So why are you comparing games from other genre to the other ones. compare COD and Half Life with Halo Series..../ Oh what a hypocrite. You don't want others to compare GTA IV with FPS games and yet you proudly announce that GTAIV is the best ever game of all time. Have you played the original Doom and Quake? It can barely run at 6-9 fps, falling down to 4-5 at times. If Rockstar could have properly coded gta iv to run appropriately on my card, then it would be the best game ever. IMO and this is probably gonna get people bitching at me but ive read so many posts on this forum about how console games/gamers are ruining the industry i actually believe its the other way round and inadvertedly the pc gamers are the ones doing this (this isnt a dig at pc gamers make sure you read everything before you comment). I believe that because pc gamers are always updating there system and always buy the top of the range stuff for it that any game that gets released the graphics are already outdated on the pc gamers machine and then what do they do when they see this, come on forums and complain about it which puts pressure on developers because they dont want the gaming community moaning about there game so they do everything they can to make sure the graphics are sublime which is going to affect the gameplay because they can't put at much time into that, and then what do they do when they get a game that actually strains there machines, come on forums and moan about how crap the game actually is and the prime example of this is crysis, visually stunning ive never seen anything like it but the gameplay,utter pants its a very very average game at best and thats being generous (although this is my oppinion i know im not the only one that thinks this though) oh and btw disagree with me all you want but you must have seen it by now never once was there a 'this game looks crap on my 1080p tv (although GTAIV360 doesnt actually play at 1080P no matter what the box says, in fact theres only about 3 games out on the 360 that actually do play in 1080p) when it was a console exclusive unless it was by the pc community Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I am an "old school" gamer even going back as far as DOS games. Now those DOS games may not have had the "wow" factor that todays games have as far as graphics, but there are other things such as GAMEPLAY and STORYLINE that make them great! It seems that too many PC gamers only want a game that will test their systems limits. But I want a GAME THAT IS ACTUALLY WORTH PLAYING! Not just a "pretty lookjng game!" This game GTA IV for PC was good in storyline and graphics, but a lot of PC games are not. Though I would HARDLY call this the greatest game of all time....that would be stupid in my opinion. Yeah its less linear than many, but that's not saying much. You know what held my greatest single player game of all time title before GTA IV? KOTOR. Now there was a fun RPG. You have got to be trolling. No-one in their right mind would criticise Fallout 3 for being linear, and offer-up KotOR as an alternative! Are you nuts? Both KotOR I and II are about as linear as you can get. I enjoyed both games immensely, but please, lose the rose-tinted glasses. Also, when criticising a game, at least get the genre correct. Anyway, in my defense, those trees with jagged edges look very fugly, so I try not to concentrate on them too much. As I said before, imo, games aren't fun beacause of non-linearity necessarily, they just simply are fun. Perhaps the criteria is freedom. KOTOR gave me freedom to become an evil sith lord. GTA IV the fredom to become a criminal for hire, plus sandbox, plus multiplayer. Fallout 3? There was no story really, just a sandbox, but the sanbox was all the same, with grey sand . Also, when criticising a game, at least get the genre correct. Fallout 3 - hack 'n' slash? Puhlease. It really is a hack and slash! Oh and you also get to save the world... I still haven't completed it and i've had it since release, i just got bored with it. For me i find the Half-Life series the greatest game of all time. It doesn't do any one thing perfectly, but it's got awesome bits of almost everything; shooting, driving/racing, action/adventure gameplay, linear freedom to make the game experience what you want it. You get out what you put in, use your imagination, get creative; both during the storyline missions and after when you've got the whole sandbox to play with. And it's so graphic and crude. But it's also current and timely for pop culture with hilarious, spot-on social commentary all tuned to an outstanding soundtrack. The backdrop being a vibrant and recognizable New York that is, as a single city in a game, simply massive just begging to be explored. What better way to relax than to fire up GTA after a sh*tty day at work and go on a shooting rampage in the middle of Times Square? Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
