TLAD will make it to another platform IMHO

Sir, I own a 360, I have no ps3. I dont even have friends who own ps3, but I came to my conclusion because we honestly dont know what was negotiated for on the contract. If you can whip out that contract for me and read it off to me I would be be more than happy to accept that it will never come out for the pc or ps3 as it really dosnt make a difference to me, however you cant do that and neither can I. We honestly have no clue as to what exactly was agreed too. That is a big number, but all we know is that for the deal that was agreed to, they thought it was enough for them to turn a nice profit.

Name ONE entertainment-related contract that any member of the public is privy to. ONE. It doesn't happen and it's never going to happen. We're never going to know what's in that contract.

What we DO know is that Microsoft paid Rockstar $50 million and the content was subsequently announced as an Xbox Live Exclusive. That should be enough.

My point exactly, except we dont know what the contract entails! Thats it! There is nothing more! Nobody on this thread or anywhere else except MS and R* knows this information. This thread should be closed there is really no point

I bet if Lost and Damned ends up making any progress being modded to PC we would see a retail version shortly after. Though they could just think a cease and desist letter would be enough.

Why no one can simply except this crystal clear answer amazes me.

Because the people negatively affected by the deal (mainly PS3 owners) don't want to accept the truth. They do not want to accept it because accepting it means they can't play the game on their system.

It's denial and wishful thinking, pure and simple.

If PS3 and PC gamers want Lost and Damned, they should just buy a 360 and stop crying.

Unfortunately, most PS3 and PC fanboys are far too stubborn to even consider that.

Even a successful homebrew PC port isn't going to erase the $50 million deal.

That's like saying a studio is just going to give free movie tickets to everyone once their movie leaks onto the internet. It doesn't work that way.

Even if the PC hack succeeds (and it hasn't) PS3 is still left out in the cold, which is Microsoft's #1 priority in regards to the DLC. The PC demographic isn't much of a threat to Microsoft and the modding community is an even smaller component of an already-small group. If this hack manages to actually work I'm sure Microsoft won't be happy but there's quite a HUGE leap between them being unhappy about a PC mod and giving an official release to PS3 and PC owners.

If anything a PC hack would make them hold onto their exclusive even tighter. They're going to want to minimize the amount of people playing "The Lost and Damned" on something other than a Live-enabled 360, they're not just going to throw their hands in the air and say "we blew it! Here you go PS3!". That's just stupid.

I pretty much blew my top the other day, but your ideas are just not good as blanket statements covering business practice, to say MS's deal is not akin to buying a Superbowl spot ad, I cannot agree.

My idea still makes sense when I think about the time frame elapsing, Rockstar simply offers the content on PSN for a charge as well...either way, it's not free to the gamers.

MS pay to help develop the two episodes, that may figure into more stipulations on the contract in doubt... but to say for sure what it is, you'll never know.

There is evidence of prior GTA content being exclusive, That's where the arguments get cloudy, but I feel those were not under Rockstar North as it stands now, for one thing, for another, the major overhaul of mission expansion the Housers see these as lends itself to all the platforms for making GTA4 the game that expands as they've had in mind.

As someone who believes it's possible, I am not agreeing to say those two episodes may never come to more systems, but I don't care for Forumites saying to any non-Xbox owner who is a "4" fan that they won't. We're not popping in to this section for an excuse to cry, we have interest in this GTA expansion and to see what the company does.

I can't even say my interest with exclusive regard to Lost and the Damned, but rather I am checking in to find out any moves the RN camp plan to make.

I'd say you'd have to wait beyond a year or two to even have much evidence on your side to speculate that the 2 episodes ARE in fact confined to Xbox 360 download.

Sorry, I made a edit there, and you quoted my mistake\/

As someone who believes it's possible, I am not saying those two episodes may never come, but I don't agree that saying it is a given fact is up for ANY debate. You'd have to wait beyond a year or two to even have much evidence on your side to begin with.

The only thing I have to wait on is DLC2.

That said, at least I (and everyone else who has a 360) have something to wait for. You guys are going to be waiting a long time, and it doesn't matter how long you wait because at any given moment you're still going to be telling yourself "the DLC is just around the corner..." and it's never going to stop, and for every PS3 owner who eventually wises up and realizes they're waiting for something that's not coming there will be another posting off wishful-thinking nonsense about how it's really seriously coming soon for super-reals.

Just around the corner, that's for Xboxers to be saying to themselves. At least as a longtime PS user, I know I favor the controller, and always will as far as I am concerned at present. I've advocated owning both for a long time, but if you lost your job and you can only manage your bills, it's hard to budget the game and system in now.

I wouldn't turn one down if I came across one free or low price.

Either way, I typically wind up with more then one version of each. I support them, and I said before, Rockstar will keep making PS software, so I am not too damn worried about this all.

Yeah, and we say it we know we're getting the content.

Those of us with 360's were saying that as late as Monday and then Tuesday rolled around the corner and guess what?

"THE LOST AND DAMNED" WAS AVAILABLE ON XBOX LIVE!

AND WE PLAYED IT ON OUR XBOX 360'S!

Sony and PC platforms can get this content if RN deem it so

Not if Microsoft has a binding contract saying its theirs and theirs alone.

Guess what? PC = Microsoft! suicidal.gif

They haven't announced the DLC on PC yet because they want to sell more consoles, just like they did by not even hinting that a PC version of GTA4 would come out in the first place. There were dozens of hardcore PC fundamentalists on these forums alone that broke down and bought a console "just in case". This is the type of game Rockstar loves to play.

Why do some of you 360 owners feel the need to have to defend the discussion of the possibility that under certain unknown circumstances this exclusive deal might not always be exclusive? It shouldn't matter to you, you've got the content right now

Look at the alternative: a bunch of delusional PS3 owners bouncing their unrealistic nonsense off one another. Before you knew it the wishful thinking would snowball into imaginary release dates and gameplay features.

It's called a reality check. It's ideal that there are people who will point things out like the fact that $50 million is a lot of money and the only people who even mention the possibility of a timed exclusive are the people who want it to be a timed exclusive.

You say alternate like there are only two categories when there are people like me who are happily enjoying TLAD right now yet can see the possibility if certain assumptions are made of it hitting other platforms.

Has anyone ever thought to look at the "Exclusivity" of the original GTA's?

I read somewhere that Rockstar (DMA back then i believe) signed a 9 game contract with SONY - obviously IV is the 10th title - so the exclusive contract had run out just previous to the release of IV, the whole reason behind the stories games was to bring 7 GTA titles up to 9 GTA titles..... Hence there being no SA stories released because Rockstar couldn't give a sh*t.

Rockstar knew that IV was going to be the biggest selling game - So they finished there stupid "exclusive" contract with SONY and then started an auction for the exclusive rights to the DLC.

Now as we all know SA was released on the XBOX - SA was meant to be "exclusive" to the PS2..... that is all i am going to say - if you can't accept the fact that "exclusive" is a really loose term in the gaming industry, go drink a nice cup of shut the f*ck up. Because you really do not understand the gaming industry or business practice in general. paying for something does not mean you own it FOREVER.

Rockstar would NEVER have sold the rights to the DLC's.

When did Sony ever pay $50 million for their brief exclusivity periods? When were the titles ever even announced as exclusives?

That's right, never.

There's a difference between a game just not being available on another console and a game not being able to be on the other console due to an exclusivity deal.

But again, let's just try to find out how many of these denial-ridden wishful thinking posts it takes to outweigh fifty million dollars.

The official announcement was that the DLC will be available through Live... which is available on Windows PCs. Watch the video and notice how he never says they're 360 exclusive.

The press assumed it was 360 exclusive because it is a Microsoft/Rockstar joint venture. I've yet to see the press release, but I have a strong feeling it doesn't say 360 exclusive. If you can provide it, and it does in fact say 360 exclusive, I'll eat my words.

Go to the official site. It says "Now available exclusively on Xbox Live". I don't think Live for Windows was even around back then so it stands to reason he didn't specifically say "Xbox Live". In any case, it's very clear now.

Yes. At the moment it IS available exclusively on Xbox Live. That's because they haven't released the PC version yet. And when they do, it will only be available on Live. Indeed it is quite clear.

50 million dollars, 50 million dollars, 50 million dollars, 50 million dollars, 50 million dollars, 50 million dollars, 50 million dollars, 50 million dollars, 50 million dollars, 50 million dollars, 50 million dollars, 50 million dollars......

No matter how many times i say it or think it 50 million dollars is not a lot of money to Microsoft, Rockstar, or even SONY.

And yes they were anounced as exclusives - you probably just didn't realise because the world has become a lot more sensational over the last 10-15 years and the internet has changed a lot of things to with information being leaked about certain things - I also wouldn't be saying they were brief exclusives as it was a contract for 9 titles which spans over 10 years.... I didn't just make up the fact Sony had a contract with DMA for 9 GTA titles. whether this contract had 50 million dollars printed on it or a percentage of sales... who gives a f*ck, Dan & Sam Houser's names are still signed along the dotted line at the bottom of whatever contract was signed.

You make out that this "exclusive" deal with Microsoft is the first contract to ever be signed for 50 million dollars. YOU, sir, are the delusional one if you believe that the game will stay exclusive indefinately!

I'll give you an example (I will keep it in real basic terms for you so you can understand)

When an artist writes a song and say it becomes a classic hit that people listen to forever. When the artist dies the royalties go to the artists estate (estate is a fancy word for family - i.e your mummy and daddy, brothers and sisters, wife/husband/kids)

This "deal" where the artists kin (again another word for family - wow, did you know there was so many words for the one dumbass word?) recieve royalties only happens for 50 years after the death of the artist.

Now to explain what this has to do with R* and MS..... If an artists estate can only receive payments 50 years after the death of the artist - who mind you did not pay for the song but actually wrote the goddamn thing - how can you say MS will have "exclusive" rights to the DLC FOREVER when all they did was pay 50 million dollars....?

There is always a time limit. Whether that is 6 months, 1 year, 10 years, or 50 years... there is still a time limit to any contract. and sometimes it may not be a time limit it may be a contract signed for a pre determined number of releases.

Man it happens in all industries, so don't feel jipped that you went and bought the "exclusive" content thinking "MWAHAHAHA, PS3 users will NEVER be able to experience TLAD" you are just obviously very ignorant to business practice.

Now get off you high horse and accept the fact that TLAD MAY, I say MAY because it MAY stay exclusive or it MAY not.

Who cares if it does stay exclusive and who cares if it doesn't - you definately shouldn't care because you have a 360 and TLAD, so what the f*ck do you give a f*ck about you ignoramus?
