MadWorld
The patch works fine for me. I haven't noticed any differences, but then again I only played it for about 5 minutes just to see if I would get any errors. One thing I noticed that I didn't like. You can map the keyboard and mouse but not the controller. Why not? I haven't read all of theses post on the new patch yet, there is like 38 pages, so if I missed anything forgive me. truehighroller
I will say this, I have noticed that they break something when it is fine or they fix something that was broke only to bring it back again in another patch. Seems to me like they can't really get a handle on this patching thing. They fix one thing for one group of people then, reverse it to the other group of people that they screwed up to begin with and let them play for a month... . Seriously though, I see this pattern. Perfect example here, they had my controller fixed with the first patch and then they came out with patch 2 and broke it again. See what I am saying here people? sallino
Vsync do lower FPS! inside the bilding i get ~200FPS becouse when you are inside the building game works only on textures inside the building (with Vsync ~150FPS) outside the building 80~100 FPS becouse game wors with treas, cars, streets and all kind of other textures, shadows, reflections (with Vsync 50~70 FPS sometimes eaven ~20 FPS xD) And you think that someone believe you? It's impossible to get that framerate with a dual core, and the vsynch limit the framerate to 60 if you have a monitor at 60 hz. So you cannot have 150 fps in the buildings with or without the vsynch and in the outside you can't have 80-100 fps... Stop saying bullsh*ts and use fraps to see fps and not your eyes... Bullitt75
R* THANK YOU sooooo much for the anti-cheat features in this patch. Lets just hope it lasts ... cheaters/modders, call em what you like, totally ruined this game before. Now, I have just thoroughly ENJOYED a whole day of online play ... something that was totally impossible before the patch. Again ... make sure you keep it updated
Shadowqiller
This patch has made the pop-in / texture load problem A HECK of a lot better, but the only problem is now I can't play the game for more than few minutes without it completely LOCKING UP and FREEZING! With the second patch, my game ran fine on medium textures, but had lots slow object and texture loading. No lock ups. The game was pretty ugly , but it ran great. With this new patch on the same medium settings, my game now looks much better (barely any slow loading), but only runs for a short time before it gets slow ,then freezes with black screen for a couple seconds, then continues normally for another 5 seconds or so then screen goes completely black , and so on until it completely freezes up and I have to CTRL+ALT+DEL and End Task. I tried the -memrestrict commandline and that only allowed me to play for a little bit longer without freezing. Also the game now freezes almost every time I'm at the loading screen on missions. Never finishes loading. This sucks , any ideas anyone, Rockstar Toronto? Also you posted earlier about the ingame computers not working, theres my evidence. Stop posting here, or buy the game. This patch is great yet the bench mark still shows 48fps although in game I get around 55~60 I hope the next patch will add a 100% true bench mark. If he didnt revoke it, it might be the issue. Greido
fixed my alt-tab crashing, gave me a big fps improvement, and lets me shut off the shadows. i love this patch. amd x2 3800+ @ 2.4ghz, 2gig ram, radeon 3850 512mb (this is s939 agp). winxp 32bit. 1024x768 60hz, med texture and med texture quality, low water, reflections off and shadows off. everything else is as low as it can go. vsync on, definition on. 255\495mb resource usage. game was basically unplayable for me before this patch. it was too slow. very playable now. some slow downs right before my phone rings and when going into gun shop. over all, awesome patch. Right, not being able to use the computers is a glitch. Please. What does the CD Key have to do with the ingame computers? Wtf. He said the Authenticator or whatever says its invalid. Think you get it if you dont Revoke the CD Key from the game or whatever. And wtf is about the 'ingame computer so called glitch' ? Oh and explain, how can you play on Live without the retail copy? PLease explain! As were all pirates to you, are we not? Guess direct2drive are pirates aswell, they sell digital copies that no longer work with 1.0.3.0! Atleast not for me. Think its the same kinda thing for mirrors edge 'De-authorize this machine' in the Games Explorer when you right click it, and Revoke License on GTA IV.. X-Fi XtremeGamer Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3 Well I seem to have fixed the game freezing problem. I just finished playing about 20 mins of single player and 1 hour and 30 mins of multiplayer, without a crash. More play testing will be done tomorrow. I'm not sure what exactly fixed it , but I switch video card drivers again, this time to Catalyst 9.1. I didn't install CCC this time. I had to lower my texture detail to Low and use the -memrestrict 188743680 in the commandline.txt I also have -windowed in there as it seems to help with stability and if it does happen to crash you can CTRL+ALT+DEL and End GTAIV.exe easily, without being force to hit your power button. BTW even on low texture settings the game looks WAAY better than patch #2 did , simply because everything is now being loaded MUCH quicker I can see all the objects and there seems to be a lot more detail ,despite of having it on low texture detail. It's just a shame that I can't put my 1 GB of DDR5 video memory to use. I noticed there is about 3 or 4 more posts on this thread with the 4870 cards having this problem. Maybe this will help at least get the game running. Good Luck! and Great job on the patch Rockstar! .. your getting closer to the perfect patch ! gingermenace
YAY no more glitchy laggy shadows, I LOVE YOU ROCKSTAR!!!! shame i cant load asi files anymore, and i had to re-install coz i modded it to the teeth, but well worth it coz my FPS doesn't drop as soon as i leave the safehouse to 15 fps, instead its 26!?!?!?!?!?!?!??!??!?!??! <33333333 thank you thank you thank you thank you. i noticed something a while back whilst flying around, which is that the whole fricken map is constantly being rendered, no cutoff distance or fog, could this also contribute to the fact supercomputers are bought to their knees with GTAIV whilst games like COD5WAW and Crysis run smoother than a babies behind? i upgraded my old machine just to play GTAIV, granted i went kinda cheap on it but still, the recommended specs are really the minimum, whilst the specs needed to max GTAIV out currently isnt even supported by the game (multi GPU, Physx euphoria patch would make a difference) im a great fan since the first birds eye view games, i modded san andreas loads, and used to run a drift clan for samp, on samp i play all maxed out, and with ENB series, also maxed out, and get 45-60FPS. i have to run GTAIV on low everything, for 60 FPS inside, now 17-26, sometimes 33 in secluded areas. all the time, theres still lag like, blank frames almost. all in all you're on the right path, i just thought i'd give feedback on your efforts

I had just a single 4870 1GB card running this game and am on Windows 7 Ultimate and have, 9.3 CCC installed and do not have these issues you speak of. Maybe it is time to wipe the old install out. I noticed that when I switched my Video driver to 9.3 from the Windows 7 9.2 CCC Driver that my sh*t was f*cked up.. I reinstalled the game and wiped out my old key of course, and my sh*t has been perfect ever since. I now have my second 4870 1GB plugged back in ( I had to get more power to run the second one) and everything again is stable for me. I have a 9450 @ 3.8GHZ and 4GB DDR2 @ 1156MHZ. Raid 0 Drive made up of 2 x 320GB RE3 WD drives. I think you should try some things like what I mentioned if you haven't yet.
mkey82
OK, I gave the patch a try. Reinstalled the game, applied new drivers on the Win7. * at first, I get like 15FPS more in closed spaces (before it was about 70, now it's 85). I was like "sh*t!", but then I moved my mouse and evidenced loads of sluttering. As you moved around, it lessens, but it's there and rather painful to watch. * I get out (the park east or whatever safehouse) - some 50FPs at same settings like before. Medium textures, 30 draw, 50 detail distance, everything else on high. Shadows on 0. * I get in the car and FPS doesn't seem to drop, but there is moar sluttering. I start to drive real fast towards the Times square and the FPS doesn't drop, it even hits 60. I look around with the cam and things look stable. Then I pull one fast 180° turn and start to drive in opposite direction - what? .... fps goes back to where you would expect it to be, low 30es. * finally, I hit the benchmark key, drive around for about ten minutes, keep in central area of the second island, cause fuss with the cops - final result was 38FPS. All in all, it seem like GTA IV would *like* to run better, but something is holding it back. I'll reinstall windows later this week and try everything afresh - no securom, xlive nor any other bullsh1t. EDIT: I tried using the availablevidmem switch with a moderate 1.4 multi, but the game was literally unplayable. It would stall for a second or two on about every turn. ME :asd: This patch is a completely fail for me. I've lost many fps in all the zones of the game, in one zone I've lost 20 fps and with low settings is the same: At the begin I earn a lot of fps after some seconds everything become like before.... Mah And the stuttering....................... I don't want to talk about that. The memrestrict command doesn't work. I won't play this game until the next patch. I can't sustain these crap performance with my system... I have the requirements and I WANT to play this game well. It would at least make sense if you bound Right Mouse Button to the SPRINT function, as in other titles like Assassin's Creed. I can't, however, think of any PC game released in the past 3 years that utilized the Right Mouse Button as a movement key. Also, I'm disappointed to learn that this new patch won't work with the Ultimate Blur Tweak.
