Got some free time and finished it myself, already seen it mentioned here, yeah, that bastard LMG guard on Chapter 12 eh!?

 

Overall, it's hard to say really, it's not quite a full Max Payne game, I mean, it's nearly there, and certain chapters are bang on, especially towards the end, and especially Chapter 13! Chapter 14 I was reminded more of Die Hard 2, which, considering the already made John McClane comparisons just made me smile. There was a missed opportunity to have the nightmares back, I pointed at least two points in the story where Max is asleep for a long time which could have easily thrown in a dream sequence as a throwback to the classic games.

Max Payne 3 will surely compete for the GOTY. I know it's your opinion, and I'm just giving you mine, but I'd suggest to get MP3 instead of waiting for a Spider-Man game that probably won't get nowhere near a Batman: Arkham City, for example.

Just ordered this on Amazon, the linear game play made me weary but I got suckered in by about a half a dozen different positive video reviews insisting that there was immense single player replay value. Are you kidding me ? Max Payne 1 and 2 may have been super dark with there content but they were full of humor.

 

Rockstar tried to mock the style, but it wasn't anywhere neat as funny. I knew they weren't being entirely serious but they weren't funny either.

The MPK's good but not great. Kind of an all-rounder. It's better than the saf .40 I'd say.

I think the thing is with all guns you've got to stick with them and rank em up. I got the Mini 30 up to rank 9 (anyone know what the top? 10?) but I've gone back to the AK-47 to try and rank that up -- and now I'm getting killed again sometimes where I'd suvive encounters.

 

The MPK sometimes doesn't have the range to be a winner in Nova Esperanca but it's good for Hoboken.

I bought the Saf. 40 because it had better ratings than the MPK in all areas except for range although its still good for small maps like Branco Headquarters because of it's almost unmatched rate of fire. To answer your question yes 10 is the max rank for weapons I know this because I've gotten both the Mini 30 and the AK47 up to level and they'll go no further.

 

On a side note single handed weapons seem to rank up a lot slower than 2 handed weapons. Its actually quite a chore to rank them up for accessories.

The best advice anyone can give is to get the game and be your own judge. I went on a rant a few pages back about what I don't like, but that's just my take on it. Other old schoolers think it's great. So rather than bothering to determine if one side is blinded by nostalgia or if the other side is blinded by Rockstar fanboyism, it's best to give the game a go yourself uninfluenced.
