Keep in mind this is not referring to ABC, NBC, CBS- or any local news program, this is just Fox News, CNN, and MSNBC.

Anyway-

I have to say my pick is CNN, I have seen it lean Liberal and conservative, but normally it is pretty unbiased, and Wolf Blitzer and Anderson Cooper are very unbiased when reporting the news- can't say the same for Campbell Brown, she is a total liberal and she has a show called " Campbell Brown, No Bias, No Bull " which baffles me tounge.gif

They're all biased (the election definitely highlighted this) but I'd say FOX is the most unbiased of the three. They seem to do the least Obama ass kissing. That said though, they're still biased.

Sorry, but I would be an idiot to say that none of these are biased. All of them are very biased. And I am not talking about liberal vs republican wingnut here, I am talking fact vs. fiction.

I really try not to cave to the popular mob opinion, but seriously no. Aside from the sheer volume of pundits they have, all of them are conservative pundits. They don't even have that pansy Alan Colmes anymore.

Rupert Murdoch came close to admitting it, I'm fairly certain he knows what he's done.

As mentioned in a previous thread they're all biased, to what extreme depends on your perspective and your political views. I'd be left but I try to remain centre (I don't like picking a side as they both have dumb-ass ideas and policies).

I can say that, in my opinion, Fox tries to remain unbiased but tends to fail. I watch it more than CNN, in fact I'm watching it now, because I find it entertaining. Some of the stuff they come out with is ridiculous, particularly on O'Reilly (which I'm watching now) but that comes with the style of Fox. It's a more relaxed style of reporting where anchors discuss and throw around comments and opinions and as the anchors tend to be on the right side of the political spectrum that comes through in the reporting.

I rarely watch CNN, generally just when I'm away from home, and from what I've seen it, like Fox, tends to try to stay unbiased but, like Fox, selectively chooses its stories. Where Fox attacks Obama for his policies CNN praise him.

I also don't like Fox's tendency to get 2-3 right-wingers for every 1 lefty they interview, it does my head in actually.

Can't comment on MSNBC as I never watch it.

Of coarse they are all biased- I meant least.

And if you can say fox is the most unbiased.. have another look.

Every single one of their programs has a conservative host- Huckabee, Hannity, Glenn Beck, O'Reilly Factor, Geraldo at Large.. all conservatives- MSNBC same thing, Maddow, Olberman, Matthews.. etc.

Colmes was a moderate, he even admitted to USA today the following " I am actually quite moderate "

The hannity and colmes show favored Hannity, Colmes would never provide a good arguement to what Hannity said, and a lot of " I agree, or " You're right " was the dialogue from Colmes to Hannity.

CNN is sorta liberal, I would say centrist leaning left slightly.. they do have Lou Dobbs who is quite conservative.

CNN is the most unbiased and ass covering news network out there. They may have left in them, but they get many right wings in there as well. Not only that, but they have an African American Woman as a reporter, talk about no holes to complain about in cheap attacks!

They're all garbage, imo. As an American myself, I can't stand any of it.

For the past few years I've been steadily watching less than 2 or 3 hours of TV a week, if that. If I do watch TV news, it's my local state (Oklahoma) news. Not much bias involved when you're reporting on things like car crashes, school snow days, fire-fighters rescuing kittens out of trees, college 'football', whites', Natives', blacks', Chicanos', Asians' respective health problems from eating too much McDonald's, fry bread, soul food, tortillas and rice, or a Mayor caught sucking off an under-age caddy at a local, posh golf course. tounge.gif ...Yeah, they do delve a bit into politics, but it's loads better than any national news; none of the glamourised bs etc.

I get nearly all of my news from the internet (too many sources to list) - much better, that way. icon14.gif

Well yeah, local news is unbiased- but this thread is about the top 3 cable news channels.

MSNBC is the most unbiased news channel for me. Why? They rarely show their affection for Bush and the Republicans, while CNN and Fox Crime News blatantly squandered their affection for their favorites, and their disgust over their hated ones.tounge.gif

MSNBC programs dedicated to news, yeah.

If you look at their primetime lineup, it is all liberals.

The important thing to consider, in my opinion, is if the news coverage is biased, i.e. favors certain viewpoints and ignores stories that don't fit that bias. Opinion shows and pundits is a different matter.

As I don't watch much U.S. TV I didn't vote in the poll. I can say, however, that Swedish television has been ridiculously biased in favor of Obama and is traditionally ignoring any argument that any Republican brings up. I'd say Obama probably got around 80% of the coverage on Swedish television as compared to McCain's 20%.

My look at this topic is "Which channel has the most centrists or ideologically-even panel ?" which I answered CNN. You can not look at Fox or MSNBC and not see conservatives and liberals, respectively, everywhere. CNN is good because their mains anchors are Anderson Cooper (centrist), Wolf Blitzer (awesomely named centrist), Cambell Brown (liberal, I think) and Lou Dobbs (conservative).

It's obvious she's a liberal, I hate how her shows name is Campbell Brown: No Bias, No Bull.. it should be called just " Campbell Brown " or " The Brown Cronicle " or some bullsh*t- not No Bias, No Bull.

They're all biased in favor of the interests of corporations, political parties, the Pentagon, and others reactionary elements. I voted CNN, but it is only infinitesimally better than the others. CNN even had army psyops personnel working alongside regular employees. This is a well-trodden and pointless debate imo.

As much as I've tried to drill it into people's heads, I still don't understand how people can't understand the difference between a show like Hannity or Anderson Cooper, and a news program.

They might try to but they don't. From my perspective they are biased, from yours they are not. Why? Because I generally side on the democratic side, you the republican.

CNN and MSNBC take news programming and inject bias into it.  FOX News presents opinion based programming as such, and their News portion is mostly unbiased.
I disagree.

You probably haven't given it a fair chance, you probably just listen to people on here who sit around saying, "fox neus sux. its bias."

Actually I watch Fox News most mornings, in fact (as mentioned before) I watch it more than CNN, and more than my own country's news.

I mean, for Christ's sake, Hannity even gives the other side a chance to talk.
Imagine that, actually giving both sides a fair chance to speak mercie_blink.gif. There is still bias, ultimately the host has the last "word", Even a shrug as to say "I think that's a load of BS" can show bias, and influence the viewers. The only unbiased news is the one where nobody has an opinion or a chance to throw in their 2 cents. They just read it from a sheet that has facts and ONLY facts, no suggestive wording etc.

Of course as long as there are humans reporting the news there will be bias, hence the question as to which is the most unbiased, which, in my opinion, is not Fox.

That's not enough. You'd also have to make sure that the selection process for which news items actually make it into the broadcast and which angles these news items are reported from are free from bias. A problem occurs when the person or persons making such decisions is biased and may or may not even be aware of it. The only way that I know of to combat bias in news coverage is to have a wide range of political views represented in the news room, and that no particular viewpoint is dominant, to make sure that people are made aware of possible bias in their work through a peer review process and that such biased work is corrected.

Yeah but it's an opinionated network, it's not like they're trying to pass it as unbiased news.

Fixed.

They're all bias. They just are. How bias depends on what you consider to be bias (if you disagree you'll probably consider more biased than someone who agrees).

Anderson Cooper is not like Hannity. Coopers show is news, not opinion like Hannity's is.

The only CNN opinion shows are Campbell Brown and Lou Dobbs. Fox has Shep Smith, Hannity, O'Reilly, Huckabee, Glenn Beck.. and what do you know? They are all right wingers.

EDIT:

Forgot to mention the other night I was bored and was watching FNC and I saw this show called " Beltway Boys " on around 1 or 2 am.. and it was pretty cool , debate between a liberal and a conservative.. and it wasn't a fox news liberal either, it was a real liberal.

Giving fox props for that show.. that's it though.

Cooper is as biased as Hannity. He just does a better job hiding his opinion behind spun or outright fabricated "facts" to set up his narrative. E.G., it seems like he does an hour long gun control infomercial special at least once a year where he parrots laughable Brady Campaign talking points as gospel.

Hannity isn't biased.. his show is about the opinion of him, Sean Hannity... his show isn't about reporting the news.

Anderson Cooper 360 has no bias whatsoever, I have watched that show for years and if anything the only liberal bias is his efforts at global warming... also remember the guy is Gloria Vanderbilts son, who if you are not aware is a member of one of the most wealthy families in the country... which doesn't make me think he is a fiscal leftist at all.. Cooper probably has a 25 million dollar sallary and apparently his family is worth 100 billion +..

Shep Smith is basically a conservative commentator..

What about Bill O'Reilly?

Again, O'reilly's show is about the opinion of Bill O'Reilly... It's not a news program.

The fact that he is a right winger and the entire fox lineup is right wingers, just further proves their conservative bias.
