JeddyH
This is pretty obvious, but are you using the no sun mod?

Actually thats a pretty good picture. If I can see the sun then the sun can see me so there should be shadows This is pretty obvious, but are you using the no sun mod? No im not

Go to the beach is the best place for us to see your so-called "no shadow problem."

There should at least be some sun hitting the floor or building in that picture. Look around its a big areas so there should be sunlight hitting somewhere but there isnt. Theres no shadows in anywhere of that picture what so ever. Btw look in the distance of the second picture. You can see sunlight hitting the road. But as I get closer to it the sunlight dissapears. Get what I mean?
mkey82
Did you maybe install the update and then try to revert back to previous version (i.e. via the repair option)?
badguy
Did you maybe install the update and then try to revert back to previous version (i.e. via the repair option)? Actually I installed 1.0.3.0. Then went back to 1.0.2.0 by downloading the patch and installing it
CaptainDingo
Uh, don't ever install an old patch over a newer version of a game. You're just asking for problems.
Vicetopia
Actually I installed 1.0.3.0. Then went back to 1.0.2.0 by downloading the patch and installing it I have this same problem when using 1.0.3.0 and then using the 1.0.2.0 deferred light files, and then turning shadows off. So basically it looks like a problem that can arise when mixing the two patches (And their deferred lighting files?). Simple solution go back to 1.0.3.0 or reinstall the game and patch to 1.0.2.0. You might also be able to fix it by downloading the 1.0.2.0 shadow files (In the Shadow Fix thread).

mkey82
Couldn't you use the validate option form Steam? Or will that one just revalidate your files as 1.0.3.0 version?
Vicetopia
My problem is that I dont have shadows at all Re-read my post. I've created the exact same problem as you by swapping out the 1.0.3.0 and 1.0.2.0 shadow files, you need to do the same thing, but in reverse. Vicetopia
I replaced my shadow files with 1.0.3.0 shadow files before. Got some GTAIV FATAL ERROR. Then you did something wrong. If you're running patch 1.0.2.0, the files linked in that thread are the 1.0.2.0 shadow files. Anyway I don't know if it will fix the problem, just worth trying since it only takes a few seconds... I went to the shadows fix thread, downlaoded the files and replaced each file one by one and made a backup of each file i replaced. Maybe 1.0.3 can use 1.0.2 shadow files but 1.0.2 cnat use 1.0.3 shadow files
