Please use the "Report Post" button

Ok, so let's say you made a bad topic and you want it locked, or you see something else that needs shut down. There are two ways to do this:

1) Make a useless post going "hey a mod needs to lock this" without using the "Report Post" link in the lower right hand corner of every post. Moderating team does not see this until one of them happens to click on that topic and sees it. Effectiveness factor: Low.

2) Using the "Report Post" button in the lower right hand corner of every post, which means next time I or another member of the moderating team loads a page, a handy little message pops up saying there's something that needs attention. It gets acted on as needed. Effectiveness factor: High.

Now, out of #1 or #2, which one works best? Definitely #2. This is much appreciated. What's more, a record of your helpfulness is on file. People have been known to get commendations from staff, even shiny little medals, for making a habit of sending valid reports. Can't make any promises, but it's most definitely happened before.

All in all though, I can't complain. After a month as Area Mod for GTA:NeXt I am happy with the way the section is going, even without a whole lot of direction for lack of anything set in stone from Rockstar involving new releases. Things have been quite civil and frankly, I haven't been needed all that much. People have generally been practicing what I call self-moderation - that is, thinking before posting and adhering to the rules, requiring no intervention from staff. I for one am very grateful to have quality discussion from quality people around here. Some of it's a little "out there" but it's OK to be a dreamer sometimes colgate.gif

Keep it up, and thanks to everyone-MM
