How to use -memrestrict to fix stuttering

Question

Rockstar Toronto

If you are experiencing frame speed fluctuations, please update to the latest video drivers, then use the -memrestrict commandline. Please do not use any other commandlines as they may override the effects of this one. Start at the lowest number based on your texture setting (ie. try them one at a time) You can try to increase the number until you notice stuttering again.

-memrestrict 188743680 LOW TEXTURES (256M Video Cards)

-memrestrict 209715200

-memrestrict 230686720

-memrestrict 262144000 MED TEXTURES (512M Video Cards)

-memrestrict 293601280

-memrestrict 314572800

-memrestrict 629145600 HIGH TEXTURES (1Gig+ Video Cards)

-memrestrict 650117120

-memrestrict 681574400

If you still notice stuttering with the lowest number, there may be a seperate issue with your system configuration.

What are the system specifications? It takes a triple-core CPU and 3-4GB of RAM to play GTA IV at medium with a decent framerate. The better the hardware, the better the results. Well, that's how it should be at least, but this isn't always the case. At which settings do you play the game?

Which commandline would you recommend me for a 3 gig GPU?

Also, how do I frame limit GTA IV (along with EfLC)? I want to add a 32 FPS cap (I usually do that with a video recording software, but it's capped only when I'm recording), when I set it to 30 Hz refresh rate It's laggy as hell, but setting it to 60Hz and then adding a cap to the frame limit makes the gameplay smooth.

Tomas.

Don't use -memrestrict with Patch 8, for some reason it doesn't work fine with it, popping textures are pretty less noticeable now as well anyway

It works fine for me, reduced all the stutter, But what do you mean popping textures?

if you are using ENB delete all of the ENB files and try starting the game. Worked for me. I uninstalled ICEnhancer 3.0 from my game. But make sure to keep the files in folders like common and pc.

PC Specifications

Windows 10 64-BIT Operating Syestem

GTX 1080TI 11GB Founders Edition SLI Graphics Card

8 GB Corsair Ram

Intel i7- 7700K Processor

Edit :- You can just delete d3d9.dll (the main ENB file) if you want.

Another edit (lol) :- If using ICEnhancer 2.1, then delete smaa.dll file and try playing the game.
