..as I said.. I don't have one. I didn't see the point after a few hours worth of reading other posts. The conclusion I came to was it's pointless going to MS for help after reading all of this mess. I'd rather deal with Rockstar in the hopes they can correct the issue, which apparently was the general consensus from my searching. (Contact the devs that is)

That could be a solution... (The thing about "The Club") but... I'm sure that they eventually will give you a new key... they have to.

I have a friend who went over the same thing... with "Fallout 3" and after a few phone calls recieved a new key the same day, but they asked him for a number on the Game Manual and another one that was written on the DVD itself...

 

Also, if you reformat again... with "The Club" you will have a few backup activations... smile.gif

 

That was on the support line of Games for Windows here in my country (Spain).

I actually just found my cd key for The Club that I got back when Sega was handing out keys, works like a charm. Suppose this will do for now. I might pick up another copy, they are $4.70 on amazon, and I can see myself needing atleast 1 or 2 extra keys for future games. I also own Fallout 3, Lost Planet and Dawn of War II so I will more than likely need them eventually.

 

I've tried the US support number off the Games for Windows site but it's actually the XBOX Live site, and after two tries of getting nowhere I gave up on that.

Even if you found a solution, don't give up asking for your key... we don't have to keep buying other games or buying them again only for the stupid key...

That is not a final solution for this kind of issues.

Definitely going to pursue this until the issue is resolved.

Would that still allow me to play online? Or will this no longer let me log in..?

I'm really disappointed at the fact they didn't even care to respond to the thread. I'm sure someone from R* has viewed this topic.

I never said it did, nor do I think it. This was my last option as Rockstar did not reply to my support email. I'm tempted to contacted them directly but I'm unable to find the phone number, just going to have to find it somewhere. This really isn't going to be solved unless I literally speak to someone.

since I got my one from D2D I don't know whats in the manual.... but I am sure they list that stuff

 

edit:- nope, was a video editor one, but I found them near the bottom of the download page... funny how they stick the video one in, but not the manual

I think you should have the manual in the install folder. Steam version has one.

In my country, I have requested help from the publisher's GTAIV, and he refused me saying so that it is not in its competence suicidal.gif, on the activation of the game, please contact SecuROM, on the Live service, please contact support GFWL

So how can they ask that they responded as silent as a fish. sneaky2.gif

egh. poor you.

 

i looked around on google, and while I was doing this, I remember I had Halo 2 installed, which is a Live activated.

 

somewhere on a forum I found this; see if it helps you.

perhaps you installed it too many times this month? though I have to say this sounds rather disappointing in Microsoft's case.

if I remember somewhere else on a forum, for Halo 2, install it twice and then the third time you activate it you need to call support.

 

though I never got that problem for it even installing it 3+ times (since I reformatted due to problems)

I finally got in touch with someone who might actually know something at Microsoft, I got the "we'll call you back in 4 hours or so", 6 hours later a guy calls me up and asks me a few questions.. the usual, "so your getting this error message?"..and so on. He then asked for my key and told me I would be contacted between 2-4PM EST. Didn't say which day unfortunately but he did say that they would either look into unlocking my key or giving me a new one.

 

And to answer your question I did install the game a bunch of times, I was having hardware issues and I was using the game to test my hardware stability, because as we all know it's very CPU intensive. I just learned the hard way that there is an apparent install limit for Live games.

Got a call earlier today from someone else at GFWL, going to take a bit longer. Probably going to be fixed tomorrow.

 

FYI Guys, all GFWL titles have an install limit of 10, after that limit has been exceeded you get the error message above on the screenshot I posted.

ahh.... I see.

 

the other thing I found, (I'm not sure if it helps your case) but I found on another post on another forum was to try to run the game on another user account on Windows.

Yes you'd have to call them, otherwise you would be no longer able to log into the game. I can safely say I will no longer buy G4WL titles.

Funny I never had a problem with 10 times, like how many times did you install it and what time frame... as I have never gotten this error from any other game.. sure you got it wright... as no one else has complained here about this...

The guy on the phone mentioned that 10 times "could" be the cause of this error message.

Just though I'd update you guys, still no new key or anything yet but I was contacted by MS GFWL support today and the guy assured me multiple times that I would get the issue resolved tomorrow. So far I've talked to 5 different people. mercie_blink.gif
