thales100 Posted February 22, 2009 Share Posted February 22, 2009 Well I just got this pc like 3 days ago I dont want to OC at this moment, I just want to make it where I get steady 20-30fps with everything high So simply buy the best GPU you can, the 9800 is a good one, and then see how it goes, you can oc it later to get a better performance. anus Posted February 22, 2009 Share Posted February 22, 2009 (edited) It's a waste to not overclock that processor as you'll be able to get some massive performance boosts if you overclock. 3GHz or more should be easy. Oh and uninstall your drivers from Add/Remove Programs, restart your PC, run DriverSweeper after booting in Safe Mode (press F8 while PC is booting up and select Safe Mode) atleast three times, reboot and install the 180.84 drivers. Now run IV and post a benchmark with the same settings. For a graphics card, get this 4870 512MB. It's currently $174.99 with weekend savings, so you better grab it ASAP. It's a steal for this price really, if you miss an offer as good as this, you should be shot in the face . That graphics card, coupled with your CPU at 3GHz or more would let you max out IV easily with VERY decent FPS. Edited February 22, 2009 by Warlord. Maybe, and only because he plays at low res 1024x768, otherwise the 512mb VRAM would bottleneck the quad (specially if he oc), causing loss of quality + probably crashes. Not max settings of any 1280x1024 resolution or above it, It is good just for high settings -not max settings, and great for other games, better to take the 4870 1GB for some 200$ in order to max out GTAIV. Its a good card, but not to max GTA 4, 512 mb is too few to play on highest settings, itll cause loss of quality when you add commands like -norestrictions to enable the max GFX settings.
