll get the N speed and range, but if a G device connects to the N router as well then the whole router (at least the wifi) runs at G, so even that N adapter gets nerfed to G settings. There are routers that offer a way around this but they cost a good deal more. Edited April 6, 2009 by Wolf68k
