A settings file has been included since the first release. All sub-mods can be tweaked from there. You can also change these settings from the console, or from the mod's settings menu (not complete)

Unfortunately, nothing seems to be working with this patch (yet). confused.gif

Most people are choosing the patch over the mod because of performance improvements... (they rather play a game that lags less, instead of a nice modded game that lags) So we're a bit stuck at the moment. We had a small private release, just to test things... there are still some bugs, so we don't know if we should work on that, or work towards a 1.3 compatible version...

 

In terms of World Builder, I have decided to add some features that were planned for the next version, like a brush tool for easily 'painting' things like grass onto a surface, and creating arrays of objects (example: Lets say you want to add a row of 20 wall pieces... you could spawn them one by one (normal method)... or... you can mark a start point and end point, then specify how many items you want in the array, set their direction and a few other things, and then spawn them all at once)

 

We have also decided on how objects will be categorised in World Builder.

In terms of the properties sub-mod (which will be used to easily add thousands of new ownable properties with interiors), we have done enough of stage 1 and 2 to be able to start collecting property attributes (stage 3) for the completed stage 2 properties. These attributes will be used to auto-generate interiors according to a system that I'm still designing.

There have been questions about performance implications of this... The simple answer is, there are none. I have created a streaming system for this and so far, this has not decreased my frame rate at all.

Once we have proven that stage 3 works, we will need at least 50-100 people to help collect data on the rest of the city.

Thats what it is. Nothing particularly special about it, im just hoping they will release it for us too so we can sample a bit of the mod before its ready for a real release.

I mean it is so many things this overhaul will do that it is amazing , but the only way for some of these options to make it in their planned glory is for more people to jump on board. Everyone wants to help "Test" the trainer , but not help collect data for it.

But a lot of people helped out too, even if its just a bit. We would like to get something back for that. The longer you wait to release anything, the smaller the number of people that helps out gets. You could have for example released a new version of the car save thing weeks ago. But all you keep do is saying "we cant release because you dont help".

I understand. One thing about the internet is that the message is read inside someone's head and can be perceived wrong. I agree with what you said a teaser would not hurt and might catch the attention of others and convince them to help. I also feel as you do that those who want to help are helping and those who don't won't.

Hey everyone interested in beta can leave a post in site or message me, I think it can be provided to some.Only not that many features for now,like about buildings church you can spawn plus objects of course cool.gif ,but much more is done that's not in beta Vetra is working hard on Assets,residential and specially gang system so it get out as soon as possible biggrin.gif

 

One thing is certain.we do need more helpers for sooner release but nobody says that will make the mod stop,on contrary much better beta with gangs will get out soon but we really hope then more people will help to make it further smile.gif

In this particular beta is beta world editor with objects and some buildings able to spawn and vehicle varieties,fuel and tracker so you can park anywhere

Will do. Until now, it was just a private release. Only my PRs/moderators got to test it out because they have been following it's progress closely, and they know that most of the progress is background stuff which can't actually be seen yet.

 

Progress:

 

World Builder is working, but we don't have any sortable lists yet. That's one of the main reasons why we haven't released a beta. Trust me, no GUI and 26000 spawnable objects with no search... it's not easy suicidal.gif (I need to also improve the controls...) I'm in the process of getting a GUI for it, which is based on my GUI, HazardX's GUI (not released yet) and a 3rd GUI, which tylerp9p has made a wrapper for, but I just don't understand it yet sleepy.gif (I'm a mobile programmer. Unmanaged DLLs are not my thing turn.gif )

(BTW, If I figure out how to use bluetooth with .Net, I will be able to connect a real cellphone to the game, and allow numbers to be dialed from that, including lots of extra stuff that can't be done with the game cellphone cool.gif )

 

There has been major work done to all the controllers (I basically re-made everything, which accounts for most of the delay) but it all runs on a better system now.

I have fixed all the bugs from the previous releases, like malfunctions in vehicle tracker (where it didn't track some vehicles properly)

It was actually related to R*'s lack of consistency in terms of naming their vehicles. Some vehicles had 2 different spellings, so it caused a little problem.

(I didn't want to use hashes at that stage because I wanted to see what was saving... but I'm using hashes now smile.gif)

 

Also, all the databases were completely re-made.

Example, the vehicles database is now able to store variants of each vehicle. The fuel database (and others) stores data like this too. Vehicle tracker needed some major modifications to support this system. You can see the full details of the vehicle when you enter it... but that is it for now. We will add custom performance when I figure that out.

 

The biggest part so far, is the real estate controller. This system will allow for basically every property in the game to be ownable (you can own an entire property or just rent rooms), functional (you can start businesses of your choice in them or get rent from apartments etc) and also can have functional interiors (these are created by just a few lines of info).

I have large sections of this already... so a beta of this will be coming soon (I hope).

I'm almost ready to start some work on gangs tounge.gif (but this is dependant on real estate, so I need to do that first)

True. For example, with world builder, I have made 26012 objects available for spawning... but... we need to categorise it for easy use. This would be really easy if maybe 100 people offered to help with this. 26000/100=260 per person, which is easy. GTAForums gets about 3000 people per day. We have 20,000 views on this topic already, and 30,000 on the dedicated forum. But most people are too lazy to help...

Actually, I just released it to people that would understand that at this point, you can't see everything yet tounge.gif I didn't want to disappoint the rest of you. I have to make the infrastructure for everything first, then it would be easy to make the really complex things like smart gangs.

That's the problem when you're still making infrastructure (this stage of the mod)... there aren't any visible results until you make the things that use this infrastructure.

Example, vehicle tracker is 'infrastructure'. With that, I can *easily* attach more features like storing stuff in the trunk without having to re-program all of that seperately.

Also, the fuel mod attaches itself to vehicle tracker. All it has to do is add variables tounge.gif that's all. This infrastructure is meant to make any extra features really simple to make. Once the infrastructure is done, trust me, there will releases every second day lol.gif

 

 

Maybe Vetra could even just make a new movie, you know, just show us some more of the mod. Id love to see more of the world builder in action.

I would love to do that too, but I'm in South Africa and internet is really expensive here (we have almost the most expensive internet on the planet cryani.gif ) I have to pay service provider fees (there is only one provider, named Telkom, so they have absolute monopoly), line rental fees, and also I have to pay for each MB that i download/upload. So uploading even a little video is a bit expensive and really slow, plus I have a limit to how much I can download/upload per month... after that limit, I get disconnected until the next month.
