True Crime: New York City

That was indeed quite strange moment of the first game, but thankfully second part doesn't include moments like that.

I really like the game and I have it on both PS2 and PC, but I would really trade some of the bugs for the better physics (especially for vehicles).

I tried to play this game so many times cause I thought it was really well-made with all the sidequests and such and I always loved Urban Chaos and this was the next best thing in terms of cop games.

But yeah, game kept crashing, CD's corrupted, PC's exploded. Lots of bad stuff happened to me with this game.

Also, these controls are the worst.

Think I managed around half an hour of this game back in the day before giving it up and never touched it since...reading some of these replies is making me think I should probably pick it up again and give it another try - Probably be cheap enough anyway and since I own LA too it would just be good to have for the collection anyway.

Same. Although didn't put it down because I didn't really like. I actually enjoyed it but never got around to playing it. Can't remember where I played it. At the time I really disliked True Crime: L.A. I knew a guy who disliked GTA but got TCLA and tried to introduce it to us like it was amazing when it wasn't really. So I was biased going in to True Crime: NY but was pleasantly surprised. Now, looking at it again, looks like a lot of fun!

L.A was, to an extent, actually an enjoyable game, if you managed to not try and take it too seriously. The huge amounts of bugs within the game, and that's not even getting into how buildings just floated in mid-air and how overall generic the map itself was just to try and achieve the feeling of size...But no, the game itself was actually pretty decent (so much so it's one of the latest games I've picked up)...But NY was, from what I remember, truly horrible...

NYC was riddled with bugs. I didn't realize it until I played this game again a few months back. It's not as good as I remembered it years ago. I think what made LA kind of memorable is it's cheesy characters (though voice acted very well) and it's cheesy story. It was kind of missing in NYC and it made it kind of forgettable. Though I liked the combat in NYC more.

Leone Family

I bought this game for PS2 a few months ago but I didn't play it for now, I want to finish Streets Of LA first.

Probably much more fun than GTA V today. It's a shame the lack of competence of GTA nowadays...

Original Light

It's a good game, but the glitches were a little too frequent for me. The last time I played it was August 2012, I have a good memory. I bought a used PS2 (since I sold my previous one a couple of years before) just so I could play it. I got around to 50% completion and then I kind of forgot about it. I still want to pick it up again some time, I love the game for the sheer amount of police work you can do, and there's really no other game like it out there. Looking past the glitches, it's fun. Nothing revolutionary, but a good sofa game for a lazy Sunday afternoon.

I played NYC first and enjoyed it more than Streets of LA. I enjoyed the story and the characters the glitches and bugs are bad in both games and the driving is also pretty horrible in both. I think they tried too hard to go for a 100% accurate map that it ruined the rest of the game.

Sunrise Driver

I enjoyed the New York vibe, Manhattan map and damned good soundtrack which is of GTA quality.

I think it's one of those games that I quit midway because of bugs and overall sh*ttines. And this was in a time when I didn't really have any standards for PC games.

Welp, I'm going to look these games up now. Considering how old they are, there might even be demos floating around that I can download.

Man it sucks how buggy this game was. I really did love all the police stuff you could do in it. And it controlled far better than LA but none of that matters when the game crashed like every 20-30 minutes.

miss this game

Play Sleeping Dogs. It's a spiritual successor of sorts. I actually found it quite immersive as an open world game with an OK story.

This is hilarious if you think about it now.

Map feels massive, traffic is always condensed. The way buildings tower over you too. I can't imagine getting the Xbox version for the enhanced graphics and performance, only to be locked out of completion due to the worst glitch ever. In retrospect, this came out in like what, 2005? Let this sit for a year or two, polish it up, and I think it could've filled a similar void Crackdown did on the 360.
