flicko
As for ones I still want to see, Nixon mentioned Jurassic Park, Mike mentioned Alien, but we're still missing Aliens, Terminator and a lot more. Personally, I'd like to see some golden oldies, like Psycho, Jason & The Argonauts, Bedknobs and Broomsticks and the likes. Will make for a very diverse, and extremely challenging (In terms of making the votes) competition. Not that voting won't be difficult as it is at the moment. Aye, I'd like to see some good old fashioned Ray Harryhausen films on the list such as 7th Voyage of Sinbad (my favourite of his works), One Million Years B.C (which has basically no dialogue in it at all) and of course the magnificent Jason and The Argonuats as you've already said. All childhood films for me and awesome memories. Someone has to nominate Jurassic Park though. The plot, the characters, the effect and of course the dinosaurs! For such a blockbuster of a movie it is pretty damn underrated.
pizza guy
I nominate Total Recall Because: As a film it's brilliantly violent and over the top. Also it has brilliant actors such as Arnie and Michael Ironside. For me this film was the highlight of Arnie's film career before Terminator 2. It's got classic lines and has a brilliant storyline. "Get Your Ass To Mars!"
Nikofan112
Nomination:Saving Private Ryan Reason:This movie has to be one of the best of the last century. It is very well acted, with the likes of Tom Hanks leading the way. From the visceral beach landing, to final battle in Rommel, it is one of the best war movies ever made. Don Garcia aka NjNakedSnake
If you haven't seen this movie, shame on you. I nominate: The Midnight Express Because: It truly is one of the greatest prison films ever made. Based on the book of the same title, depicted the real life arrest of Billy Hayes in Turkey for attempting to smuggle hashish back to the US. Despite the film deviating from the actual book to the point where Billy Hayes himself criticized it, it is still deservingly memorable. Sad, raw, wonderfully acted/directed, and as dramatic a movie as you could want. The relationship between Billy and his girlfriend, and Billy and his father are great pillars for the mesmerizing tale of Billy trying to stay alive in a hellish environment. Brad Davis acts his ass off in this movie, giving one of my favorite performances in a movie. Not to mention great turns by Mr. John Hurt himself, and Randy Quaid to boot. Plus, Billy bites a scumbag's tongue out. Which didn't actually happen, but was still great.
papanesta
Ha ha, I have to admit, I quite wanted to see Total Recall in this. It's f*cking awesome entertainment. "Baby, you make me wish I had three hands!" Also, Saving Private Ryan was a must. Ugh, I still can't decide what my ultimate favourite is. I'm torn between many I love; Serenity, Sunshine, Sin City, Blade, Slumdog, etc.
Creed Bratton
Ha ha, I have to admit, I quite wanted to see Total Recall in this. Arnold and Michael Ironside! makeshyft
@makeshyft, would you really veto any of the films posted so far? No no, I was just asking in advance in case it should arise. I'm pretty impressed right now, actually.
WidowMaker
I nominate: Crash Because: Interesting sociology study, dealing with issues of racial stereotypes and moral codes. For such a large cast, the acting is great and each character arc is complete and fleshed out. It's fascinating to see how everyone seems to interact with each other in some way, and how one person can have such a large impact on someone's life. Huge emotional battles and a great plot that is designed piece-by-piece by the many three-dimensional characters. Definitely, if everyone was super racist in real life, all the f*cking time, for no reason, then this did indeed deal with it aptly. I prefer the one with car crash sex. The characters felt more real. I nominate Apocalypse Now. Thanks for saving it for me. I'll write up a 200 word essay on why Apocalypse Now is the greatest movie of all time when I have a spare minute. Seriously... ...even though I don't need to explain why. The Killa
No one? I hate you all. I nominate: Let the Right One In Because: Not only is it one of the best movies of 2008 (yeah, I liked it even more than TDK), but it is one of the greatest movies ever in my opinion. Everything about it was so great. The production, the acting, cinematography, soundtrack was all done almost to perfection and as a result you have a movie that surpasses any expectations you may have and more. It is, quite simply, a masterpiece that shouldn't be missed. Edited March 22, 2009 by The Killa
Mand'alor
We've hit the 40 mark, I reckon nominations could be over by this time tomorrow night? Or are you going to have sh*t load of nominations and then weed out the inferior ones? There's still a lot of quality films to be nominated. Jurassic Park, The Big Lebowski, Indiana Jones and Aliens anyone? Edited March 22, 2009 by Nixon

It won't be included unless you edit your post though, Killa. Aye, I'm expecting it to come to my local cinema as part of it's Foreign Film Night very soon. I intend on being there to see it unlike the time I was to hungover to go see City Of Men, which brings me to my next point. Why hasn't City of God been nominated yet? DeeperRed
Since Pulp Fiction is already there I nominate :This Is England Because: Its a Beautiful film that gets to ever emotion. It also reaches into the gang mentality and the influence of older peers. Horribley underviewed and underrated. The actor for his first role in a film plays brilliently and you never feel like he drops out of chracter as with the rest of the cast Edited March 22, 2009 by DeeperRed

Calidrugs
I can't believe this movie hasn't been posted for nomination, anyways.. I nominate: Training Day Because: First off, Denzel Washington is such a brilliant actor. Can play many roles and performs his finest character in this amazing film. The take starts as a securtiy guard, Jake Hoyt (Hawke) applies for a LAPD postion as a Narcotics officer, but must be trained for 24 hours by a veteran Narcotics officer, Alonzo (Washington), in order to be accepted. Unfortunately for him, Alonzo's methods of enforcing the law are questionable, if not corrupt. Jake faces many twists and turns throughout the movie. It also sets in the streets of Los Angeles, a well known location for dirty business. If you're interested, is the link to a great acting role of Denzel in Training Day. *I know i pretty much just posted a summary of the film and not why it's good, but i tried. outcest
sh*t, I didn't miss the cut did I? I nominate: There Will Be Blood Because: Danny Day-Lewis' best performance of his career. Fantastic array of supporting characters. Interesting plot that gets progressively darker, mirroring Daniel Plainview's own consumption by his greed and bitterness. Perfect accompanying soundtrack. Excellent cinematography. The dialogue is careful and deliberate, and at times even haunting (think the scene by the fire where an inebriated Plainview reveals the motivations behind his quest for wealth and power). Mav.
No offence enny, but I would so love to veto your nomination. But I know I'm in an extremely small minority and would never get the support . I hated the film. Great acting, sh*tty film. But that just my opinion.
3niX
Well... Layer Cake and no Snatch? That can be fixed... Nominate: Snatch Because: A well-written and pulling story with excellent black humor. Plus, its got the awesomeness of Vinnie Jones in it for gods sake! Not to mention the superb soundtrack...
Seddo
I'll be a bit different and nominate a golden oldy . I nominate: Jason and the Argonauts Because: Well, first off i didn't get to see this until the early 90's and at that time i was in school and loved all the Greek mythology stuff and as this was full of it, so the movie was off to a good start for me. One thing that can just make this film awesome was the bronze giant Talos, when Hercules and Hylas go into that gold chamber and you can just hear all these squeaking, rusting noises and you just see Talos start moving and then finally chasing them. At the time the special effects for this movie were awesome, with Talos as mentioned and the skeletons coming up from the ground and a few others. Overall awesome adventure, Greek Mythology and all sorts of obstacles hunting for the fleece.
