The game is great. I'm at the soccer(football) stadium. When you shoot people it looks like they are really getting shot and when its done in bullet-time it really shines. Levels are detailed and beautiful. Story is engaging. Uh, its fun.

There are some scenes in strip club/whore house in favela i think, striptease and one sex scene i remember.

So let me ask you something, riddling bodies and skulls with bullets is ok, but nudity is no no ?

The metacritic score is 88 for the 360 and 90 for the ps3.  Pretty solid so far, especially for the consoles.  Now it's just a matter of seeing how user scores stack up against critic scores.

I personally haven't been taking the professional reviews any more seriously than I intend to take the user reviews. One of them was actually complaining that not only is cover not effective enough (it isn't supposed to be effective - it's Max Payne, not Gears of War), but that the lack of regenerating health meant the gameplay was "dated." Apparently if your game doesn't try to appeal to the Call of Duty audience, it's considered dated. Absolutely f*cking ridiculous.

 

Like all games, I intend to ignore all outside opinions until I try it for myself. I can't wait for the 29th.

Agreed. I've been missing the whole Medkit Collecting from days of Old anyway, as long as Max's Body damage is as persistant as the AI's, it'll be a great experience.

First impressions, MP was a lot of fun and very cool but not without it's aggravations.

Played some multiplayer with Tets and meta tonight. Christ, there was definitely a few issues.

 

I first got the game and played four MP matches with them, then all of a sudden I got disconnected from the server. When meta tried to re-invite me, I got a notice saying, "Join failed: blacklisted." I was wondering how the hell I got blacklisted, since I purchased the game legally and started playing it on May 15, so I had to have an online chat with Microsoft and I filed a ticket with R*.

 

Oddly enough, about an hour later, I tried joining a random match in MP and it worked; if meta tried inviting me, it still failed, but when I invited him, no problem. So yeah, some bugs need to be worked out.

 

There was also a forced update about four hours after midnight, which sucked because I was right in the middle of kicking some ass in a team deathmatch.

The Good

-High level of customization.

-Great set pieces.

-Top notch RDR style shooting.

-There's a soft target, auto aim mode and a manual aim mode (like IV and RDR) to choose from depending on your skill and preference.

-The unlockable system is pretty damn elaborate and borrows from a lot of sucessful shooters.

-Was genuinely fun.

 

The Bad

-Some terribly laggy games, much expected.

-Gang Wars: A sectioned off objective mode. Feels very good during some objectives and completely rough and unbalanced in others. During one objective we had to pick up money bags and run with them. They refused to be picked up.

- Melee? How the f*ck do you do it?

-If you're playing soft aim mode don't even bother with shotguns, you get ranged killed quite a bit.

 

The Ugly

-Most of what Icarus mentioned above.

-Spawn trapping, it's a thing. (Already ). Some maps really play to it as well.

-Feuds: We encountered one Feud with the large Public Crew, The Payne Killers. There was no indication we were entering into a feud one moment, then suddenly we get this very small message "You are now in a feud with MP3". Literally 5 seconds later we get another message, "You lost the Feud to MP3". We were all like "wtf?!" So a feud looks and feels like the Crew equivalent of a Vendetta and can happen just that quick. I expected it to be something that would at the very least play out till the end of the match but it doesn't.

-You can get seperated from the Crew you are playing with and thrown on the other side, despite being in a party.

-If you are on a winning team and the other side decides to leave the match there's a very good chance you will get tossed on to the losing team to "balance" the match. WTF?!

Started the campaign and I actually performed a melee on an enemy. You have to get really close to them and push the right trigger.

I don't have enough money to buy it right now but would this be worth dropping a few dollars on to rent? Is the campaign good and is the multiplayer worth it? I've watched some reviews and it looks good I just want to know if it would be worth it to rent it until the price drips this summer and I can buy it.

I haven't played it, but from what i have seen campaign is definitely worth buying, multiplayer not so much, customisation is deep, but there is no skill or tactic involved everybody are running and gunning, maybe that could change with teamwork and playing for longer period of time to get some xp, but i don't feeling it.

Oh, and you would probably be annoyed when you shot someone with dozen bullets and he is not dead, that is the only minus in singleplayer, but fortunately i play on PC so i will adjust weapons damage in files.

The ending was happy, to bright, but didn't get epilogue,i expected proper closure with famous max's monologue.
