Can anybody who played the xbox version confirm that its light map is that bright?

I'll bring up this issue once again. If @Rim doesn't have enough free time is there anyone capable of fixing this? I think the problem is not in the light map texture since I compared it with the one from the original xbox map (yet I may have mistaken). What else could it be?

Hi, all. I'm having a problem installing this mod. 

 

The game without the mod installed plays perfectly, but once I install the mod, it won't work. The initial loading screen stops at around 5% of the bar filled, and just sits there. If I alt+tab out of the game, it shows an Unhandled Exception error at the address c0000005. This also happens after I update the mod to version 1.1. I'm following all the instructions correctly.

 

Any ideas what to do from here? I've uninstalled and reinstalled the entire game about two dozen times now.

From my experience and of course what friends told me,try the following- in GTA 3 game folder/models there is a file "txd.img"(NOT txd.dir),delete it but just in case dont permanently delete it,just move it to recycle bin,then start the game and start a new game or a save file,when it starts loading,and loading bar is almost complete,another loading bar should appear and say "converting textures to optimal format for your video card",and when that loading bar is done,the original laoding bar will complete and the game should start.here is what it looks like

If this doesnt work,then idk what is the problem with your game.

You shouldn't do this with this mod since it uses the xbox map conversion by TheHero as a base.It has an empty (0 byte) txd.img and txd.dir files. This is done in order to trick the game that you have the files so it won't create them and yet it won't use them since they are empty. And then the game can load the additional img file from the mod.

As for the issue that @djmeowth has - did you rebuild the img files after importing the stuff from the latest update?

I did. I actually went through every page of this thread and found something that kind of helped. It turns out my error was coming from the updated particle.txd from the mod. I can get into the game by replacing the mod's particle.txd with the unmodded particle.txd from a fresh install. 

 

Upon further tinkering, I figured out that my problem is the reflection effect inside particle.txd. I saw that the reflection effect is the only 16-bit effect in this mod's particle.txd so I figured that I might as well start my process of elimination by removing that one. I inserted another reflection bmp from the Steam 'Black Cars' fix in the OP of this thread into the particle.txd and everything works great now.

 

It's weird how a single bitmap inside particle.txd bugged out my whole game when it seems to have worked for everyone else just fine, but regardless, my game's working again. Hopefully if someone else runs into the same issue they might use this post to work it out.

Ah so it was the particle.txd problem. It's a well known problem with the new Xbox Version HD mod bit I totally forgot about it. I remember that Rim posted a fixed file somewhere.

When I start my game it drops my 60 fps to less then 30 and my 60 fps back please help

This mod uses the Open Limit Adjuster and the frame rate value is set there. Open the ini file and find the frame rate option under the GTA 3 category and enter the desired value. But to be honest you shouldn't play the game at a framerate higher than 30 because it's not supposed to be like that... we've discussed this dozens of times here on GTAForums, you just shouldn't play the game at 60fps.

If you do play at 60 fps: don't come here complaining about bugs, you're most likely the cause sh*t goes haywire by not accepting a perfectly stable 30 fps.

Well to be accurate - this mod has better graphics than the xbox version. Yes, it's based on the Xbox version but it's taken to the next level with higher resolution textures from their original sources. Rim retextured the whole city + all LOD textures.

Brilliant mod, though I do have a couple of issues.

 

First off, Claude's face is all f*cked up during cutscenes, and I want to know how to remove the black bars at the top and bottom. Any idea? Thanks.

Do you have skin and bones installed? i would recommend updating it from its own forum post (it's in scripts section)

find GTA3.WidescreenFix.ini or something like that, find SmartCutsceneBorders and change it to 1

No. And SA has no improvements over PC on xbox. They are almost same.
