MOTHER OF GOD. Rumours were true.

Have developers ditched minimum / recommended requirements and instead gone for bare minimum requirements / everything-turned-the-f*ck-up maximum requirements? A middle of the road would be more comforting. Jeez. Seeing games already even listing cards that were only released a month ago and are still in short supply do not make me a happy camper. Looks like we'll be running on Medium with this one, GTX 560 love.

As for the 35gb - wow. I had figured it was a typo but I really want Rockstar to explain themselves on that one. I really can't think of any other vanilla stand-alone Video Game taking up 35GB. A few MMO's are in the vicinity of it, but a linear shooter is currently taking the piss.

I really don't see what could possibly be making this weigh in at 35GB.  .

I'm going hopefully with "painstaking attention to detail". They've commented more than once that since this isn't an open world game they've gone double time on the set pieces and making everything feel just so within the mission settings, so hopefully we'll have time to stop and smell the flowers between hails of gunfire and gouts of bloodspray.

There were always opportunities to explore the environments in the first two games along with things you could interact with, but still. This is a new milestone in required space for a PC game and not by a little either.

I hate to be a negative Nancy, but the pessimistic side of me wants to guess that maybe they're intentionally bloating the sh*t out of this game in an effort to thwart piracy on the PC. Even if that were true, I personally wouldn't give a sh*t so long as this truly is built from the ground up for the PC, and they say that it definitely is. I can live with a 4-5 hour download from Steam.

friendly luggage

I would never wait for 35GB to download with my connection. I'm glad I'm getting the DVD version.

Expect 5-6 DVDs for PC. Maybe they should put it on Blu-Ray as well?

Don't exaggerate. I predict that it will "only" use 2 DVDs.. 18 GB maximum. And after installing (= uncompressing) it will be 35 GB.

Maybe they are planning lots of DLC's, smaller and bigger both SP and MP, which are all on disc actually from release, but will be unlocked if you buy that DLC. catspider.gif

Which is kind of lame if they do.

But even so, it still would be big.

I expect cut-scenes to be rendered within the games engine so I highly doubt thats taking up that much space. I am honestly stumped, maybe just maybe theres a 2nd trailer for GTA V in there somewhere lol.gif

Damn,what's that?MGS 5?

MGS5 used FMV's, pre-rendered at 1080P. Max Payne's cutscenes are all in engine as it transitions between gameplay and cut-scenes seamlessly. Cutscenes rendered on the fly take up much less space then pre-rendered cutscenes.

Haven't played any MP yet, but man...those PC screens look amazing. If i could have a great gaming rig allready i would consider buying or downloading it, right now it's just a dream...especially with those f*cked up specs. What do those higher specs mean? No way the recomended specs...maybe so you could play with every visual setting max?

In a way I have to sort of agree with that. It looks like they just ported again and this time I have just put ridiculous system specs up so people can't complain like they did when they tried to run the horribly unoptimized GTA IV.

I mean 6 core processor should not be needed for this, when I have seen dual cores pump out battlefield 3 on decent settings. That also to do with the fact that Battlefield 3 is well optimized and draws alot from the graphics card (Which in todays PC gaming climate is the best option).

Looks like my poor GTX 460 may have to hit the shelfs. Was planning to upgrade to something like a GTX 570 if I ever get the cash in the summer.

What's hard to process is the gap between the minimum specs and what I guess are the 'recommended' specs. What kind of crap can be turned on/off to make a game that runs on 2.4 dual core need a 3.0ghz i7 with 6 cores? Disabling the physics engine? I don't get it.

Those are some f*cking ridiculous specs. How does it even take up 35GB? Isn't that close to LA Noire's file size?

16 GB of RAM? 16 f*cking GB of RAM? What the f*ck is this game doing? Simulating the Universe? What kind of game needs that?

They must be f*cking high. I could try to understand the HDD space.. but the RAM use is retarded.

This game will be extremely huge.

There's no way you need all that bleeding hardware just to run the game on highest settings. It's asking the best available hardware on the retail market? Come on now. Although that 35 GB number is still f*cking mind-boggling. It's gotta be a record.

I feel bad for the Xbox users as well. All that disc swapping is gonna make you want to chop your cock off.

Xbox 360 has been shown to be using Two Discs according to various websites, Single Player on One Disc and Multiplayer on the other. PS3 version will be on One Disc.

The same thing happened with LA Noire. Turned out you didn't need all that requirements to max out the game.

I wonder what the requirements will be for the next-gen games? sigh.gif

Kind of like Battlefield 3 then?

I think the specs provided are just a range of what the the game is capable of running on and I doubt the high end of those are the "recommended" specs. I'd guess the recommended are somewhere in the middle of that range.

Still, the 35GB requirement just doesn't add up. For reference, the PC version of LA Noire, a gigantic game, takes up 13.5GB. R*'s got some 'splainin' to do.

And nearly 4 hours of video, excluding all the trailers? mercie_blink.gif Brix are being shat.

Awesome, one of those automatic grenade launchers(I don't know the name). I'm excited to see the explosions since we have only seen a few and for a brief second each. Im sure the way the euphoria engine makes the bodies react to them has been improved. Also I'm curious to see what it looks like when one of them get hit with a Molotov cocktail in slow motion, running around on fire and all. I don't think I would do many mercy kills.
