For the first time ever, Rockstar disappointed me. New cover art sucks big time.

Yeah I actually prefered this one:

 

 

Made Max look more badass. Also I would prefer if the background was a 50% Sao Paulo and 50% New York. I think that would be better in terms of sales among old school hardcore MP fans. Instead they added the hair.

MP3 to be R*'s biggest launch.

Thats interesting. When they start advertising on billboards and bus stops and on t.v. I bet views on Youtube will also rise, as well as preorders. I predict this game will be bigger than than what most people expect. It is right now an underdog in many peoples eyes(gamers) but if the early reviews are any indication it might be like RDR in the long run.

That's my feeling as well. I think the body movement and the shooting in the game is just going to feel right in a very unique and awesome way that'll give it a ton of replayability.

Well one thing in the gameplay vids that really captured my attention is how realistically Max reacts and adjusts for movement on the ground level. A visible step up from even what we were seeing with the RAGE engine in GTA IV for the first time, watching people walk up and down the streets. He really moves and aims in a way that makes sense to his placement in the environment, whether he's upright moving down stairs or prone, rolling across the floor. Seeing this type of interaction with the surroundings is going to make for a more convincing, compelling action game at the end of the day.

Thats a good point Meta187. They have been talking about how they want to make the whole game look, act, and feel cinematic. Like we are playing a movie. It is evolutionary and revolutionary in video games. I think.

Max Payne 3 is a next step in getting video games to be acknowledged as an "Art Form" in my honest opinion.  Video Games need to be recognized more as a culture and artistically rather than an entertaining experience nowadays.  It's no longer the days of 16-bit games.  Video Games have come along since then, and now earn more money than the film industry, and the making of films has been acknowledged as an art form...  so why should video games not be as well as films?

 

Sorry for going off topic there, what you two guys said above is what I feel too, I haven't quite seen body animation quite like we see in Max Payne 3.  You can tell when Max interacts with the environment it sort of brings that realistic presence, and you can literally feel it, it makes sense to players.

The Supreme Court of the States already views games as art. and I've personally done so since I played the first Mafia a decade ago. That was the first game I played that I felt had blurred the line between cinema and gameplay, a "lucid film" so to speak.

 

Anyways, I'm eager to see how this new entry to an old franchise turns out. I'll admit I was p butthurt when I first learned about the South American setting, but I've since been avoiding the majority of details and only glancing over a few screens here and there hoping that just maybe it'll catch me with my pants down on the crapper taking a big runny dump when it comes out. LA Noire was certainly a huge leap forward in the realm of "interactive cinema", so I'm feeling certain MP3 will reveal some cool new innovations as well.

But I'm a sucker for these vector covers. Mafia 1 also had an awesome cover with a similar style.

 

I'm buying a physical copy, so I'll probably end up making my own cover. It wouldn't be the first time.

This whole art style reminds me of 1950's oil paints, and Max looks like Ben-Hur. WTF?

Cover looks alright to me, would have been better without the girl as she looks out of place as someone mentioned. It's not really going to matter anyway because you'll be staring at you telly/monitor for 10-15 hours rather then a case cover.

 

Good choice to advertise during the Champions League final as i believe that's even over taken the Super Bowl in viewing figures. Also if the final goes between Barca and Madrid then those figures could potentially explode even more.
