evanwier Posted April 2, 2009 Share Posted April 2, 2009 Alright, so every time I play GTAIV when I load it up it starts out amazing, great fps on almost all high, then it seems to get laggier and laggier, adn eventually settles down at a decent fps... the problem is, I only get this decent FPS at Day Time and in Clear weather. If this game ever goes to night, or fog, or rain, then I get 15-20 FPS on ANY setting, I have tried all low, all high, all medium, everything in between, no luck. I have used -memrestrict lines with no luck and tried 2 different Nvidia drivers thus far... As for my specs Q6600 @ 3.2GHz 4gb DDR2 1066 EVGA 9800GX2 512 So I should easily be able to run this game (and I do run everything else just fine including Crysis on high settings with a HD res...) but this game just kills my computer, it's like watching a slide show, on a dual GPU card with a quad core I shoulndnt be this bad... can anyone help? Simulated-AI Posted April 3, 2009 Share Posted April 3, 2009 Same here... One guy told me to lower my settings, but it didn't help. I just begins to lag no matter what settings i have. One day i loaded a game in the middle of a rainy night, it ran fine! I fell its mostly the transsition to rain/night that lags. And after some playing time, transsition to rain can kill the game! mkey82 Posted April 3, 2009 Share Posted April 3, 2009 Have you tried lowering the shadow density? It should help. And it's rather funny, I get the best experience during night. evanwier Posted April 3, 2009 Author Share Posted April 3, 2009 Yeah I've tried shadows off, density down, settings every which way, the problem is, doesnt seem to matter if I'm on all high, or all low, just maybe takes a bit longer to get laggy.
