Rockstar Toronto Posted March 23, 2009 Share Posted March 23, 2009 If gtaencoder.exe is running at the time you will not be able to remove it or replace it. Rockstar Toronto Posted March 23, 2009 Share Posted March 23, 2009 The game must be launched through RGSC "PLAY" button, and you must use the original "LaunchGTAIV.exe" that came with the game. If these conditions are not met you will see the EFC20 Error. OK but.. in a Momo Steering wheel support post (on this forum) one of the Rockstar employee said to target GTAIV.exe and create a profile targetting this exe and launch it from the profiler,but when i do,it crash with the EFC20 error?! here is the thread about it http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=394430 You should be able to target the exe, then run the game through RGSC. With the 3rd patch the problem seems to reappear. Sigh... Can you read? The game must be launched through RGSC "PLAY" button, and you must use the original "LaunchGTAIV.exe" that came with the game. If these conditions are not met you will see the EFC20 Error. yeah last time I checked, but perhaps I should pose the question to you... I didn't have to start the game from the RGSC "PLAY" button so why should I start now. For your information, I have tried starting the game through RGSC but I still get the same error message. The patch is meant to fix problems not cause them or have I missed something? Do me a favor, please follow the discussion before making any stupid comments! The game has always required you to run by pressing "PLAY" in RGSC. If you had another way to launch the game that is probably what is causing your issue now. I simply run the game through the original "LaunchGTAIV.exe". I have tried starting the game through RGSC but I still get the same error message. I downgraded to patch 2 and it works just fine... I'm still trying to figure out how I can play Crysis, smoothly and on DECENT graphics but can't even get this game to work without lag (all settings on low). Have russian licence, downloaded russian patch and after installing it and trying to launch with RGSC it simply checking the disk and then do nothing at all...not even displaying any mistake screen. But now we get the info from R*, that altering in this will cause the below mentioned error which I´m also getting now: EFC20 - Invalid resource detected - Please re-install the game SO how I´m I supposed to implement a menstrict now? Please don´t flame poor me... I'm not sure how you were launching the game before, but the method for using commandlines is unchanged. The easiest way to do it is to create a .txt file in notepad called "commandline" Inside the txt file you can add "-memrestrict XXXXXXX" and when you press the "PLAY" button in RGSC it will read this file. You cannot launch the game with GTAIV.exe without getting an EFC20. You can Launch it with "LaunchGTAIV.exe" but ONLY if you are signed into RGSC. All the files are original, reinstalled game for 3 times, for the last time applied only second patch.
