Mafioso86 3 Posted March 6, 2009 Here's a cool way of playing GTAIV and TLAD that I thought of. You will need two seperate save files. First start a game as Niko, then at the approprite time in the story (I think right after the Uncle Vlad mission is the perfect time) start a TLAD game. Then play through the various missions and switch back and forth. Now this can be tricky as they intersect a bit... but based on all the events in both games as well as the radio/internet news reports in TLAD I came up with this order that keeps things more or less chronological. In the following list the TLAD missions are listed in red. Pretty sure everything is in an order that works in regards to when the missions open up, but if there are any mistakes just let me know. The Cousins Bellic It's Your Call Three's a Crowd Bleed Out First Date Easy Fare Bull in a China Shop Hung Out to Dry Clean Getaway Ivan the Not So Terrible Jamaican Heat Uncle Vlad Clean and Serene Angels in America Concrete Jungle Crime and Punishment Do You Have Protection? Final Destination No Love Lost It’s War Shadow Logging On Rigged to Blow The Master and the Molotov Russian Revolution Roman's Sorrow Liberty City Choppers Action/Reaction Bad Cop Drop Escuela of the Streets Street Sweeper Search and Delete Easy as Can Be Out of the Closet No. 1 Luck of the Irish Buyer’s Market Blow Your Cover Politics Coming Down Off Route This sh*t’s Cursed Deconstruction for Beginners The Puerto Rican Connection The Snow Storm Call and Collect Final Interview Hit the Pipe Heavy Toll Marta Full of Grace Shifting Weight Have a Heart Ruff Rider Undress to Kill End of Chapter Bad Standing Roman’s Holiday Photo Shoot Wrong is Right The Holland Play Hostile Negotiation Portrait of a Killer Dust Off Paper Trail Holland Nights Lure Harboring a Grudge Waste Not Want Knots Three Leaf Clover A Long Way to Fall Diamonds in the Rough Taking in the Trash Meltdown Museum Piece Collector’s Item Was it Worth it? And he also says he is going to see Faustin's Daughter over on Firefly Island so that would indicate that it is just before "No Love Lost". * It's War: The story describing the Arson Attacks on the Appartment and Cab Office appears on the Net after this Mission. * This sh*t's Cursed: Happens roughly about the same time as the second part of Final Interview because the story of Goldberg's Murder is on the internet when checked after this Mission. * Heavy Toll: The Coke used for the deal that Leads to "The Snow Storm" is Stolen during this mission then stashed in preparation for the deal which would likely take a day or so to set up. * Marta Full of Grace: I estimate that while Johnny is gone to the airport, Niko comes in to Elizabeta's Apartment to begin the Mission Have a heart. The reason for this is at the start of Marta Full Of Grace, Elizabeta is on edge and is drinking and snorting cocaine in both scenes, possibly to deal with the stress of the cops being onto her after The Snow Storm. This then leads her to Kill Manny and his cameraman in a paranoid rage. * Shifting Weight: I estimate this happens after Have A Heart because Elizabeta seems a lot calmer than before. It also seems logical that she would send Johnny and Malc to sell the last bit of coke to get it out of the house before the cops come to arrest her and also to make themselves some money from it as a way of saying thank you for helping her out. After the mission she calls Johnny and tells him to stay away from her, likely because she doesn't want the cops to link him to her and get taken down. * Roman's Holiday: This is a precursor for the Mission "Hostile Negotiation" but we know it happens around about the same time as Photo Shoot because Mallorie Calls Niko to say that Roman is missing shortly after Niko completes this mission (Photo Shoot). She then calls back a while later (several in-game hours) and confirms that he has been kidnapped which automaticly starts Hostile Negotiation. - There are also several Missions (without * symbols beside them) that could take place anytime between two set missions i.e. they need to be completed before moving on. For these missions I just placed them in in the middle of a group of Niko missions in order to break up the list as I could see no other way of doing it. The rest of the missions I think are self explanitory. Edited May 22, 2013 by Money Over Bullshit
Mafioso86 3 Posted March 6, 2009 Nice work man, I was going to do the exact same thing but I`m just too lazy. BTW Gracies pink Felzer is on the driveway during a mission and I can`t remember which one, Aaaargh. Also there`s skid marks from the peel-out at the beginning of the car chase in the "Payback" mission. They`re outside the diner. Not checked that out tho, I read it on a IV references thread. I would have done "Get Lost" just before "Pest Control" because of what Stubbsy says in the cutscene, put a mish between "Blood Brothers" and "Undertaker". "Shadow" before "Final Destination". I`m gonna stop now and post my own version in a bit. First off... I'm I the only one that doesn't understand what any of this has to do with hannah montana??? Anyways as far as Stubbs talking about Ray getting taken out he says within a month... so I don't really see any need to move "Get Lost" closer to "Pest Control," but there's no reason you couldn't wait until right before "Pest Control" to do "Get Lost" if that's what you wanted to do. As far as between "Blood Brothers" and "Undertaker" My feeling is that they always take place a while later in the story when I play IV... after I feel like all of Johnny's events occur. Ofcourse depending on how you play they could occur more in the middle of IV. The other thing though is that I did my best not to have just one random Johnny mission in between Niko missions... I tried to put a few Johnny missions where possible. In regards to "Shadow" and "Final Destination," I just listed the missions (for the most part) in the order that they were on gta4.net's missions list. One thing I did change was when Niko kills Goldberg and when Elizabeta is arrested; according to their list these occur in reverse order of TLAD (where you hear the story of Niko killing Goldberg on Weasel News long before Elizabeta gets taken down). But for these two missions ("Shadow" and "Final Destination") I don't see any conflict of timeline if you reverse them, and I believe they are both open at the same time. Money Over Bullshit 662 Posted March 6, 2009 (edited) The Hannah Montana reference is in the Title "Best of both worlds" Hannah montana aka Miley Cyrus has a Tour called Best Of Both Worlds and also a cd of the same name. The name derives from how she performs songs as Hannah montana and as herself (Miley Cyrus) performing hits such as "See You Again" among others. I really know too much about this don't I haha Talk about starting off on the wrong foot And to Gamesguru: No I don't think he does. Because going by the sequence of events the jailbreak happens before he even goes in. Edited March 6, 2009 by Money Over Bullshit

Guanxi 0 Posted March 20, 2009 I've just started playing both GTA IV and TLAD in parallel and after a lot of thinking I finally believe I've come up with the best possible way of pacing the stories while taking into account all the prerequisites listed in the guides and I thought i'd share this for anybody interested in playing GTA IV/TLAD in this way: The Cousins Bellic It's Your Call Three's a Crowd Clean and Serene First Date Bleed Out Easy Fare Angels In America Jamaican Heat Concrete Jungle Shadow Liberty City Choppers Bull In a China Shop Hung Out to Dry Clean Getaway Ivan the Not So Terrible Uncle Vlad Bad Cop Drop Crime and Punishment Do You Have Protection? Duxfever 32 Posted March 20, 2009 So which one is more plausible?
Money Over Bullshit 662 Posted March 20, 2009 (edited) I think Gaunxi's list is pretty plausable seeing as though the missions are spread out more and there are no major gaps in Johnny missions. I think that biggest difference was that I went on if you play all of each person's missions one after another. The only thing I think that's wrong though is that Gerry's second mission set should take place closer to the end i.e after Phil Bell's missions and Jimmy Peg's first set. I would really have to play TLAD again though to make a proper judgement. EDIT: I've updated my list Edited March 23, 2009 by Money Over Bullshit
Magic_Al 830 Posted March 20, 2009 To really nail it down someone would have to play through with obsessive attention to dialog and make a point of checking all the radio and internet news after every mission, and make sure every chronological event is noted before proceeding with the next mission. Taking notes and making lists would be necessary to make sure it all adds up without contradiction.
Money Over Bullshit 662 Posted March 21, 2009 Here's Something I noticed. At the end of "It's War" Billy tells the guys about Jason then when you do the Liberty City Choppers mission you hear about it on the radio (Well I did) yet when you do It's war and check The Liberty Tree directly after it they've already broken the story about the Apartment and cab depot going on fire. This would suggest that either the radio lets you know about Jason before Billy does or that The Liberty Tree reports the arson attack before it happens. The only other explaination is that Niko starts and finishes working for Mikhail Faustin all in the one day which I think is not only very unlikely but Impossible. The real-time experience of gameplay can't be logically reconciled with the time-lapse game clock so it's tricky to say when things happen and impossible to say how long they "really" take. There's only before and after. TLAD is shorter than IV so several Niko events must happen for every Johnny event. If any TLAD missions got cancelled during development, some of the intersection points could have got screwed up.

You make a good point but I think what this guy is trying to do is just make a general sequence of events in order to be able to play the game in the order it was intended to be with both stories mixed together. Most of the spots in the list for the missions are easy enough to determine by checking the internet regularly. The only problem is establishing when TLAD actually starts i think because that determines the placing for all the other missions.
Money Over Bullshit 662 Posted March 26, 2009 Sorry for the double post but I've updated my list and I'm pretty sure that now its the most accurate it can be. I have also included explainations on why certain missions happen when they do. I went through the whole of The Lost and Damned checking the internet after every mission and listening to the radio as well as looking carefully at the cutscenes So I'm Pretty Confident about it. Perhaps Mafioso86 could put it on the first page of this topic so that people see it as the definitive list when they go into this topic rather than going through all the posts. If so that would be great
