TLAD will make it to another platform IMHO

All this is proof in a nutshell why exclusivity in DLC for a multiplatform game from a 3rd party developer is the incerdibly bad for gaming.

That's how it's always been and the industry has done very well.

Was it bad for the industry when you could only play Mario games on the NES? Hell no. It was bad for Sega and Turbo Grafix 16 and Atari but it worked very well for Nintendo.

I've said it a million times before: this is the nature of the business. There's never going to be one system that allows you access to every game. If you can afford multiple systems then good for you. Most people, on the other hand, will stick to a single console and then you have the console makers competing with one another to get you to buy their product.

This case is just one of the latest in a long line of strategic and competitive exclusivity deals in which a company has invested in something that makes their product more appealing.

As for the whole "DLC for a multiplatform game" boo-hoo up there, just look at it this way: GTAIV is a multiplatform game. "The Lost and Damned" isn't. MINDBLOWING!

I am locally looking at a 360 Xbox for $139 in the local pawn shop, the old NON HD model, without the HDMI or hard drive, so it stands to figure cost wise, also looking on CL, there's little under $100 in price. BUT compare that to buying a DS for ChinaTownWArs, not too bad there.

I've seen some locally on craigs list pretty cheap-- if you want to mess with older ones with RROD...

How can TLAD make it to another platform when it's not even for the 360? Technically

it's not even a game since it's not boxed.

Pawn shops a bit of a guarantee against that though! For a short term I imagine. I would add that multiplatforming from a third party, as quoted, is what is important to consumers, it makes no real sense from the perspective of serving the INTERESTED and DIEHARD fans to leave this and that to Sony, MS, or PC platformers

The risk of the RRoD isn't that high. I have a 2006 model, and I haven't had a single problem with it since the day I bought it.

I think someone will convert it over to PC, 3rd party obviously. I have the TLAD files and am looking into it but its a bit to complicated for me.

The whole notion of taking the files over to a PC platform (not to get into Warez, folks!!) is where I had little doubt this DLC or DLC #2 is anything beyond what the other two gaming options can handle.

I think it's more to do with it being ready first, and obviously much debate was made about teh demo builds being on Xbox and not PS3, it really took PS3 development right up to release, much like a film being redied for theatrical presentation, the editing and post production can be weeks prior. This game was in a hurried climactic rush to get both versions out.

The only reason why this isn't officially for PS3/PC is because Microsoft paid $50,000,000 for exclusive rights for the DLC. I believe R* was in need of money and did this and this is why we PC users are stuck with GFWL.

Look, you all... We know DAMN well why MS got the EXCLUSIVE deal, financing the two episodes, but as stated here, the DLC was planned some time back, it was as such, not wholly exclusive to Xbox, time will bear this out. I don't need anything more to convince me that what Sam Houser stated, generally speaking, about the game.

He explicitly stated he expected GTA4 to last a few years...not in the same manner as prior games, but via DLC additions. I am pretty sure this is fully intended to expand over time.

There's nothing really more to be speculated. Time will only tell what they do...but I am betting here and before that it will come to more segments for everyone

I'm pretty sure you need a HDD to play the Lost and the Damned, i don't know if you can substitute anything else for it, but the download is around 1.7 gb

The only reason no one cared when Mario was exclusive for Nintendo was because everyone knew that if you loved all Mario sh*t you should go with Nintendo.

IIf you wanted Halo or Gears of War, you would get an Xbox.

If you wanted MGS or Killzone, you would get a PS3.

However, if a popular game comes out initially for two consoles and only one of the consoles gets more content, you're gonna lose a lot of the fanbase.

A lot of people are saying that people didn't complain when the stories were exclusive to the PS2 and PSP, well that's because most GTA fans owned the PS2. Xbox was new to the market and if you wanted the new San Andreas now, you would have to get a PS2, except for waiting for it on the Xbox.

If you've strayed from console gaming, or perhaps, you've LIVED THRU it all as I did, you didn't care that Nintendo's first foray had Donkey Kong and Mario Brothers, because not long after those, or around the same time, Apple computer's got the games on 5 and 1/4 floppy disks... AtariSoft put out a number of classy 8 bit games, and they were simple in keeping with the Apple ]['s special graphics, but came out on a number of other computing platforms as well, not the least of which was IBM and Atari.

The situation here is a bit different, this is new ground-up version for Rockstar North.

Again, I feel the driving reason is the need to create on one system to lesson the challenge, first and foremost, then the cash was offered because it was needed, and fit with that line of thinking, but ultimately, that same DLC will work on PC or PS3, from a technical standpoint, but that's really conjecture, I just feel they can get it to work because Rockstar already proved themselves with three versions of GTA4, despite the PC's problems, I wouldn't put it down to a simple 'port', this was again, a ground up build on two combined 'engines'; RAGE and Euphoria.

The technical challenge is or should be inherent in the problems we face getting the games to flow without incident. Even with their testing, I think it points to the high level of animation, graphics and AI that GTA is delving into.

Yeah, a HDD is needed, but the systems sold cheap enough are lacking the drives

Nope, just rumors based on some found elements I believe. I am looking for the PSM scan I mentioned, I thought it may have gotten online already. That's Playstation Magazine, BTW

I was saying that I heard some "3rd party"modders like Alexander Blade or Sjaak converted the TLAD 360 DLC to work on the PC but did not release it because of the whole piracy thing. If I got my hands on it I would send a anonymous $20 + tax money order to R* smile.gif, seriously I would.

FYI - Don't expect any "official" release for TLAD on PC or PS3 for at least a few months, it only came out 3 weeks ago. I

Really? No sh*t? Not everyone goes on the net to find GTA news and I still stand by my statement about GTA vanilla coming out initially for both consoles.

Agreed. Some serious Murkage was in order.

For a start you guys are gonna have to talk something similar to English and internet geek talk does not suffice, that's because it is internet geek talk and not English.

now if you want to explain what "murked" means so i can understand the flames that would be really appreciated.

And secondly replying to Guru, I do actally have a 360 - just don't have LIVE.... I never have understood why you have to pay for something you get for free on PS3. I have played TLAD on my friends Xbox and i agree it was great.... no arguements there.

My three words about getting a life actually make a lot of sense seeing how you are the main poster in this thread - what i really don't get though is why you are so passionate about the topic, seeing how you already have TLAD and can play it whenever you like. but you would rather waste a lot of your life re-iterating the same old bull sh*t that every 360 fanboy has already said... "MS gave R* 50 million big ones"..... "but, MS gave R* 50 million big ones"..... "yeah but, MS gave R* 50 million big ones".....

so if you didn't get the message the first time GET A LIFE and get over 50 million dollars - after all it's not like you own shares in MS.

I tell you what I do own though.. The Lost and Damned and that's something

A Playstation 3 owner will never own in his or her entire life until they get an

Xbox and Xbox Live.
