Max Payne 3

[BUT THE BENZ]

hey there, maybe someone here can help me out with a stupid probem I ran into.

I installed Max Payne 3 recently for windows 10 (it is now callled the "complete edition" apparently), linked to my social club account, tied to the rockstar games launcher, all the shabangabang.

BUT, very unfortunately, it doesn't work - all I get is a BLACK SCREEN during the intro, no video, audio only. I've tried a few things, changing resolutions in the editor for example, but nada.

so sad, maybe someone here knows a 100 % fix for that!?

Have you tried right clicking the Max Payne 3 executable > Properties > Compatibility and ticking Disable Full Screen Optimisations?

Spider-Vice, do you think we will ever get a next gen port of MP 3, always found it weird how R* ported everything else besides MP3?

I remember looking through random textures years ago and finding one for a dvd case of Pink Panther. I'm guessing it was just an unused placeholder thing, but it made me laugh thinking Beyoncé is hidden in the depths of Max Payne 3's files.

Ha, yeah, there's a few real brands used as placeholders in textures, IIRC they used a Portugal Ford ad as placeholder in the airport.

I'm pretty sure you can use DS4 on PS3 as long as you have it plugged in via usb cable.

True, and you can also play it unplugged - you just have to register the device holding PS button + Share button for a couple of seconds, then go to Devices settings and pair it - but MP3 is one of the few games that don't work with a DS4

 

And DS3 is out of production and it's out of question I buy a second hand controller, plus third party joypads suck big time

My bad man! I thought it worked for every game. That sucks. Have you tried the PC version yet? I recently used my DS4 on there for the first time and it was amazing. I had no idea how much vibration added to the experience - all these years I had only used mouse and keyboard.

My PC barely runs GTA2... haha! It's an old netbook I use for basic stuff when I need it, and that's all

 

Considering to buy this Acer laptop I've seen in an electronics store tho, which is also pretty good for gaming, and would definitely play it on PC

Get a DS4 instead. The experience is much better with new updates. It doesn't work only a few games like Gran Turismo 6 and Dark Souls 2. I got mine long ago when the L2 and R2 buttons become loose and would press other random buttons when used.

Actually you don't need a very powerful PC to run Max Payne 3. Just a Core 2 Duo setup with atleast 2GB of Ram and the required hard disk space is more than enough.

I use a DS4 on my PS3, mostly to play RDR (which I'm currently actively playing) and GTAIV, among other games like MCLA and Dishonored, and yeah, it's way better! But it doesn't work with all the games sadly, plus it's not even fully compatible since the PS button doesn't do anything, no vibration or "SIXAXIS", et cetera... so I'm forced to use this budget DS3 I have to go back to the XMB menu

Sony/The PlayStation team could've worked this way better since the PS3 is still a very active console, but there's no way - and I've been looking everywhere - to get a functioning original PS3 controller - don't believe sellers 'cause even what looks original actually ain't

 

Sony joypads quality started getting sh*t with the PS3 Super Slim model. This is my second DS4 and it's already slightly drifting - the other one had very strong drift and Down D-Pad stopped working

 

Spent more on controllers than on games this generation since most of the games I got them either "for free" (PS Plus) or discounted, so yeah, not even joking...

Sony won't do it cause it's not profitable in terms of marketing PS4 or even the upcoming PS5. They want people buying the newer consoles. I've checked on unboxed and refurbished item websites and it's impossible to find an original controller. Still have my PS3 from 2013 with a defunct aftermarket controller. 

 

Slim Models were always gimmicks and the death of their actual models. My PS4 d-pad hasn't malfunctioned yet which is good so far. I bought most of my PS4 games, including RDR2 at discount/thift store websites or used. There are some really good websites here which sell those. Even got the RE2 remaster (new disc) for the price for a used cause it had an open seal.

max payne 3 is sadly not backwards compatible with xbox one nor series s/x

The gunplay was so good. I still boot up a solo match of Dead Men Walking in Hoboken Alleys (with the community fix of course) every now and then to get my fix.

I'm still sad and angry that this game turned out to be some weird-ass Brazilian experience. Where is my gloomy New York? I mean, that's why I loved this series so much!

Yeah, as much as I loved MP3, the New Jersey chapters were such a tease of what could have been.

 

I still think there's a better version of MP3 that Sam Lake was leading into with the comics he produced for Rockstar.

 

You have Anthony DeMarco set up as the mayor, also the head of the DeMarco crime family. Hoboken police are corrupt/on DeMarco's payroll. Max kills Tony DeMarco in Walton's Bar, causing a very large price to be put on his head. As we see in the game, this attracts the attention of the DeMarco crime family, as well as every other crook in the entire city. Most likely the attention of the police as well.

 

It was the perfect set up for a game that could have mirrored the first. Having Max on the run, with everyone in the city, including the crooked police, hot on his tail as he tries to escape New Jersey/New York. Hell, I'm sure they could have even fit Sam Lake's intended ending in somehow without him minding, maybe after Max makes one last stop to visit his wife and baby's grave.

I will defend the gunplay to death. Probably the best in any game that gen. The story gets criticized for being pointless; yet it's not less pointless than the sequel, and that gets praised, rightfully so. Multiplayer was fun when it launched, sadly over time it just became too brutal to play casually, as all that were left were the lifers who mastered the game.

ye they will prolly bring the new rockstar games launcher support to steam release of la norie and max payne 3 soon. (so it will be like with rdr2, gta v and iv where steam first must launch rgl and then the game)

I played MP3 multiplayer for a few rounds today!(PC/Steam) glad it had players! it was fun! wish it had more players! I hope they will release MP3 for new gen consoles + cross play for both consoles and PC!
