I've had a little trouble with it (GFWL nightmare) but this game is so worth it, staggering to see such a large and very beautiful city simulation never mind the hugely immersive game and story set inside the city

Well, heres the stuff that I admire the most in IV:

• The nice atmosphere during the day(especially during sunrises and sunsets)

• The Euphoria engine and the realistic car damage(the games physics in general)

• A lot of random stuff happening on the streets of Liberty City

• A huge city

• The game looks fine even on medium/low settings(please dont flame the sh*t outta me)

• The new police system

* For making pedestrians look different from each other...no twins or more look alike pedestrians like there where in Vice City and SA.

Well if i drive trough the city all my people look the same. Nice red covered body tounge.gif

Thank you, Rockstar! I don't think I fully appreciated how special and "classic" GTA III or Vice City was until GTA IV was released! You gave us nearly indestructible tanks, an apache helicopter (Vice City), unlimited ammo, no motion blur (or much reduced), no girlfriends/friends to take out, no emails to reply to, lots of fun side missions with cool rewards/cars...

...and thanks for allowing us to wash our cars and giving cops the ability to crouch in GTA IV. $100M well spent. Keep up the great work! icon14.gif

Thank you for Lazlow!

I would love to see a gta spin off about lazlow that puts his side story together

or the final gta to be lazlow as the planet's mob boss. his story is long.

Thank you for Fernando Martinez.

Thank you for keeping humor in the game.

thank you for making the sand box a lil bit bigger

Thank you for bringing almost all gta games to pc (would like cities though)

Thank you for swimming and bikes.

thank you for the 100s of Hours of game play

Thank you for the 1000s of hours of modding and learning.

Thanks for making a game that this forum is about so we can all chat.

Oh yeah..

Um

Thank you for GTACLANS.COM :-P

Hello,

Rockstar's continued support surprises me day in and day out. After the fiasco with GTA-SA and the Hot Coffee Mod, I did not expect this game to make it's way to Windows. I was shocked once again.

Rockstar, not only provided a good game, but it is a live world wit plenty of thing to do. Here's a run-down

Over 200 cars

1000 of miles and areas to explore

lots of songs and radio stations, not to mention Independence FM

Pedestrians all look different.

Watching Television in game. This was awesome when I first saw this.

and many more....

I applaud Rockstar for taking time to support its work to Windows. This game as month, if not years of gameplay as in any of their recently published work. Also note that with torrent sites continuing to crack this release, I am even shocked that they still support this title. Great work Rockstar. I will support many titles in the future.

Both Euphoria and Rage Engine has potential to provide realistic movement and great rendering.

I would say that save for the pc compatibility problems, GTA 4 has really been fantastic! Gameplay, realism (taxi rides, mobile phones, ped interactivity),game physics, etc... They really set the standard for today's pc/console games, and getting 10/10 in game reviews is an understatement...

And the latest patch for the game was a real life-saver... Not only did R* prevented changes (and cheats) in mp gameplay, but it FINALLY stopped my game from crashing... colgate.gif

So a GREAT THANK YOU for everyone in R* who has made this game a real success! icon14.gif

edit: ...and also continuing the GTA franchise even after huge media controversies and lawsuits against them (hot coffee mod, etc.). sigh.gif

The "Hot Coofee Mod" was available on PS2 too,a bit later.Simple tweaks and cheats can do it.If R* included "hidden" sex scenes in GTAIV(All versions...their all the same anyway...ports)both the PC and PS3 version could have been unlocked. At least i think so.

NikoCarlTommyFidoJohnson was surprised that Rockstar released GTA IV to PC, and not that there wasn’t some sort of hidden sex-game… he didn’t think that there would be a hidden sex-mini-game in GTA IV; he just thought that GTA IV would never be released for Windows because of Hot Coffee.

I was a little surprised myself… Rockstar didn’t release any new PC games (after Hot Coffee was discovered) until Bully, which was released for PC on Oct. 20, 2008; that was 3 years, 4 months, and 13 days after the release of San Andreas v1.0, which was the last of Rockstar's PC releases prior to then (excluding the subsequent releases of v2.0 & v.3.0).

I didn’t think they would ever release PC games ever again.

My point with that was that the PS2 version contained the mini games too,and they were unlocked like in the PC version.Did RockStar continued to make games for the PS2?This wasn't about the sex scandal, this was about money.Imagine if the mod originated on the PS2 version and a bit later the PC version.Do you think RockStar would have just abandoned the PS2 back then? No.They just had enough income from their console games to abandon the PC market for a while. They made more money this way.Pointing at the PC version doesn't make the "sex scenes" disappear from the PS version.

Rule No.1: Never release an unfinished game. Well didnt R* f*ck up pretty bad there. They deserve all the complaints, bad reputation and poor sales they get. Maybe next time they wont be so stupid.

I'd personally like to thank Rockstar for GTA IV, Sure it has a few bugs but nothing compared to games like Empire: Total War.

Also the VERY much under appreciated Bully.

Thanks for a great game.

I've been playing SP a lot, but I've been playing MP every day for a few months. And when the last patch came out all of a sudden the game was unplayable for me.

Thank you Rockstar for having someone here to walk me through fixing it so I can play MP again!!!! I'm so addicted to this game

I have to point out that in order to balance this thread it is necessary to realistically point out that all the fixes Rockstar have done to this point have been things that should have been with the retail release. In fact, my SLI is still slower than non-SLI.

I rate Grand Theft Auto IV as an ok game and addition to the series. Had it have been properly developed with the PC platform in mind, it could've been much, much better, but in this business money talks, and console manufacturers fork...good game developers up the ass.

When you take into consideration the true potential which lies with these types of games on today's PC technology, and you remember the constant backseat the PC platform takes with Rockstar, and the delays we have to endure while our fellow PC gamers cave and become slaves to the console market, you too will realize that Rockstar deserve absolutely no appreciation from PC gamers (especially long-time ones).

In conclusion, I'd like to thank the following entities for my experiences with Grand Theft Auto IV:

- My money (and me for earning it) so that I can purchase the PC and the game

- My Intel Core 2 Duo E6420 for standing up quite well in times of pressure

- My Gigabyte 320MB 8800GTS for rendering the parts of the game that it was asked to render (until the patches, this usually didn't include what you'd expect SHOULD be visible on the screen)

- My 24" LCD for obvious reasons

- My keyboard and mouse for allowing the game to be played the way it was meant to be played

Got to agree with the sentiment.

I honestly believe it is the best game I have ever played by some margin, and the programmers deserve a big thumbs up.

It was buggy before the patches, but the only people who deserve a kicking for this are those who pushed for it to be released too early before it was properly completed (probably marketing and/or finance), to try and cash in at Christmas.

Before patch 1.03 I finished the game like 5 times and 2 of them were 100%, was playing on AMD dual core, about 2 weeks ago I stop playing because I was getting angry with the slow FPS when raining, last week I upgraded to Intel quad and man, the game is beautifull...

I'm starting all over again, I never get tired of it.

So many things to discover, so many funny conversations on the streets. Best game ever I played.

Oh, and one important note and a BIG THANK YOU to rahkstar2.gif

GTA III, VC and SA only had 1 patch (I think that III and VC didn't even had one, this one has 3 now, meaning and showing that they DO care about PC gaming and they still want their game to run as better as possible.

well they finally patched this sh*t to a playable level. i guess i can go buy it now that i know ill be playing it with more than 18fps on a good computer in a modest resolution like 1280x1024.

so i guess Good job R* you finally fixed the game to a playable state. too bad it took 4 months after the release date.

and to all you idiots on this forum telling people they should go buy a new computer to play this game. eat all the dicks. not some of the dicks, but all the dicks. you'll come to a point where you're sick of eating dicks, but take that as a sign that you are about 1 molecule in on the tip of the iceberg that is the dicks you will be eating. keep eating.

same computer that was getting 18fps with everything low in 800x600, is now getting 46fps with everything maxed out in 1280x1024. didnt have to buy a gtx285 with 1.7 gigs of ram to max it out Ron1-2-buckle my shoe, i didnt need to buy a new monitor chngdman, didnt need to get a quad core thales. all it took was them to fix their sh*tty port.
