Yep the keyboard and mouse is serious business and it is for real men, especially when you consider the PC demographic is vastly more mature than the console demograhic. I would never dispute for a second that a joypad is an excellent choice for beat em up's or cutesy wutesy platform games. However it seems virtually impossible to get a console gamer to admit the mouse and keyboard beats the hell out of a joypad in any aiming/shooting games. As for driving I would say it could go either way, from what I have seen on the net it is actually keyboard owners that are in the top 10 on ranked races not joypad users.

 

 

Hmm, I guess you got me there. All I can say is I've never had any problems such as that and I'm sure that over the apparent decades in which you've used a PC, I'm sure you've encountered a few technical issues yourself.

If I did get those problems which you quoted, I'd just play on my 360 instead anyway.

I guess you don't want me to regale you tales of the 360 firmware updates bricking 360 consoles as well then ? or how about game patches on the 360 that brick the console !!!!!!!!!!!!!! yep that's right a f*cking game patch can kill your console. Never in the history of PC gaming has a game patch EVER posed any danger to the PC. Seriously you are trying to say to me that it is more inconvenient to patch and update the PC ? well I say to you at least I can do it without fearing the patch/update will render my machine DEAD.

 

 

I've said before that I like the PC version over the console version. To be honest I don't usually make a big deal out of as you do, because it will just annoy console owners. So just because I didn't comment again and again about the PC version being the far more superior version doesn't mean I hate the game or don't own it.

Well firstly you should remember this is the PC section so you can crow and say how good the PC version is, that is why this section exists. The console users have many sections for themselves and you will very rarely see me in them (the main gta 4 forum is specifically for console users). You may see the odd comment from me carrying out my ledby duties but that is it.

Well like I said before, shooting is far more easier and overall better with a mouse since it's just point and click. As for the driving, I personally find it much better to use a game pad, as there's far more control with toggles.

Just the other day,a Playstation 3 owner on GameSpot said that Killzone 2 killed his PS3.

The game is resource intensive just like GTAIV.The PS3 may be working harder.More heat is prodcued.Poor ventilation.The game dips into the low 20's and even lags....

I have no problem accepting the fact that 360 and PS3 both have hardware flaws. Maybe I would make more of a big deal out of it if my consoles actually DID have these said problems. Same applies to PC's, I'm sure there's a fair share of drivers/updates that can completely f*ck up things or even damage hardware.

I've never had these problems, maybe you haven't either, but you can't say that it's impossible for similar issues to occur with PC's as do with consoles in terms of updates and crashes.

 

I find it quite funny how you people are criticizing consoles for their technical issues, but when you take into account the amount of people whom have issues running GTA IV for the PC, in comparison to those who play it on a console, I'd say there's a pretty significant difference there... and you CANNOT deny that.

I have never come across a driver update on the PC that ever trashed a PC and made it completely non-functional that it had to be sent back to the manufacturer for repair. The very nature of a driver update means it would be next to impossible for it to do such a thing at worse a driver may cause a BSOD which can easily be rectified by uninstalling the driver and reinstalling the old driver.

 

Now the updates for your beloved consoles are a totally different kettle of fish, there is no going back once you are committed to updating the firmware that is it. You can't say "hm this firmware is a bit screwy I will go back to the old one", you are stuck with it. There is also NOTHING you can do to prevent the firmware from bricking your console, it is basically russian roulette when you do it. It is most likely your console won't get "bricked" with a firmware update but the odds are not encouraging.

 

Every single time there is a new firmware out for either the PS3 or 360 I can guarantee the next day there will be hundreds of horror stories about how peoples consoles no longer work after the firmware. Now last time I checked when Nvidia or ATI release a driver you never see hundreds of PC owners going "my PC doesn't work anymore because a driver bricked my PC".

 

I find it funny how you seem hell bent on defending these plastic toys and carry on trolling in this forum, but there you go. I don't doubt for one second a console is easier to use, it is mainly designed for 5 year olds so yeah it is easy to use. Yet these so called "next generation" consoles have almost as many headaches as the PC now, you have patches and constant updates. I mean christ you even have to contend with having to upgrade your damn hard drive on the PS3 now. The fact you won't accept that consoles have just as many problems as you perceive the PC to have shows what a fanboy troll you are.

And connecting a game pad is usually just a pain in the ass to configure. Just my opinion though. Oh no, here it comes!

Plus there is often problems configuring certain buttons to have multiple functions.

 

And on the note of the keyboard/mouse configuration; one of the major problems with games like San Andreas were the controls, most notably for aircraft. Piloting a helicopter with a keyboard was f*cking impossible with that game.

 

In any case, the PC fans who've been making a big deal about their superiority, and constantly bashing the consoles are making them selves look ridiculous, and honestly, no one cares about your computer's stats. People who post their system stats on their signatures are irritating everyone, and just mirrors your ignorant comments.

 

I'd rather just play games, and not configure my graphics card to the newest requirement every six months just to run the latest game on "epic high quality", meanwhile spending another $800+ just to meet the recommended requirements.

 

 

This is why consoles are more popular than PC's for gaming.

I agree with you in some points, but 800$ to meet recommended sys req's. Are you kidding me!. 800$ can get you a entry level gaming pc. A upgrade at the most would be a new vid card or cpu which is usually < 600$. And it lasts much longer than a next game release. Look how long the 8800GT stood the test of time (fantastic card).

 

And sigs may be annoying, but they are 2 things, 1. Info, 2. Bragging. lol. But serious seeing peoples sigs is useful for when they say they have a problem you know their specs instead of having to ask them. Its like a passport in the computer world. And AMD or Intel is your country.

 

Also PC makes sense for me, I do 3D and stuff. I can't do that on a console, and if I could it would run worst than war amp using butter blocks as legs on a hot summer day (sorry if that offended anyone).

 

Serious PC may cost way more, but your getting way more.

 

*PS, GTAIV may be poorly made compaired to what it could be, but I ran it playable in medium in a ok res on a 8600M GT! ffs. A 8600M GT!!! So don't complain when your pre-made futureshop computer can't run games, do your research. You can buy PCs blind like you can when you shop for consoles.

You know there are differences between these mentioned platforms.(duh)But you know what's the biggest one?If you have a PC you can actually do something about these things.Like Charlie said,you are stuck with the firmware on the consoles,but you can uninstall drivers if you want,and install older versions.Your card is overheating?You can buy a fan for it.Customizable,is the keyword.With consoles you just have to pray and wait for the inevitable.

You really need an education in technology, look there is a very fundamental reason why updates on consoles have a high likelihood of bricking. It is to do with the way the console holds the OS, both the 360 and PS3 store the operating system on EPROM's so when you update the operating system you are flashing the firmware to the EPROM's. Now if something goes wrong during that process and the flashing is unsuccessful then you are left with a DEAD console.

 

A driver update downloads to a hard drive gets installed to the hard drive and if it f*cks your system up it can be removed from the hard drive. I really don't understand why you are labouring this point, I have never seen an instance where a graphics driver has EVER bricked a PC. At the very worst a driver update can cause a BSOD if a driver causes a BSOD you just boot into safe mode and remove the offending driver.

The ps3 and xbox 360 have high manufacturing costs. That's why the games cost more this generation. It probably also caused Microsoft and Sony to get cheap about some of the parts, causing more bricks.

That said, console gaming is still likely cheaper, but not by much anymore. This generation of consoles is the first time that I haven't owned one. I've had a current gen console since the NES days and a PC to game with since 1996.

No.My point was that if a driver,if by any case starts to cause problems,i can get rid of it.I CAN DO SOMETHING AGAINST IT.

 

There was this driver(i don't know the number right now,maybe later i'll remember)once i installed and rebooted my fan went crazy.It was on 30% according to EVGA Precision but it was so loud it could have been on 50-60%,anyway,uninstalled the driver,switched back to an old one.Can you do that with a console?If an update starts to bug your Xbox or PS3 can you take steps to protect it from bricking?

Yeah but guess what evilrex you can DO something about viruses, you can easily prevent your PC from getting a virus with a few simple things. A console bricking because a firmware update is totally out of your hands, it may happen it may not but there is absolutely sweet f*ck all you can do to prevent it from happening.

 

You have still yet to show any proof that the PC has "dangerous updates" like I have already said 200 times if an update has unforeseen unwelcome effects then you can remove the update. Now with a console it's a different kettle of fish you update your console or game and it f*cks your console well guess what you are SCREWED. You can't remove the update or revert back to the way things were before the update.
