I appreciate R* for their damn funny saying in GTA4.

Sometimes I fall off my chair by hearing these funny quotes.

I appreciate R* too for the great shader models.

Sure it has issues but damn, it's a massive and complicated game, issues are to be expected. I'm so sick of all the negitivity towards Rockstar about this game. I'd be suprised if they actually do read these threads with the amount of crap they get. But just incase they do, a very big thank you from me for so many things about this game! ....except for making it so hard to mod! bad bad bad! mad.gif haha

Keep it up. Very happy. Some of us actualy pay attention to the detail you guys put into all of the GTA series games. Always could be better but you do great work. icon14.gif

Ya know what - I feel exactly the same way. How do they do it? Every time I play a new GTA it's an entirely new layer of goodness and perhaps this time multiple layers. There's just soooooo much in there I can't believe the thing runs at all. But seriously.... biggrin.gif

 

I'm quite thankful to R* for, yet again - outdoing themselves. And ya - it could be better, but that's what the next GTA is for, right?

Thanks to R* Toronto for the most horrible coded/ported game ever.

And not to forget, the MP protection.

And sending to C++ or ASI authors for the requests not to make the ASI plugins

compatible for MP.

That proves the horrible job.

Just an example of a whiner.

 

Sure, there are faults, just like ANY game out there.

Yet, you always seem to bash on a game, however great it is.

 

Instead of BASHING R*, why don't you try and develop a game that incorporates said changes?

Or even incorporate said "griefs"?

Oh, WAIT! You're not a programmer? That's too bad.

 

Live with what they provide or make something better... if not, just keep your mouth closed.

And yes,those "griefs" were valid i think.Countering with the "you're not a developer" argument is a very lame attempt you know.At least i think so.Yes,he may not be a developer,but the people who made GTAIV ARE developers,who are PAYED to do their jobs.And if i were their boss,well,i would be pissed off about this piss poor job they've done with the game.

 

People are whiners for saying the truth?At least they are not blind fanboys who let everything slide,so their "AWSM" game won't be bashed on in public.I love GTAIV.I have every game that came out for the PC.But they've always done horrible porting,be it RockStar North,or be it RockStar Toronto.As i said,i love the game!But it was a broken port at the beginning.It is shaping up,but we still need a few things that will complete the gaming experience.Like no cheaters in MP matches,and OMG a few things are still missing from the game.It's almost half a year since the game is out and basic things are missing.

 

But yeah,i'm not a developer.I don't know what influenced development.How much time they have gotten to make the game,how much money,how many developers were in the team,did they get a poorly coded engine?

 

All i know is that both the last-gen engine,RenderWare and the new R.A.G.E. engine was ported/coded badly.And seeing how bad the frame rate was on the consoles,i'll just stick with the "R* can't optimize for s***" thank you.

I don't see R* Toronto as the bad apple in the bunch. Look at the facts

 

* they are some third party programmers group that is working on some project

* they do what they're told and are payed for it

* they don't make any decisions

* they have shown nice support for the PC. Three patches (even though the first two were useless) is nothing to laugh at

* they had to work with the code as it was, as R* North made it

 

Now, I'm not sure where the blame for all this disarray lies, but I'm pretty sure R* Toronto is not to be blamed. They are only a group of programmers that had a very daunting task on their hands. It was up to R* North or Hosers or T2 or whoever to allocate enough human resources on the task. As it needed not to be completed within some set time frame nor did they deem the pertaining platform to be that important (tsk, tsk, a 7 month shabby console port with practically zero marketing effort can't generate a lot of revenue; go figure) so we have what we have.

 

The fact R* North made the first GTA's on PC counts for nothing in my eyes, especially when you consider the future treatment we are bound to get. Consoles first, PC second.

While I agree Rockstar Toronto is not the culprit for GTA IV being nothing more than another console-to-PC port, I have to defend Rockstar North in saying that the Housers, although pretending to be "key people" at Rockstar North, are mostly representing Rockstar Games' HQ in New York. DMA Design (founded decades ago) has only been part of Rockstar Games (founded 1998) since 1999. They (North) are just doing what is told by the head-cocks in New York...of which the Houser sisters just happen to be a big part of.
