BiGUKG
I installed this game fine, only to find I get the DD3D50 Error so my graphics card can't handle it!!! Mega bummer!!! So I went to un-install the game, and it won't un-install. I started off not wanting to install it, but now it wont, I want its 14.9GB waste of space gone for ever!!! I know this error can be fixed using compatibility mode, although when I un-install from the control panel and cant find a normal uninstall file in the game folder I get a little bit lost...... Any help chaps? Edited March 13, 2009 by BiGUKG

jonny30001
Try updating your operating system to the latest released service pack. Windows XP needs at least updated to SP# and Windows Vista needs at least SP!. Had the same issue with Vista and updated it and it worked! Good luck! copperwire93
Use Windows Install Clean Up(google this) to clean GTA IV installation from your registry, shift+delete GTA IV folder, then use good registry cleaner to clean and fix your registry. If you able to register serial key for GFWL, don't use this method as you need to revoke license. Edited March 15, 2009 by copperwire93
dub09
Still won't uninstall yep... there is no file to uninstall GTA IV from the game directory the file is located in Program Files\InstallShield Installation Information\...\ "InstallShield Installation Information" is a hidden directory the exact way you can find in registry: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\ or HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\ search for a keyword "rockstar" or "grand" then check the found hive if there is "Grand Theft Auto IV" and go to UninstallString there will be the path of the exe-file that we were looking for (it's called setup.exe) now you can browse to that path and set the compability mode of setup.exe

But it's safer, and a lot faster than your suggestion.
BiGUKG
Whats the problem with revoking the license? So tempted to just do it anyway!
copperwire93
If you install this game successfully, then you sign up for GFWL and enter your license key so you can play on internet. When you want to uninstall, you need to revoke license or you got key exceeded warning and can't play online anymore.
mkey82
you need to revoke license or you got key exceeded warning and can't play online anymore. Generally, GTA IV doesn't have the activation number limit. That is, if you bought an international release. Only Steam and some (which? everybody's guess) localized retail releases have five (or so) activations limit.
m0neyfl0w
Hello everyone, I wanted to uninstall GTA IV but I got the same error as you did. And when I follow dub09 steps and find the location of the setup.exe folder from HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\ in the UninstallString. Before I start setup.exe I had to change the compatibility mode (right-click -> Properties -> Compatibility ) to Windows XP SP3. But I faced big problem the compatibility mode menu was locked on VISTA and i could not change it. After I google the problem here is the solution: open regedit. (Run->regedit) go to -> HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\AppCompatFlags\Layers there should be a string value pointing to the setup.exe file look for it. when you got it right click and choose modify In value srting i got : VISTARTM (doenst matter what you have there ) just change it to: WINXPSP3 after doing this i was able to start setup.exe and remove the game. If you need better explanation just msg me i will be glad to help. Take care guys. Cheers
