Otter
I see it's located on the C drive. Do you have another drive you can write the files to? Vista may have reconfigured your paging files, so if you're writing the video file to your system drive, it could be leading to choppy video. That's the standard fraps codec, so you look all good on that front.
archey
so i move it to say my desktop?
Otter
No, you'll have to go into the Fraps settings and tell it to write the file to a different drive. This won't work if you only have one (the C: drive) or if you set it to the desktop (because that's also your system drive). What version of Fraps are you using? From what I've read recently, older versions don't work too well with Vista.

Otter
Hmmmmmmm... you could try writing to your USB drive, but odds are it'll be too slow. I'm sorry fella, I'm running out of help at this point. Have you tried recording any other games? Maybe something a lot older? (just diagnosing)

Tornado Rex
Try it with a non-steam based game. Go grab GTA 2 (http://www.rockstargames.com/classics/) or something and try with that. ~ Proud Supporter of the Child's Play Charity! | GTANET + Child's Play ~

leik oh em jeez!
So you didn't have steam on your other computer? Did you exit steam when you tried it with other games?
archey
no i mean steam is affecting it with vista, for some reason other game i record are fine..
leik oh em jeez!
Steam affecting Vista, or Vista affecting Steam?
archey
probably steam affecting vista
leik oh em jeez!
But if steam works fine on the other computer, and everything else works under vista, then it would be vista affecting steam. Either way, it's the combination that's not working, meaning both are to blame.

Fozzy Fozborne
1: Don't double or triple post 2: DON'T WRITE IN ALL CAPS, YOU LOOK LIKE AN IDIOT AND PEOPLE IGNORE YOU 3: Treat people like you would like to be treated 4: Don't assume people (who are trying to help you under their own volition) are idiots, you're asking them for help! 5: You've tried every type of gameplay recording software including Fraps, Gamecam, etc? Why don't you try contacting Steam about your problems, just remember to be nice to them because the delete button is only one all-caps sentence away.
