I borrowed a friends copy and gave it a whirl, If I had one complaint it's that the character movement could be more fluid/faster. Rockstar need to take a page from Naughty Dog because Max can be very mechanical and slow.

The reason he is more slow is because he has aged a lot since the last two games.

So after completing everything single player related in Max Payne 3, I've decided to head into multiplayer.

Payne Killer is easily my favorite mode, alongside Deathmatch. I kick ass in Payne Killer especially, but I got a message from some kid saying "spoted hacker". I seriously hope retards like these don't get acknowledged with any credibility from Rockstar.

hearing Passos shout "look out bro, they're coming at us" whilst holding out in the New Jersey chop shop just made my morning.

Gameplay benefits over cumbersome realistic crap thanks.

If they had stuck with the old guy properly I wouldn't of minded it so much but Max Payne is jumping about like a f*cking spring chicken. Your not going to get rid of that, so theres no point putting on this slow movement. I know its to try and get more immersed with the character but we have him jumping around so you might as well make him slick all round.

Lately I did allot of achievements and found most of the clues, but for some reason they are not refreshing the database on the social club, anyone else having this problem?

Yeah that's been f*cked up for me since pretty much day one. The block of clues and the golden gun images are all out of order and not syncing properly. Also the stats for the Score Attack and NYM mode aren't working either.

Just completed Old School mode, saved up all 9 of my pain killers thinking the last boss would be a bitch and i only ended up using 2. On to hardcore mode now which i'm expecting will be a bitch.

In addition to these, some of the single player grinds had higher requirements on Social Club. So, they showed as completed in the game, but not there.

After replaying it again, I've decided my most enjoyable part is, Panama. That part of the story was like the crossing point for Max, we've seen old New York Max in a couple of Chapters, but here, he's still New York Max, slowly becoming more aware and falling into the ways he is for the rest of the story.

Just one quick question though, is the Surgeon in Chapter 12 (you know the one) the same guy as the Plastic Surgeon shown at the party in Chapter 1? If so, then that's everyone accounted for.

Yup, that's Doctor Arthur Fisher. I only realized it in my third playthrough. Seriously, I had no idea most of those people were important until my second playthrough. When Passos said that Becker was just "some cop", I figured he was a background character. Its pretty cool that R* did that.

Yeah, it reminded me of Vice City "The Party", where most important people in the storyline were all at that party, noticed it myself on the second playthrough how I recognised most of the characters brought up with the exception of the Plastic Surgeon because you never really get a good look at the surgeon in Chapter 12 as his face is covered.

Do you guys have any tips how to suck less in multiplayer?

Yes, don't stay in one spot for too long, but at the same time don't just run into the open or you'll get sniped out.

Also, i agree with Ash_735, Panama was definitely my favorite chapter and it actually became my fav because of the music, i mean just listen to this:

Hmmm nice bike

I don't know about anyone else, but the music in the Panama chapter was giving me some Goldeneye N64 vibes when I was playing through it, or maybe Perfect Dark. To me, it just has that "Rare" sound to it. Awesome soundtrack either way.

  • stay close to better players and learn from them

  • map every free button on your mouse to melee

  • grab better weapons from corpses

  • only loot teammates

  • with single hand guns: dual-wield if possible

  • with 2-hand guns: shoot from the hip, only aim when it's safe to do so

  • Do not reload after every kill, reload when it's safe

  • use Bullet time as default burst, the other ones need some experience and map knowledge

  • keep moving after each kill

  • make a habit of turning around and double-back a bit

  • use the Paynekiller mode as training
But don't take my word for it. I'm rank 26 and would describe my skills as somewhere between crap, and total crap. cool.gif

Panama is definitely up there for one of my preferred chapters. The music had a great, nostalgic synth to it. The final part of the level you can duel wield a Desert Eagle and a Bull. What more needs to be said?

The soundtrack was perfect for that level. It really mirrored the paradise and the greed of the rich people and all the sinister things going on behind Max's back as he was trying to make some sense in the messed up situation. There is also something very Scarface about that track.

This soundtrack is also one of my favorites. At the end when the organ harvesting scandal is revealed and Victor Branco is found hanged in his cell.

"So I guees i'd become what they wanted me to be. A killer. Some rent a clown with a gun puts holes in other bad guys. Well, that's what they had paid for, so in the end that's what they got. Say what you want about Americans, but we understand capitalism. You buy yourself a product and you get what you paid for, and these chumps had paid for some angry gringo without the sensilbilities to know right from wrong. Here I was, about To execute this poor bastard like some dime store angel of death. and I realized they were correct... I wouldn't know right from wrong if one of them was helping the poor and the other was banging my sister"

-Max Payne In the End.

I agree.. that instrumental is epic!! It's like Scarface meets Miami Vice.. it just suits the mood so well. Rockstar (or their people) reallly know how to pick a piece of music.

+ never forget to use covers. They're there for a great reason, and surely they're the easiest way to kill someone and to get protect within less than 2 seconds.

Does anyone know how the grinds work after you go legend? I've been trying to spend time grinding the guns that aren't ranked up and am getting punished for it.

Is it like after you go legend and back to 0 you have to rank up the guns again but if you've completed the grind for a weapon (like 250 kills - tools of the trade -AK-47) then you don'[t have to do that again?

There is a serious lack of players online. I go into Deathmatch, sit and wait for eons until a random player joins, then I play him and kill him thrice and he disconnects. Where are the big matches? Do I need to play with a party?

Oh and if anyone wants to play with me in a party and is on PSN, hit me up: Neonic9.

Don't quote me on this because I'm not 100% sure, but I read somewhere that the Rare music team moved to Rockstar after the Microsoft buy out in the early 2000's. That, to me, is why most of the music in BULLY & even Red Dead Redemption (at some points) really have that old Rareware sound.

BULLY Example:

RDR Example:

These particular examples gave me old N64 vibes. Sadly, I have no real proof to back that rumor about the Rare music team & Rockstar so take this with a grain of salt. I'd really like to believe that it's true.

Your question is pretty mixed up, but grinds don't reset once you Legend. A mixed blessing, as some will be closer to higher rewards, but others won't be available again. The only other things that don't reset are avatars, titles, and one of the perks (that gives you bonus cash).

Everything else goes back to basics, including weapon ranks.
