Do you want to freeze time?

That could be done, easily.

Do you want everyone else to stop as well?

That, I dunno if it's possible.

Cannot be done using native commands that's for sure, there is simply no native command that will let you do this.

So it's either going to be memory editing, or apparantly there is a command in the actual excecutable that might do this, but I have no idea how to invoke that using the C++ scripthook.

Djalbastyle your going to have to be a bit more specific as to what you want. "Stop the time" is pretty ambiguous.

Do you want to stop the clock, but have "time" pass at the normal rate, or do you want to stop time in the physics sense, like pausing a movie?

I think he want to say that: if it's 9:26, it stop the time at that, and if the weather is sunny, it stay like that, but you can normally move and all that stuff's

So can someone post the method to stopping time?

I know there's a program/mod involved, no big deal.

I've tried a few tools but they can only SET the time to a certain value... Not lock it.

I think a simple solution would be to set the time over and over again to the same value. I'm new to GTA IV scripting (but not to programming at all), but what I've seen so far, there is some kind of tick() method, right? (.Net Script Hook) Setting the time in every tick() could work.

Although it's not the best solution and I think it's not very efficient and could affect the game performance.

Can't be done with natives, at least not with a native I know.

I tried this with SetTimescale(0.0F); but the game didn't freeze, it was just very very slowly. I think there's a built-in minimum time sad.gif

Sorry for the double post, but needed to bump this topic.

I've made a quick plugin/script/whatever.

Should be used with GTA v.1.0.2.0, and .Net scripthook 0.86.

download link:

http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?jmkjzmqnmz2

Press T to lock the current time.

Press T to unlock the time again.

Can't try it myself ATM, someone wanna try it out? wink.gif

It seems to work fine. The only thing I noticed is that when you un-freeze time, it changes to what time it would have been had you not froze it in the first place. That's not necessarily a bad thing, it's just there. Otherwise, good work!

I created a script like this, and I even set the correct time when unfreezing to take into account the side-effect The0 points out.

Unfortunately, you will discover on your own that this functionality is pretty useless. confused.gif The only time you really need to freeze time is when you have an hour to go pick up a friend or girlfriend, but an internal timer is being used because the friend/girlfriend will still berate you for being late. suicidal.gif

It's useful for people wanting to make machinema who don't want drastic time differences in their shots. That's what I wanted it for, anyways. Other than that, yeah, it isn't the most useful thing, but it is cool if you like playing only during the day/night for whatever reason.

Hi I'm looking for a mod like that as well. Since I'm bad at English, I really want a mod to pause the game so that I can get time to figure out and understand what they are saying by looking into the subtitles. :barf:

Does it stop everyone from moving? Does it keep the subtitles there?

nice but can you make a mod that pause the game without pulling out the pause menu so that when I pause it I can still see the game screen and the subtitles?

i think it can be done with "foreach" for peds and cars and then freeze them and then freeze the time and weather. SIMPLE!

That wouldn't work with freezing subtitles.

That is the best thing that can be done. If you found a native that gets the subtitule on the screen then freezing subtitule is possible

That is the best thing that can be done.

But he clearly said that what he wants this mod to do is freeze the subtitles/current mission. No point in the mod if it can't do that.

Also, when freezing the subtitles, you would need to freeze the current mission too.
