worst thing in my opision is that rockstar completly messed up the controls management. I (being a GTA user from the first hour) actually didnt continued the game past the 3rd mission, because it was barely playable for me. Even with with xinput.dlls and xbox360 controller emulator I was still not able to completely map the controls like i wanted. this was a huge disappointment and resulted in that I deinstalled the game

Indeed. The short-sighted console-centric controls pretty much stopped me playing the game, even after upgrading my PC to an acceptable level of performance. That R* sold out so comprehensively to MS in the way the X-Box controller got 100% of the share until the DLLs appeared, is nothing short of a big "f*ck you" to loyal customers and long-term fans like us. It will no doubt determine whether I even bother with any forthcoming instalments of the franchise, if that's the kind of disrespect we're likely to receive. This is of course going on the assumption that the PC ever sees another GTA. I suspect, without a huge change of tack on behalf of R*, PC support of this game and any potential sequels will be highly unlikely, and on the strength of this particular episode, I couldn't care less.

Well, it's been like that for a while now. And I don't see it changing.

I they publish again on this engine, yes. If not, maybe not.

I kinda agree. Before I was all mad and sh*t, cause of all the injustice, but now I'm more like "blah". If they publish it again, I'll definitively skip the preorder and wait to see if the game returns back to it's roots.

I really miss the pimping of your car.It was great saving up a few quid to get your car looking good,I used to drive it so carefully through the city and if anyone so much as scratched it I would pull em outta their car and beat em into next week. But then there was that bug (for me anyway) when you parked your brand new pimped car in one of the garages, only to go back later and find it has dissparerd mad.gif

I also miss the variety of vehicles,it was great burning the town up in the planes,bikes,go-karts,hovercrafts.And I miss the two players on the same screen ripping the town up,many a night has been lost to just causing mayhem with a mate togther.I know we have the multiplayer now,but its just not the same as being in the same room sharing a spliff and dowing a few beers biggrin.gif

I miss the remote mines, they bought a whole new meaning to causing a bit of mayhem. You could lay a trap, then cause a bit of sh*t with the rozzers and set em off.

Oh and I miss the silly costumes CJ could wear, nothing better then causing mayhem in a gimp mask and pants while twatting the pigs with a big pink dildo.

Now that I have "finished" (reason for quotes coming up) the game, I'd like to change my vote. There is a bug in the very last mission. You have to hit "space bar" to do something. Except it doesn't work. I tried 6 times to make it to this part of the mission, and this bug prevented me from actually finishing the game.

I am done.

p.s. Yes, I know about the workaround. No, I am not downloading fraps to fix a bug Rockstar should have fix by version 1.03, when it was reported since the beginning.

Agreed. I got to the last mission and then watched the rest on Youtube. You didn't miss much.

i voted processor dependent. although i wish i could have voted 5 other things aswell. the gameplay was already flawed on the consoles, this implementation of natural motion killed any feedback to the player. what we got was a character that kept running the wrong way, lagged in getting his phone out to enter cheats (dumb), couldn't use guns properly, took half an hour to climb a fence. the list really goes on and on. no thorough playtesting was carried out to assess annoyances and to remedy them. one thing that has made gta so successful in the past is its pick up and go gameplay, and gtaiv isn't quite that.

for the pc things just got worse. it plays and looks like a halfass afterthought. pc gamers really dont need protecting from themselves when it comes to graphics setup. pc gamers need protection from shoddy releases like gtaiv pc. and how hard is it to support direct input for all controllers, or is that microsoft grabbing you by the balls to buy their idiot-pad.

somehow the install uses nearly twice as much space as it did on a x360 DVD-DL and looks just as bad. when setting the textures to high the game fails to render geometry anyway. it cant enumerate graphical ram properly, and how was it a good idea to drop most of the processing load onto the cpu.

the game renderer is terrible, streaming in objects have some horrible aggregate grain on them, alphas on trees and such are undefined and blurred, shadows have been in games since 1995, this game cant do shadows, and no AA allowed - on a game that desperately needs it.

i understand the rage engine may be a work in progress, but if your next title hasn't moved on from this grainy blurred mess, please revert to renderware.

joining with games for windows live is a humdinger, god knows how many checks and useless achievement syncronisations are going on in the background stalling your badly made game. then theres the requirement of .net, flash, internet explorer and a securom rootkit... seriously, its a game, no one launches this thing to watch flash videos of the fortunate ones who get to play the game. if you wanted to introduce that somehow, why not build the videos into the useless malicious whoring rockstar games social club.exe (seriously this one is a bad joke). or don't.

gone are the days when you could run a game cleanly from an exe folks. now they're dependent on 6 other heavy applications to be running to combat piracy. the game was cracked within one day.

find a new way to combat piracy without penalising paying users.
